Shannon Sughrue
Shannon has worked in the infant program for over nine years and is a certified infant and toddler teacher through the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care. Although she has worked with multiple age groups, Shannon feels most at home with our babies. Shannon is patient, compassionate and nurturing, all qualities that make her a wonderful infant teacher.
Stacie Leger
Stacie has worked in the infant program for five years, but she has been with KHCCC for much longer. In addition to working with various classrooms since she was a teenager, Stacie is a graduate of KHCCC and attended the program as a child. Stacie is a certified infant and toddler teacher through the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care and has an extensive background working with young children as both a teacher and a nanny.
Erica Mello
Erica has been in the child care field for 18 years and found her niche working with our younger toddlers. In addition to being a certified infant and toddler teacher, she holds a bachelor’s degree from Endicott College. Erica feels lucky to be able to foster a young toddlers independence, to encourage their learning and growth and to celebrate each milestone with them and their families.
Kelsey Bonilla
Kelsey has had a passion for nurturing and teaching children from a young age. She has over twelve years experience working with young children which includes employment in an after-school program, as a nanny, as a substitute elementary school teacher and in toddler and preschool classrooms. She is an early
childhood education major at Northern Essex Community College and holds an infant and toddler
teaching certification through the Massachusetts
Department of Early Education and Care. Her philosophy is to encourage children to learn and grow in a safe and nurturing environment.
Patricia DeSimone
Patty has been with the Kathy Herward ChildCare Center for over 33 years, spending all of that time working with toddlers.
She has a true passion for working with young children and that is evident by watching her interactions with them. Patty holds an infant and toddler teaching certification through the Department of Early Education and Care and continues to engage in professional development opportunities that further her education and training. She loves the many wonderful surprises that come with working with young children and states that they make her laugh and keep her on her toes!
Kerri-Ann MacEachern
Kerri-Ann has been with KHCCC for almost 30 years working primarily with infants and toddlers. She studied Education and Psychology at Merrimack College, is Director 2 certified through the Department of Early Education and Care and is the Lead Teacher for our infant and toddler programs. Kerri-Ann continues to pursue professional development opportunities in the form of workshops and trainings in order to stay current in the field of early childhood education. She loves working with children of all ages and is amazed by how much they learn and grow in the course of a year.
She cherishes the role of teaching a child in their early years.
Nicole Whitcher
Nicole is new to the KHCCC family, she started in March of 2021. “In my short amount of time here I have found KHCCC to be a wonderful environment for staff and children and look forward to the new school year.” Nicole majored in Special Education at SNHU and has worked with children since 2014, when she received her teaching certification. She particularly loves working with preschool age. so she is very excited for the upcoming school year and getting to know our new group of three year olds!!
Amy Richard
Amy has been a member of the KHCCC family for over 20 years and she has over twenty five years of experience teaching in the early childhood field where she has worked with a wide range of age groups. Amy holds dual lead teacher certification from the Department of Early Education and Care as both an Infant/Toddler and Preschool teacher. She recently received a BS in Human Development from Lesley University.
Amy has been a part of the Preschool II program for the past five years and she enjoys implementing a fun-filled curriculum that will enhance your child’s learning experience and foster their independence, creativity and imagination.
Kelley Atwood
Kelley has been with KHCCC since 1995 and has spent 20 years teaching Kindergarten here. She has her Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood (K-3) from Fitchburg State College, holds dual lead teacher certification for both the Infant/Toddler and Preschool age groups and is the lead teacher for our Preschool and Kindergarten programs. Professional development is a high priority for Kelley and she takes trainings and workshops each year that help her to better educate our Kindergarteners. Kelley strives to help children grow both academically and socially through a program that is suited each child’s individual needs.
Jane Klayman
Jane has been working at KHCCC as our floating teacher since 2002.
She has over 45 years experience in the education field, working with children from infancy all the way to high school. Jane has both a BA and Master’s Degree in Education and is certified to teach a variety of age groups. She loves knowing the children are learning, creating and being productive in life and she values the role she has in making that happen.
