The United States sent a third aircraft carrier to the Middle East region. According to the command of the naval forces (Navy) of the United States, this decision was made in order to increase the combat readiness of American troops in the region against the backdrop of growing tensions with Iran, as well as to conduct a number of operations in Iraq.

The US Navy has reported that the USS Enterprise has departed from Norfolk, Virginia. There are 5.5 thousand sailors and marines on board the ship.

According to the command, the aircraft carrier is designed “to counter the offensive, undermining the stability and the growing aggressive behavior of some states in the region, and will also support US troops stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan.” In these words, the US Navy Vice Admiral Kevin Cosgriff, commander of the US 5th Marine Flotilla, described the Enterprise mission.

C.Cosgriff added that there are 70 planes and 4 helicopters on board the aircraft carrier. These aircraft will be used to “stabilize” the situation and ensure a “safe flow of trade.”

The appearance of another aircraft carrier in the region meets the interests of the United States in building up its armed presence in the Middle East. Recall that on May 23 this year. 9 American warships entered the Persian Gulf, including two aircraft carriers. This was the largest entry of the American flotilla into the Persian Gulf since the beginning of the war in Iraq in 2003.

In addition, Washington has repeatedly stated the possibility of conducting a military operation against Iran if all other ways of solving the so-called Iranian nuclear problem are exhausted. The United States continues to insist on the military nature of the ongoing uranium enrichment work in the Islamic Republic. In turn, Tehran refuses to curtail this work, carried out, according to it, within the framework of the peaceful atom program.

Gun used by 6-year-old to shoot teacher in Virginia has been “protected,” says family attorney which he used was “fixed”, and that one of his parents used to accompany him to class, but didn’t during the week of the shooting.

The family’s statement was made by a lawyer and did not specify where the 9mm pistol was kept. The family has also not been identified.

“Our family has always been committed to responsible gun ownership and keeping firearms out of the reach of children,” the statement said. “The firearms our son had access to were well protected.”

The family also reported that the boy “suffered from an acute disability and was placed in a care plan at school that included his mother or father attending school with him and accompanying him to class every day.”

The family said that shooting week “was the first week we weren’t in class with him. We’ll regret our absence that day for the rest of our lives.”

The statement was published through the office of Attorney James S. Ellenson of Newport News. This is the first public announcement from the child’s family, coming nearly two weeks after the Jan. 6 shooting at Richneck Elementary School.

Earlier, the police said that the mother of a 6-year-old child legally acquired a gun, but it is not clear how her son got access to it. Virginia law prohibits leaving a loaded gun within the reach of a child under 14, which is an offense punishable by up to one year in prison and a $2,500 fine.

No charges were brought against the mother. But the investigation is ongoing, Newport News Police Chief Steve Drew said during one of two Facebook live chats he had with the public on Wednesday.

Drew said investigators had nearly finished interviewing children who were in the classroom where the shooting took place. He said the police were working with a psychologist to talk to them about what they had seen.

“This is an unprecedented incident that happened in our city, when a 6-year-old child received a firearm, brought it to school, aimed it, shot and shot his teacher in front of other students,” the chief said. “I have a young teacher who was shot while in class. By the grace of God, she is with us today.”

The shooting has brought international attention to the shipbuilding town along the James River near the Chesapeake Bay, and many are wondering how such a young apprentice could have committed such a brutal act.

The statement from the boy’s family also details the child’s relationship with his teacher Abigail Zwerner, who is still recovering from a gunshot wound and whom the police and educators call a hero.

“She has worked diligently and compassionately to support our family in finding the best possible education and learning environment for our son,” the statement said. “We thank her for her courage, mercy and self-sacrifice. We mourn with all other teachers, families and administrators about how this terrible incident has affected them, our society and the entire country.

The family said that after the shooting, the child was being cared for in the hospital and receiving “necessary treatment”.

“We continue to pray for the full recovery of his teacher and for her loved ones, who are clearly distressed and concerned,” the family said. “At the same time, we love our son and ask you to include him and our family in your prayers.”

The shooting occurred while Zwerner was teaching a first grade lesson in Richneck. Authorities said there was no warning or struggle before the boy pointed the gun at Zwerner. The bullet pierced her arm and hit her in the chest, police said. A 25-year-old teacher led her students out of the classroom, after which she was rushed to the hospital.

Drew, chief of police, called the shooting “deliberate.” The judge will decide what to do next with the child.

Superintendent of Schools Newport News reported last week that Richneck administrators learned the child may have had a gun before the shooting.
