languages, timetable and conditions of stay

Modern pre-school education in Cyprus becomes compulsory from four years of eight months. But many parents start looking for a kindergarten much earlier. Officially, maternity leave in Cyprus is 18 weeks (about four months), so working mothers pick up a nursery in advance.

Today the country has a large selection of public and private institutions for preschoolers. Private kindergartens are popular among Cypriot citizens and non-residents temporarily residing on the island. In institutions, children are accepted from the age of two, and sometimes even younger.

Pre-school system in Cyprus

Kindergartens in Cyprus strive to create conditions that maximize the feeling of being in the family. Communication between children and the teacher is based on the principles of respect, safety and personal characteristics of each.

There are three types of preschool institutions in the country:

  • State kindergartens are managed by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth. The state subsidizes the construction and repair of buildings and premises, the salaries of educators and the purchase of teaching materials. Parents of children under 4 years 8 months old pay a monthly fee of €45 and up, depending on the decision of the government. The fee depends on the average family income. The lower the income, the less you have to pay for the kindergarten.
  • Community kindergartens are opened when there are not enough places in public kindergartens in a particular area. They can be created by various public organizations, parent associations or by decision of local authorities. Registered by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth. The garden is managed by local authorities or the association of parents, who take on all the funding.
  • Private kindergartens belong to a specific owner in the form of a legal or natural person. All expenses are paid by the parents. The cost of a child’s stay in such kindergartens is much higher than in public ones, but they provide more services.

Every private preschool is required to obtain permission from the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth based on the recommendation of the Private Education Oversight Committee. To open a private kindergarten, in addition to permission, a license for this type of activity is required.

A complete list of private kindergartens can be found on the website of the Ministry of Education.

Parents are more likely to choose private kindergartens for the following reasons:

  • Low admission age. Usually, children are accepted in private institutions from the age of two. But there is a nursery with a special program for babies, where they take from one year.
  • Free choice of location. It is not necessary to choose a private kindergarten in the area of residence. You can choose an institution closer to work or in another convenient place.
  • Entry during the year. You can enroll in a private kindergarten throughout the year. They enroll in state institutions only in January, and you will have to wait for the results of admission for several more months.
  • Foreign languages other than Greek. They work with children in English and sometimes in Russian. At the same time, the program includes compulsory lessons of Greek as the state language of the Republic of Cyprus.
  • Long working hours. State kindergartens, like other budgetary organizations, work on average until 13:00. Private kindergartens are open until 17-18. If necessary, you can agree on an extension until 22:00 or a night shift until 8:00.
  • International standards of education are focused on the harmonious development of the child through creativity and physical activity.
  • Connections with schools. Many private kindergartens cooperate with British and other foreign schools. Here, children receive basic knowledge and skills that help them enter school and join the learning process. Another plus is automatic enrollment without queues and waiting lists.

Prices for private kindergarten services in Cyprus start from €150 for a part-time stay until 13:00. Additional costs include a registration fee of around €100. In many institutions you have to pay €20 for health insurance. Sometimes kindergartens charge a security deposit if the child is taken away from kindergarten before the end of the year.

There are several classifications of private preschool institutions. The main one is the language of instruction. English private gardens are chosen by families who plan to stay in Cyprus for a long time or live here permanently. Some of them expect to send their child to study in the UK or other European countries.

Russian Gardens are suitable for parents and children who plan to return to Russia and continue their education in local institutions. The program here is built in accordance with the standards of Russian education. In addition to the Russian language, children are adapted to the national culture and traditions.

There are mixed types of institutions – English-Greek or Russian-English private kindergartens for children. Children from multinational families come here, where parents consider it important to teach a child several languages at once.

Officially private kindergartens in Cyprus are divided into:

  • Gardens of the same type ( Same PRE PRIMARY Schools ) Strictly follow the curriculum of state institutions of good education.
  • Kindergartens of a similar type Other Kindergartens

Conclusion

When choosing a private kindergarten in Cyprus, decide what plans your family has and what kind of future you want for your child. Make a list of suitable institutions, collect information and feedback, sign up for a trial visit to see how things are in reality.

During a personal visit, pay attention to how many teachers are in the children’s group. Specify the qualifications of the staff and ask the teachers what they do in difficult situations, how they communicate with shy children, how they treat punishments and organize discipline. Check how clean the rooms are and how the safety of the pupils is observed.

Remember that every private kindergarten must have permission from the Ministry of Education and a license.

Ensuring safety in kindergartens : Video Technology Kursk

Ensuring the safety of preschool children in kindergartens is one of the top priorities facing the leadership of any municipal or private preschool institution. The company “Video Technologies” performs development and implementation advanced integrated automated systems that provide passive and active security in kindergarten.

Organization of safety in kindergarten from “Video Technology” is:

  • integrated turnkey kindergarten security;
  • anti-terrorism security in kindergarten;
  • personal security of preschool children, including protection of the rights of the child;
  • kindergarten access control systems.

In the course of work, we conduct an audit of the situation in the field of security in a kindergarten or a preschool educational institution and, together with its management, draw up and implement comprehensive security plan .

Ensuring safety in kindergartens

Video surveillance in kindergarten without “blind spots”

Video surveillance in kindergarten is an effective tool to ensure the safety of the child every minute of his stay in the kindergarten.

In each room of the group, as well as on the playgrounds of the kindergarten, opposite all available entrances and exits to the preschool educational institution and along the perimeter of the protected area, video cameras of various types (depending on specific purposes), allowing you to watch all the events around the clock without “blind spots” .

A special video monitor and hard disk are also installed (usually at the kindergarten security point) for “live” monitoring of the situation and archival video recording.

Such a security measure in a kindergarten as video surveillance helps the protection of the institution and its administration in dealing with a number of situations:

  • monitoring of unauthorized entry of suspicious persons into the territory of the kindergarten both during the day and at night;
  • control of the conscientiousness of the performance of work by educators, teachers and staff of a preschool institution;
  • control over the observance of the rights of the child;
  • investigation of situations with loss and damage to property of children and preschool institutions;
  • control over violation of the kindergarten’s internal regulations;
  • monitoring of accompanying (bringing and picking up children) persons.

Video surveillance in a kindergarten without “blind spots” in Kursk

Installation of a video surveillance system in a kindergarten can also provide active security against external threats and emergencies:

  • which trigger the sensors for recording, and it is also possible to connect the cameras to the security alarm system. Thus, penetration into the territory of intruders at night is excluded.
  • “live” video monitoring is able to detect the occurrence of an unforeseen situation: fire, flooding and take the necessary measures in time, as well as fix the chronology of events.
  • video surveillance system in a preschool institution can be integrated with a modern access control system to the territory of the kindergarten, both transport and certain persons.

Access control in preschool institutions

An important role in ensuring security in kindergarten is played by the differentiation of access rights for staff and visitors.

The automated access control system provides a high level of anti-terrorist security, as well as the personal safety of children by restricting the access of unauthorized persons to the territory.

The external part of the access control system consists of barriers for transport and turnstiles / gates for kindergarten visitors. Access through the turnstiles can be carried out both by a team from the security point, and with the help of individual contact or contactless access cards (passes) issued by the school administration to parents and staff.

The implementation of this system allows control of visits to kindergarten both by staff and all visitors, with an accuracy of up to a second in automatic mode.

The visitor photo identification log will help a security officer or caregiver to determine if an unauthorized person has used the access card.

Information about the time of entry and exit to the territory of the kindergarten of a person with identification card for a specific child (one of the parents, nanny, relative) can be transmitted in the form of sms to the mobile phone indicated by the parents.

The number of video cameras installed, the features of the access control system directly depend on both the security needs of the preschool institution and the budget.

Our engineers are ready to develop the most efficient and cost effective security solutions for kindergartens and preschools.

Our guarantees:

1 year warranty after installation of preschool security systems;
– Technical and information support during the entire warranty period;
– Certified equipment and experience in the implementation of projects “Safe City” in the territories of municipal preschool institutions;
