The national typical hourly rate in 2022 is $20. 00 per hour for nannies and $17.50 for babysitters. Rates can vary based on the child care provider’s experience, certifications, employment status, and travel expenses. Learn more about how to set competitive rates for attracting the best babysitters.
The best way to find child care near you is to post a job detailing your needs on Sittercity, which will be shared with our community of available babysitters and nannies. We’ll notify you when child care providers apply to your job, and from there you can proceed with interviews, background checks, and reference checks so you can find the perfect fit for your family.
You can find experienced and passionate child care providers near you to provide the best care for your child, either in-home or virtually. Child care providers can help families with managing strict schedules, transportation to activities, homework help, last-minute coverage, date nights, and more. Whether you’re looking for full-time, part-time, live-in, or temporary care, you can count on Sittercity for finding passionate and experienced child care providers.
Families find trustworthy child care providers on Sittercity who are passionate about providing safe and enriching care for their children. Many providers report they are First Aid and CPR certified to provide the best care for your family. Babysitters and nannies have the option to complete regular background checks, and you can easily request a recent background check if they don’t have one or it is not recent. Families can also request to see professional references!
Our dedicated team also champions safety across our platform every day. Child care providers go through an identity verification process Berbix when registering an account. Some additional safety measures include Family Watchdog screening, babysitter and nanny reviews, and secure messaging.
Nannies and babysitters share the same primary responsibility of providing safe and enriching care for your child, but there are a few differences between them. Nannies are more commonly associated with regular work, whether full or part-time, offering daily or consistent care to a particular family. There are also several different types of nannies, including au pairs, house managers, doulas, live-in, and overnight nannies.
Babysitters, on the other hand, are typically hired for irregular or occasional work, either full or part-time. If you’re looking for last-minute care for date night, or the occasional few hours after school, a babysitter is a great best option.
Identifying the type and frequency of child care you’ll need is the best way to decide whether a babysitter or nanny is a better fit for your family.
Child care providers on Sittercity love providing enriching experiences for your children, and sharing their passions with them. They’re happy to participate in outdoor activities like sports, or indoor activities like music, baking, tutoring help, and art. Wherever your child’s interests lie, child care providers on Sittercity can engage them in a nurturing way.

success story in one stroke of the pen (part 1)
Parker is one of the world’s most famous manufacturers of writing instruments. The founder of this legendary company, George Safford Parker, was born in 1863 in Wisconsin. At the age of 17, the young man went to work at the Telegraph School. The low salary did not suit George, so after a while he also began to act as an agent for the sale of fountain pens from The John Holland Fountain Pen Company. The main buyers were students. nine0036
Fountain pens of that time were quite imperfect – they had to be properly looked after and constantly repaired. Received many complaints from customers, George, who considered after-sales service of products his responsibility, was constantly engaged in repairing handles, which were then returned to customers. Soon the young man was tired of constant repairs and decided to try to fix the existing problems. As a result of this decision, Parker’s own fountain pen was born. nine0036
The official founding date of the Parker Pen Company is March 8, 1892, but by this time Parker had been producing fountain pens for four years, and in 1889 received a patent for his own model.
In 1894, the businessman became the owner of a patent for the Lucky Curve feeder, which helped to easily solve a very relevant problem for its time – leakage of ink remaining in the feeder channels when the pen is placed vertically in a pocket. This technical solution increased the level of sales of Parker pens several times. nine0036
After 10 years, the company’s specialists have developed and patented the first writing pen, which was equipped with a mechanical ink collection system in the form of a practical rubber bag. In 1905, Parker received patents for two important inventions:
In 1906, the EMBLEM pen appeared on the market, on which the emblems of secret societies were applied. This product became the prototype of today’s B-to-B stationery (designed for corporate markets).
After 10 years, the company introduced a branded clip, which for many years became the hallmark of Parker pens for many years and has not lost its relevance even today.
In 1927, the brand began to use a modified high-impact celluloid in the production of writing instrument bodies, which received the commercial name Permanite. Thanks to the use of this material, the consumer properties of the handles have improved significantly: they have become not only more durable, but also aesthetically attractive (due to the expansion of the color range of the cases). nine0036
In 1931, the Parker Pen Company patented its own ink called Quink, a quick-drying, easy-to-wash product. After some time, a special substance was added to the Quink ink, which protected the details of the pen from ink corrosion.
The iconic Parker 51 was introduced in 1941. The novelty was very popular, giving rise to a huge number of copies and fakes.
