CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER PARENT HANDBOOK

The First United Methodist Church CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER was established in 1968 in response to a growing need for quality preschool childcare for the residents of Salisbury and surrounding areas. We are licensed by the State of North Carolina as a Five Star Childcare Center serving children from three to five years of age. Our teachers are approved and accredited by the North Carolina Division of Child Services.

Each child enrolled in our Child Development Center is presented with a variety of learning opportunities daily, including both structured activities and supervised free-play, and is encouraged to explore and experience his or her world in a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment. All activities and materials are designed to be age-appropriate and to meet the social, intellectual, emotional, and physical needs of the child. Our classrooms implement the developmentally appropriate, state-approved Creative Curriculum for Preschool which includes biannual developmental assessments. These assessments enable our staff to plan and focus instruction on specific areas of growth according to the child’s need. The assessment results are shared with parents through individual parent conferences.

As a church-based childcare center, we also make every effort to teach and to model Christian values. The children who participate in our program are introduced to Biblical teachings that we believe will instill in them a sense of self-worth and responsibility to others. Our weekly chapel services, conducted by church staff, give children an opportunity to hear stories, sing songs, and learn Bible verses that will enhance their spiritual development.

Our safe facility provides surveillance cameras at electronically locked entrances for optimum security. Security cameras are also located in each classroom and on the enclosed courtyard playground, which is totally surrounded by church buildings, and, therefore, offers an increased measure of security. Our center also follows Safe Sanctuary Guidelines requiring at least two approved adults with children at all times.

Our center operates from 6:30am until 6:00pm, Monday through Friday. British doctors from Salisbury spoke about the treatment of the Skripals – Teller Report At the same time, they noted that they did not have much hope of saving patients. According to doctors, international experts, including those from the Porton Down chemical laboratory, made a great contribution to the fight against poisoning. Earlier, the Russian Embassy in London stated that they could not be sure how correctly British doctors treat the Skripals, and the British Foreign Office does not answer questions about what methods of therapy are used, and does not issue samples of the poisonous substance.

Former GRU officer Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia had little chance of recovery. This was told by their doctor Stephen Jukes. According to him, when they were admitted to the Salisbury District Hospital with signs of poisoning, the doctors were not sure that the Russians would survive.

“When we first realized it was a nerve agent, we didn’t expect them to survive. We have tried all of our treatments. They provided the best possible clinical care, but all signs indicated that they would not survive, Jukes said in an interview with the BBC.

He was echoed by the head of nursing, Lorna Wilkinson, who noted that the hospital staff feared that the incident could lead to even more casualties.

“The key signal for me was the identification of the same symptoms in a police officer (Nick Bailey. – RT ). Then there was a strong fear about how massive all this could become, ”said Wilkinson.

It all started with two patients, she said, but no one even imagined how widely exposure to a poisonous substance could spread. “We really didn’t know at the time,” the head of the department added.

The head doctor of the hospital, Christine Blanchard, also confirmed the words of her colleagues. She also stressed that doctors still do not have accurate forecasts as to how long the Skripals will have to recover.

“We have a total world experience of treating three patients for the effects of Novichok poisoning,” says Dr Christine Blanshard, Medical Director at Salisbury District Hospital, where Sergei and Yulia Skripal were treated following the nerve agent attack #newsnightpic.twitter .com/rlGiM9Dspk

“To be honest, we don’t know. But we now have world experience in treating Novichok poisoning (A-234. – RT ). And it’s safe to say that we are still learning this,” Blanchard said.

Doctors attribute the recovery of the Skripals to intensive procedures, which, according to them, were used, among other things, based on the expert opinions of specialists from the British military chemical laboratory Porton Down.

“I think much of the improvement and success in treating these people is due to the very good basic intensive care, the excellent teamwork of the physicians, the excellent care and dedication of our nurses, and the support of very well-informed international experts – some of whom, fortunately, were right on our doorstep, including from Porton Down,” said Duncan Murray, head of the intensive care unit.

The success of Sergei and Yulia Skripal’s treatment was due “to the very good generic basic critical care, excellent teamwork by the doctors, fantastic care and dedication by our nurses,” and input from international experts like Porton Down, says Dr Duncan Murray #newsnightpic.twitter.com/vXNqKLOgCB

At the same time, the British side had previously ignored requests from Russian diplomats about the methods of treating the Skripals.

“There is still no answer to our inquiries about what methods of treatment were used by physicians. In other words, we cannot directly verify either that the British installed the poison correctly or that they are treating our citizens correctly,” the Russian embassy in London said in April.

Secret movements

Note that Yulia Skripal was the first to be discharged from the Salisbury hospital. The girl left the medical facility in early April. At the same time, the British authorities classified her further movements, refusing to explain where the daughter of the ex-GRU officer was then sent. It was only reported that the Russian woman was taken “to a safe place.”

“My life was turned upside down”: Yulia Skripal appeared in front of the camera for the first time after the poisoning

Yulia Skripal recorded a video message for the first time since she and her father, former GRU Colonel Sergei Skripal, were poisoned in…

Yulia gave her first interview only at the end of May. She told Reuters that the treatment was “deeply depressing” and that the recovery process was slow and very painful. According to her, she learned about what happened only after she woke up after a 20-day coma.

The girl noted that in the long term she plans to return to Russia, but in the near future she will stay with her father. In addition, she turned down an offer from the Russian embassy to provide her with the necessary support as a Russian citizen.

The diplomatic mission of the Russian Federation, in response to this, expressed concern about the conditions in which Yulia is being held, as well as the likely staging of her appeal.

“It is quite obvious that Yulia was reading a pre-written text. Moreover, judging by a number of turns, it was a translation from English, and the original was compiled by a native speaker. Yulia’s handwritten letters published in two languages confirm this impression,” the embassy said in a statement.

Prefer not to hear

Sergei Skripal himself, according to a statement from the UK National Health Service, was only able to leave the hospital in mid-May. The refusal to provide information about the details of the treatment of the Russian and his daughter at the Salisbury hospital was explained by the principle of maintaining the confidentiality of patients’ private lives.

“Despite the fact that these patients have already been discharged, they still have the right to confidentiality, which limits us from providing detailed reports on the treatment of these people. However, treating nerve agent victims involves stabilizing and maintaining their condition until their bodies can produce more enzymes to replace those damaged by the poisoning,” the hospital said.

Russian diplomats called this position of the British side a violation of the provisions of the 1965 bilateral Consular Convention. According to it, Russia has the right to communicate with its citizens.

“In the absence of the opportunity to personally verify that everything is fine with Sergei and Yulia Skripal, we will consider the actions of the British authorities as the forcible retention or abduction of two Russian citizens,” concluded the Russian Embassy in London.

Recall that the Skripals were found with signs of poisoning with a nerve agent on March 4 in Salisbury. British authorities immediately accused Moscow of involvement in the incident. In Russia, their attitude to what happened has been repeatedly denied. Moreover, officials from the very beginning offered London assistance in investigating what happened, but the British side did not accept these offers.

Former Colonel of the GRU of the Ministry of Defense Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia are in the UK under the protection of the authorities of the country, said British Ambassador to Moscow Laurie Bristow. The Russians who suffered from the poisoning in Salisbury were given an invitation from the Russian embassy to meet, but the Skripals did not want to accept it. Russian President Vladimir Putin called Skripal a spy, a traitor to the Motherland and a bastard, while pointing out that there was nothing to poison him for.

Poisoned in the city of Salisbury, the former Colonel of the GRU of the Ministry of Defense Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia are in the UK under the protection of the country’s authorities, British Ambassador to Moscow Laurie Bristow said.

“They received an invitation from the Russian embassy to meet. They did not want to accept him,” FAN quotes the words of the diplomat.

Last month, the German Prosecutor General’s Office and the Federal Criminal Office launched a preliminary investigation into the poisoning of former GRU colonel Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in the British city of Salisbury, Spiegel reported. The case is being conducted under the code name “Novi”.

As stated in the note, German investigators found that in 2014 alleged GRU officers Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov, whom London accuses of poisoning, spent three days near Frankfurt. Also, law enforcement officers do not exclude the possibility that Boshirov and Petrov may have connections in Germany.

On the afternoon of March 4, 2018, 66-year-old Sergei Skripal and his 33-year-old daughter Yulia were found on a bench at the entrance to The Maltings shopping center in Salisbury, Wiltshire, in the southwest of the UK.

According to police, Skripal and his daughter suddenly felt unwell and passed out. The victims were hospitalized under the supervision of experts from the Center for Radiation, Chemical and Environmental Monitoring.

Later, Germany, France, Canada and the United States issued a joint statement agreeing with the conclusions of UK law enforcement officers in the Skripal case.

The allies of the British are in solidarity with the fact that GRU officers poisoned the ex-colonel and his daughter with Novichok, and the attack took place under the auspices of the Kremlin and with the approval of the Russian authorities.

London expelled 23 Russian diplomats after the Salisbury incident. Moscow has denied any Russian involvement in the case. Russian President Vladimir Putin called Skripal a spy, a traitor to the Motherland and a bastard, while pointing out that there was nothing to poison him for.

In an interview with American Oscar-winning director Oliver Stone, Putin said that the British intelligence services did not want to persecute Skripal, and, moreover, Russia, it was just that someone in London needed a pretext to create international tension.

In the conversation, Stone gave the version that the attack on the former Russian intelligence officer with the help of “Novichok” was involved in the British intelligence services, who wanted to kill him. The President of Russia partially disagreed with this opinion.

At the same time, he rejected the plausibility of rumors that Skipal intends to share some valuable data with his Russian colleagues.
“He’s already out of the clip. What information could he have? Putin explained.

Moscow District Military Court in August 2006 sentenced Skripal. He was found guilty of treason and espionage. Skripal received about $100,000 from the British SIS for the transfer of classified information, receiving $5-6,000 after each meeting.

The former head of the Military Counterintelligence Department, Colonel-General Alexander Bezverkhny personally interrogated Skripal after his arrest, RIA Novosti reports .

“A person who decides to work for another state is a traitor. The Skripal you all know about, you hear about often.

It so happened that I personally conducted the development of this figure, and I was the first to interrogate him in Lefortovo. Before my eyes is a man who betrayed a huge number of military intelligence officers and broke the fate of a huge number of people, ”said the security official.

Skripal did not fully serve his term – in 2010, the then President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev granted amnesty to Skripal and a number of other spies in order to exchange them for Russian intelligence officers detained in the United States (including Anna Chapman). Skripal received political asylum in the UK.

According to Russian officials, the production of Novichok in the USSR was stopped back in the 1990s, and by September 2017, all its stocks were destroyed, in accordance with international agreements and under the control of international observers of the OPCW.
