The State Duma has received amendments to Article 262 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation, which clarify the rules for granting an employee additional paid days off to care for a disabled child.

Recall that at present Article 262 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation guarantees the employee the right to four additional paid days off per month to care for a disabled child. These holidays can be used one at a time, two at a time, or by grouping them at once 4 together.

The developers of the amendments complain that this measure of support for families with disabled children is not widespread enough. “On average, one disabled child has less than 2 additional days off out of a possible 48 during the year. This, even taking into account the possibility of having several disabled children in one family, as well as the presence of a certain number of disabled children left without parental care and those living in social organizations is a low indicator,” noted the parliamentarians who prepared the amendments.

In this regard, bill No. 171096-8 proposes to supplement the provisions of Article 262 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation with a new norm. It allows one of the parents of a disabled child to use up to 24 additional paid days off in a row once during the calendar year. At the same time, additional inputs are provided within the total number of extra days unused by the parent.

“This number of days off in question can be formed both by accumulating and transferring the indicated days from subsequent periods within one calendar year,” the authors of the bill explained.

According to parliamentarians, this measure will allow parents to use additional paid days off to accompany disabled children during sanatorium treatment (21 days) and travel to and from the place of such treatment.
