Public Schools

Warren County has two high schools (grades 9 to 12), Warren County High School and Skyline High School.
Both schools were opened as new in September 2007, vacating the former single high school building.

Two middle schools (grades 6 to 8), Warren County Middle School and Skyline Middle School, feed through to their respective high schools.
WCMS is a new building opened in 2017, while SMS is a complete remodeling and updating of the former original high school.

Five elementary schools (grades K to 5) all feed in to the two middle schools based on geographic location (see further below)

All schools in all grades lie within the boundaries of the town of Front Royal, and school bus services operate throughout the town and county.

Dominion Ridge Academy: Competence, Confidence, and Belonging

Dominion Ridge Academy is a PreK – 12th grade non-denominational, independent, private Christian school in Front Royal, Virginia, that focuses on the education of the whole child.

At Dominion Ridge Academy, our goal is education and formation. We believe in a unique approach that fosters well-being for all where every student, from special needs to gifted, emerges as self-governing, independent learners who use their gifts and talents in the service of God and neighbor.

“And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”  – Mark 12:30-31

Spiritual, moral, & intellectual development

Dominion Ridge Academy provides a holistic approach to education.

All children, from vulnerable to gifted, do more than learn in the classroom. They also learn how to transfer that learning to their everyday life.

Dominion Ridge Academy is the model school for the Center for Cognitive Formation, focusing its philosophy of education on cognitive modifiability and social-emotional learning.

Dominion Ridge is committed to the spiritual, moral, and intellectual development its students. Our interest is always in your child.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11

Competence

“That the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:17

Dominion Ridge provides a holistic approach to learning, where we believe it is so much more than just curriculum or a set of tests, where serving our neighbors is a priority, and our interest is always in the child – each child. For this purpose, the approach Dominion Ridge takes towards education is unique.

We focus on how a child learns more than what a child learns. Once students learns how they learn, they become self-managers of their own learning – and thus independent, lifelong learners – which is our goal for each student at Dominion.

The education of Dominion Ridge students starts with training our teachers in a therapeutic approach to the classroom. Our teachers receive professional development in both cognitive modifiability and social-emotional learning.

Confidence

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13

Through service learning, Dominion Ridge graduates students who are empathetic, collaborative, reflective, and involved.

Service learning actively involves students in a wide range of experiences, which benefit others and the community, while also advancing the goals of the Dominion Ridge curriculum. Service learning comes to life through the Dominion Ridge missions program which begins in preschool and the lower grades with outreach to the local community and grows towards high school students participating in annual trips supporting disaster relief efforts. Through service learning, students transfer their knowledge of loving their neighbors to actively serving the needs of those in need.

We believe each child comes to Dominion Ridge with his or her unique, God-given purpose and it is the school’s responsibility to support each child to reach their full potential, ultimately becoming the best version of themselves.

Belonging

“My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.” John 15:12

All Dominion Ridge students, from the gifted learner to the vulnerable learner come together in an inclusive environment. Inclusive classrooms are places where educational barriers are removed and students of all abilities are educated. Dominion Ridge believes in honoring each student’s unique learning requirements.

Dominion Ridge believes that inclusion goes beyond vulnerable learners to ensure that all learners are included. Dominion Ridge developed its Center for Cognitive Formation (CCF) inside the school as a lifeline to students needing one-on-one support. CCF provides educational and social-emotional therapy, executive functioning coaching, and other support to its students.

Dominion Ridge educators and administrators are trained and dedicated to engaging a range of learning styles and creating an environment where students not only learn from the daily curriculum but also daily from each other.

who become the queens of the school and the “ugly ducklings”

Check if you can now, after a dozen or two years after graduation, remember the names of all your classmates? Me not. 10 years of university and work has formatted and compressed information about 10 years of school to a minimum, leaving only a few bright flashes in memory. Here is the main excellent student and future medalist gaining a few points more than me in the final exam. But my friend from the next desk admits that he has long been in love with the first beauty of the class – the blonde Tata with plump lips and a sonorous laugh. He confesses and asks with hope in his eyes: “Do you think we will succeed?” “No, it won’t. How it didn’t work out with all your friends and strays from parallel classes, ”I think, shrugging my shoulders in response.

Someone collected comics or records, and Tata collected fans, and she did it enthusiastically and masterfully: a couple of flutters of eyelashes, a few ambiguous phrases, a promising smile… and the client is ready. Neither clever women from good families, nor inveterate hooligans could resist her charms – sooner or later, a fair-haired, hairy obsession with full lips overtook everyone. The secret of Tatya’s overwhelming success with men seemed to lie in some kind of secret knowledge: all the time after school, the beauty spent in the company of older children, and in the lessons she behaved as if she already knew everything at 15 (well, that is, absolutely everything). After spending the last couple of years before graduation in a cheerful teenage frenzy, she summed up her school years by entering a branch of a commercial university, dyeing her brunette, and soon getting married. Ten years later, Tata is a husband, a child, work in the office of a mobile provider – quiet and smooth and not a single hint of the Brazilian passions of the mid-2000s that flared up around her at school.

Get It Done: 5 Principles of Effective Work

A chubby girl with complexes turned into the most DESIRABLE woman on the planet

Everyone had her own Tata in the class – a kind of collective image of an ultra-popular girl, in whose shadow other classmates interrupt with rare rays of attention. It would seem that the jump into adulthood from such a social springboard should be indecently high, and a successful future is a question that has long been resolved. However, in reality, it almost always turns out that this popularity has a downside. The self-proclaimed queens of the class get used to getting everything in advance, relax and take all the bonuses of fate for granted, using only beautiful eyes to achieve their goals and being surprised that less and less people buy into this trick over the years. The result – at the moment of catharsis that comes with the understanding that life is work on oneself, Tat’s eyes completely grow dim, and ambitions, behind a minimal assessment of their own capabilities, collapse to the creation of a family.

And then those who have remained in their shadow all these years appear on the arena. After going through a tough screening by university admissions committees, HR managers of large corporations and wayward men, girls who played supporting roles in the classroom come to the fore in adult life. Having learned Coco Chanel’s directive: “Not every woman is born beautiful, but if she has not become so by the age of 30, she is simply stupid,” the former “ugly ducklings” overtake the plan and become prettier even before they cross the 30-year mark. Why? Because they have nothing else to do. Tatami-trained girls realize early on that everything fits into the canvas of cause-and-effect relationships: before you get something, you need to do something for it. If you want a great job – get a brilliant education and an impeccable resume, a stunning appearance – sweat in the gym and spend money on a beautician. In short, they become the embodiment of the ideal of a self-made woman, setting new goals and achieving them. There are millions of such examples both among ordinary people and among celebrities. Take the same Megan Fox: a notorious chubby girl suffering from panic attacks turned herself into one of the most desirable women on the planet with a reference appearance and millions in fees at the cost of several plastic surgeries, incredible perseverance and iron will.

Conditional Tats and Megan from one point – the prom – start moving in opposite directions. For some, graduation remains the highlight; for others, it’s an opportunity to start from scratch and build their lives the way they’ve always dreamed of. However, graduation is not the last chance to change fate. Ceteris paribus, Monday, and even “right now” will also play the role of the zero meridian: everyone always has the opportunity to start everything from scratch overnight, whether it’s a fledgling “ugly duckling” or Tata who has wasted its former charm.

“Everything will be fine in the end”: what life Elizabeth II lived

Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain died in her Scottish castle of Balmoral at the age of 96. The UK has declared national mourning. It will last 10 days – until the funeral. Elizabeth II became the longest-reigning monarch of our time, remaining on the throne for 70 years. Buckingham Palace has already named Prince Charles the King of Great Britain.

Funerals and farewell ceremonies will take place in accordance with a carefully crafted protocol known as Operation London Bridge. It is triggered by the royal secretary’s code phrase “London Bridge has collapsed”.

One of the hobbies of Elizabeth II has always been equestrian sport. in a separate report26 years during the reign of her grandfather, King George V. The eldest daughter of the Duke of York – such a title was then her father – should not have taken the throne: her uncle, the future King Edward VIII, was considered the heir to the throne. However, after the death of George V in 1936, Edward VIII stayed on the throne for only a few months – in December of the same year, he abdicated in order to marry the American Wallis Simpson. Elizabeth’s father took the throne and was crowned George VI, and his eldest daughter was in the first line of heirs to the throne.

Princess Elizabeth and her younger sister Princess Margaret were home educated at Buckingham Palace by their mother, Queen Elizabeth, and governess Marion Crawford. The lessons included the study of English, history, literature, as well as music lessons. As Marion Crawford wrote in her book The Little Princess in 1950, Elizabeth was a diligent student – and loved dogs and horses.

After Princess Elizabeth became heir to the throne in 1936 for lack of brothers, her studies in music and literature were supplemented by the study of constitutional law under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor of Eton College Henry Marten, as well as the French language.

Princess Elizabeth and her sister Margaret spent World War II in Great Britain. Although at first it was proposed to evacuate them to Canada, away from the bombings, the Queen Elizabeth Mother refused to send her daughters. “The children will not go without me. I will not leave without the king. And the king will never leave,” she said.

As a result, the princess had her first royal task: to emotionally support the citizens of the empire. In 1940, 14-year-old Elizabeth made her first appearance on BBC radio in the program “Children’s Hour” and addressed the children who were evacuated. “We are trying to do everything we can to help our courageous sailors, soldiers, members of the armed forces. And we also try to cope with our own fear and dangers of war. We all, each of us, know that everything will be fine in the end,” Elizabeth said.

In 1943, the princess personally visited the foot soldiers of the Grenadier Guards. And in February 1945, the 19-year-old princess joined the Women’s Auxiliary Territorial Corps, where she received the profession of a military auto mechanic.

After the end of the Second World War in 1947, the British Royal Family – King George VI, Queen Elizabeth the Mother and Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret – went on their first journey together – to South Africa. During the tour, on her 21st birthday, the Princess gave a speech that was broadcast throughout the British Commonwealth. This performance can be considered a program. “I declare before all of you that I will devote my whole life, whether long or short, to serving you and serving our great empire, the family to which we all belong,” Elizabeth said.

In the same year, 1947, another important event for the future queen took place: on July 9, Buckingham Palace announced her engagement to Philip Mountbatten, Prince of Denmark and Greece. By this time, they had been in love with each other for many years: Elizabeth had been exchanging letters with the prince, who was five years older than her and was her second cousin, since 1939, after meeting at the Royal Naval College in Dartmouth, where the 13-year-old princess came with her father.

The wedding for which the Prince of Greece and Denmark moved from Orthodoxy to the Anglican Church took place on November 20, 1947 years in Westminster Abbey. A year later, on November 14, 1948, the couple’s first child, Prince Charles, was born. On August 15, 1950, Princess Elizabeth and Prince Philip had a daughter, Anna.

In 1951, Elizabeth increasingly began to perform royal duties: the health of her father George V was rapidly deteriorating – he suffered from lung cancer. In February 1952, he died: Elizabeth found out about this while relaxing with her husband in Kenya. This meant that the 25-year-old princess ascended the throne.

According to royal family expert Richard Fitzwilliams, Elizabeth’s reaction to her father’s death was “acceptance of her fate.” According to him, from the very beginning she knew how she would be called in the role of a monarch. “In my own name, of course, how else,” she immediately answered the question about the name.

The coronation of Elizabeth II in Westminster Abbey on June 2, 1953 was the first event in the history of the British monarchy to which television journalists were allowed: 27 million people watched the broadcast on television. Elizabeth herself insisted on this, although British Prime Minister Winston Churchill was categorically against it. They did not show the audience only the act of anointing – his queen asked not to shoot.

Elizabeth II took the crown in the post-war period – a time of change. She had to rebuild the format of government and reunite the former British Empire in the British Commonwealth – an association of independent states, where the Queen of Great Britain formally remained the head. Already in 1953, Elizabeth II and Prince Philip went on a long tour of the former colonies, visiting 13 countries. The Queen became the first British monarch to visit Australia and New Zealand. In 1957, she made her first state visit to the United States, during which she spoke at the UN General Assembly. At 19In 61, she went on a tour of India, Nepal, Pakistan, Iran, and also visited Cyprus. By that time – in 1960 – her son Andrew was born. The fourth child, Prince Edward, will be born in 1964.

During her reign, Elizabeth II made a total of 265 foreign trips – her last tour was in 2015, when the queen visited Germany, after which this representative duty passed to her children and grandchildren. During her 70-year reign – and only this year the UK widely celebrated the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee – Elizabeth II met with 16 British prime ministers (including Liz Truss) and 13 US presidents, she received Mikhail Gorbachev, Boris Yeltsin at Buckingham Palace and Vladimir Putin, talked with Charles de Gaulle and Indira Gandhi, shook hands with Nelson Mandela and forgave Yuri Gagarin’s ignorance of royal protocol.

Elizabeth II went through many crises – political and family. The period of the 90s became one of the most difficult for her: the family began to crumble before her eyes. In April 1992, her son Prince Andrew separated from his wife Sarah Ferguson. In May, her daughter Anna divorced her husband, Mark Phillips. In December of the same year, her eldest son Prince Charles separated from his wife, Princess Diana. And all this is on a growing wave of criticism of the British monarchy. Consider the tragedy of 1997, when Elizabeth II was expected to have an emotional reaction to the death of her former daughter-in-law, Princess Diana – she made a statement only a few days after the car accident.

Throughout her life, Elizabeth II followed the rule laid down by Queen Elizabeth the Mother – “Never explain, never complain.” Royal biographers invariably noted that the main thing for her was to fulfill her duty, as she promised at the age of 21. And she really rarely showed feelings – only her photos with her beloved corgis were warm.

This does not mean, however, that the human was alien to her: in 2012, the world saw Elizabeth II, capable of a joke, when she starred in a commercial for the London Olympics in partnership with Daniel Craig in the role of James Bond, and this year appeared in a video with Paddington Bear.

The world will remember her as the British monarch who set the world record for the longest reign – she spent 70 years on the throne. And also as a big fan of Corgi dogs, a lover of horse racing, an enthusiastic motorist and grandmother of eight grandchildren and great-grandmother of 12 great-grandchildren. The head of the most famous family in the world – and 53 countries that make up the British Commonwealth.

Etiquette and Rules of the British Royal Family

The Royal Family is one of the main symbols of Great Britain and has a rich history. She even has an official site , where you can read in detail about each family member, their residences and even find a job!

How many people are there in the royal family? Let’s count: Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip, their children (Charles, Anna, Andrew, Edward), their grandchildren (William, Harry, Beatrice, Eugenia, James, Louise), great-grandchildren (George, Charlotte, Louis, Archie) . In addition, a dozen more people are directly related to the queen, although they do not wear titles and do not claim the throne. These are dukes, earls, lords and ladies.

There is also a mistake when Elizabeth is called the Queen of England, because she is the monarch of the entire United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and England is just a part of it. Other countries are also subject to it: Australia, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Grenada, Canada, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Solomon Islands, Tuvalu , Jamaica. So Elizabeth II is the queen of 16 states.

Like any family, the royal family has its own traditions and strange habits. We will discuss them below.

1. Pasta, potatoes and rice never appear on the dinner menu. The Queen clearly does not like starch. Her Highness also despises the smell of garlic. Therefore, naturally, it cannot be used in any of the dishes. Family members avoid shellfish when they eat out because they don’t risk food poisoning. Similarly, they refuse raw red meat.

2. Formal wear is required for dinner. If you showed up in jeans and a T-shirt, you will most likely not be invited again.

3. Wipes should be folded in half after use. No one wants to see your dirty napkin, even if it belongs to a member of the royal family.

4. The Queen’s breakfast menu remains the same every day. The Queen is a simple woman at her core. And ordinary women like the good old breakfast, consisting of nuts, dried fruits and corn flakes.

5. When the queen stops eating, everyone stops eating. At a royal dinner, you always need to have one eye on the food and the other on the queen. If Her Highness puts the bag on the table, you will have five minutes to take the last bite and leave.

6. When tea is drunk in the royal family, the handle of the cup should be held with the thumb and forefinger, and the bottom with the middle finger. In addition, ladies can only take sips from one place so as not to stain the entire cup with lipstick.

7. Prince Philip must follow the Queen. He must always be two steps behind his lady in public.

8. Ballots for members of the royal family are prohibited.

9. Christmas is always celebrated with family. Usually the family gathers at Sandringham, Queen Elizabeth’s private country estate, but Will and Kate managed to slip away to the Middleton residence once.

10. Although from 2011 members of the royal family can marry Catholics, they themselves must still remain faithful to the Church of England.

11. Ladies from the royal family are strictly forbidden to sit cross-legged. Only commoners can do that. Women are required to keep their knees together, and if this puts too much strain on their legs, they are allowed to cross their ankles and tilt their knees to the side. According to Prince Charles’ former butler, royal ladies sit with their legs tilted to the sides to “defend their modesty.”

12. Royal women are instructed to descend stairs with their chin parallel to the ground and arms at their sides. They are also required to always pose with their chins in the same parallel position.

13. Maintain eye contact during a firm handshake.

14. Members of the royal family do not bow.

15. Only married women can wear tiaras.

16. No fur. There were several slips on this point, but no one in the royal family can wear fur in accordance with the proclamation of Edward III.

17. The queen can drive a car even without a license. If the queen wants to drive, she will. The rules of the road do not apply to her.

18. Heirs must always travel separately. This is a security issue. When they travel, they must take black clothes with them in case of a funeral.

19. Another rule, which may be more of a request, is that playing Monopoly is not allowed.

20. Members of the royal family cannot sign autographs. They can offer a handshake, exchange a few phrases with subjects, but it is useless to ask them to leave a stroke for the collection.

But rules are made to be broken, as the Queen did at a garden party at Buckingham Palace. She confused even her assistants by breaking her own rules. Thousands of people are invited to such events, but only a few of them, according to the protocol, can afford a brief dialogue with Her Majesty. It is forbidden to touch the queen or give anything to her at all. However, a certain Laura-Anne Barr – a mother of two from Northern Ireland, who was also present at the party – broke two rules at once. She greeted Elizabeth II, handed her a bouquet and complimented her pink suit. What is most surprising, Elizabeth stopped, accepted everything and thanked, although before that the guards warned Laura that the idea was useless – the queen never breaks the rules, and the maximum that she, Laura, shines is the transfer of the bouquet into the hands of the monarch’s assistant.

The first rule of royal protocol is never to touch members of the royal family. When meeting with Elizabeth II, the public is advised to simply curtsy or bow their heads. However, when Michelle Obama met the Queen in 2009, she hugged her, but the Queen also put her hand on the First Lady’s back. Obama recounted the encounter in his 2018 memoir, Becoming, writing that the Queen was happy to break the rules.

Last but not least, according to protocol, only members of the royal family can attend Christmas at Sandringham Manor, but Prince Harry proposed to Meghan Markle in November 2017 – and the following month, Markle joined the royal family, not being Harry’s official wife.

How Queen Elizabeth II Managed the World’s Greatest Art Collection

During her reign, Elizabeth II opened the Royal Collection to the public.

One of the last great European royal assemblies to remain intact is a retrospective of over 500 years of tastes

Queen Elizabeth II, ruler of the United Kingdom and owner of one of the world’s greatest art collections, has died at the age of 96. Although she was constantly in the public eye, surprisingly little is known about her personal tastes. The visual arts do not appear to have been a significant part of her interests. Yet, ironically, Elizabeth II did more than any of her illustrious predecessors to share her royal treasures with the public.

Here is the collection she oversaw: 7,600 paintings (three times as many as the National Gallery), 2,000 miniatures (the world’s largest collection) and over 500,000 prints and drawings, not to mention about furniture, ceramics, watches, weapons and armor, books, photographs and, of course, the crown jewels. One of the last great European royal assemblies to remain intact, it is a retrospective of the personal tastes of monarchs over more than half a millennium.

The Royal Collection has an unusual status. As her spokeswoman explains, “The Queen held the collection in trust as a sovereign for her successors and the nation. This collection does not belong to her as a private individual.” We have no idea what the Queen herself really thought or whether she preferred Franz Winterhalter, Queen Victoria’s favorite artist, to Andy Warhol. Protocol requires journalists never question the monarch, and she hasn’t said much.

To speak of one’s personal tastes would be to weaken one’s moral authority.

Young Princess Elizabeth didn’t go to school, she studied at home. According to the royal website, among the items were “art and music”. She grew up among the world’s greatest artistic treasures. But in youth, surrounded by such wealth, a person is either fascinated or satiated.

Creation of the Royal Gallery

When Elizabeth ascended the throne, the curator of the Queen’s art gallery was none other than Anthony Blunt, Nicolas Poussin expert, professor at the University of London and agent of Soviet intelligence, which became known six years after its release retire at 1973 year. Blunt’s successors as custodian have been Oliver Millar (1972–1988), Christopher Lloyd (1988–2005) and Desmond Shaw-Taylor (2005–2020). While the Queen made the formal decisions (including on all acquisitions and requests for extradition to other museums), the Royal Collection is now led by a director, currently Tim Knox, who has been in the post since 2018.

Anthony Blunt was also involved in the creation of the Royal Gallery, which was built next to Buckingham Palace on the site of a chapel bombed by the Luftwaffe in 1940 year. Since its opening in 1962, 82 exhibitions based on works of art from the Royal Collection have been shown here, until February 26, 2023, the exhibition “Japan: Court and Culture” is open.

But the biggest change came after the catastrophic fire at Windsor Castle in 1992. Prior to this, the collection was directly administered by the royal family, but in 1993 a charitable foundation (trust) was established, responsible for caring for works of art and displaying them. It is financed by the income received from the opening of royal residences to visitors. Then Buckingham Palace became open to the public in the summer, during the absence of the queen, which provided an important new source of income.

The innovation worked very well, at least in terms of the contents of the collection. Since 1993, the trust has directed most of its funds to three major projects: the reconstruction of Windsor Castle after the fire, the expansion of the Royal Gallery in 2002, and the creation of a new gallery at Holyrood Palace in Edinburgh, also in 2002.

Under Elizabeth II, the priorities in working with the collection were organization of public access to it, storage and inventory.

Many of the best works of art can be seen in the 15 royal residences open to the public (most notably Windsor Castle, Buckingham Palace, Holyrood Palace, Hampton Court, the Tower of London, Osborne House and the Royal Pavilion in Brighton). It is very rare to see works of art in historical interiors for which they were originally commissioned or purchased.

In addition, individual exhibitions are held both in the UK and abroad. And some works are provided for projects organized by other museums and venues. Exhibits from the Royal Collection have been to Russia more than once.

The COVID-19 pandemic and related restrictions have had a very serious impact on the fund’s financial performance. In the 2020-2021 financial year, total visitor numbers plummeted from 3. 285m to 155k, with revenue falling from £72m to £7m. While data for 2021-22 has yet to be released, it could be almost as disappointing as The UK had just begun to emerge from the pandemic earlier this year.

In a study conducted by The Art Newspaper on the 50th anniversary of the reign of Elizabeth II, it turned out that during these half a century only 20 paintings were acquired, a modest addition to the existing 7 thousand. And all these are portraits: two of the queen herself, two courtiers and 16 – historical figures. We have estimated their total cost at several hundred thousand pounds sterling. The next 20 years of acquisitions remained at the same level.

In addition to the Royal Collection, Elizabeth II was connected to the arts through the Royal Academy of Arts, which monarchs patronize for 250 years, and directly through posing for dozens of portraits and meeting artists. Among them are Pietro Annigoni and Lucian Freud.

Although Elizabeth II’s involvement in the visual arts may not have been as strong, she was surrounded by family members closely associated with him. The Queen Mother was an important collector who bought paintings by Claude Monet and Alfred Sisley. The husband of Elizabeth II, who died in April 2021, the Duke of Edinburgh, was a passionate watercolorist and collector. Her son Prince Charles, now King Charles III, is even more talented at watercolors than his father and has a deep knowledge of architectural history and monument conservation.

Although the Royal Collection acted on behalf of the Queen, it was Charles who handled the organization to a large extent. He was the first chairman of the Royal Collection Trust, serving for 28 years in that position until March 2021, when he handed over control to banker James Lee-Pemberton. This castling was fully justified by the fact that Charles would inherit the throne, and then it would be inappropriate for the monarch to retain the presidency.

Historically, almost all Iraqi archeology is concentrated on objects in the interfluve of the Tigris and Euphrates. But the new find refers to the history of the Parthian kingdom – and this trend looks no less promising that the artist worked much faster than previously thought and sacrificed detail for brevity

Among the graduates of Montessori schools there are many people whose names are on everyone’s lips. Some of them simply speak with love about their years of study, while others directly say that they attribute their success to Maria Montessori and her pedagogical views. We tell which of the world’s celebrities alternative education gave a lucky ticket to the future.

Writer and Nobel Prize winner in Literature Gabriel García Márquez recalled:

“The teachers made all my five senses work through practice and taught me to sing. Exploring the world was a wonderful thing: I learned to appreciate smells, and they still dominate my memory. I began to distinguish between the properties of things, different tastes … I do not think that there is a better method than the Montessori method, which could explain to children the beauty of the world and awaken curiosity for the secrets of life.

The Sims developer and game designer Will Wright called the Montessori school “the pinnacle of his education.” He believes that everything that happened after – high school, university – no longer reached the original bar:

“They call me a game developer, but what I do is more like toys. I became interested in Maria Montessori and her methodology. She believed that it was important for children to use different things themselves, and in this way, and not through training, gain their experience, learn from their mistakes. My projects are modern Montessori toys.”

Google co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page also believe that it was the Montessori educational system that inspired them to create a company different from all others. And the company’s headquarters in Mountain View – Googleplex – is a real giant Montessori kindergarten, only for adults.

Members of the British royal family, Princes William and Harry, attended a Montessori school themselves and now take their children there. The fact is that their mother, the future Princess Diana, once worked as an educator in a Montessori school. Prince George, the son of William and Kate Middleton, introduced the real fashion for Montessori. After all, everyone wants an education “like a prince,” reasoning: if the royal family has been following this system for many years, then it is really good.

Montessori alumni include US First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, actor George Clooney, actresses Helen Hunt and Dakota Felling, and even the infamous Anne Frank. The diary of this little girl became one of the main documents denouncing the horrors of fascism. Clever beyond her years, Anna attended kindergarten at the Montessori school from the age of six and went to first grade just before the war.

One of the richest people on the planet, billionaire Jeffrey Bezos, who founded Amazon, in gratitude for his education even financed a large project aimed at opening free kindergartens and Montessori schools in the United States, where children from poor families would study.

But to call the Montessori system a guarantee of future wealth and fame would be to deceive oneself.

Child psychologist Olga Godlevskaya:

“All children from birth have a different set of initial data, genetic characteristics. Therefore, it is rather naive to believe that, having learned in Montessori kindergarten, you can found a new Google, it is rather naive.

Clinical psychologist, head of the Unity Charitable Foundation program Nina Petrovskaya:

“To talk about genius and success is speculation. It is impossible to predict that after a Montessori school a child will enter the university on a budget and become very successful. There are many other factors: abilities, living conditions, family relationships. Choosing a school is just one of the stages of growing up.”

Since late last year, the Queen has had what Buckingham Palace has said has been an episodic mobility problem.

The careful wording of the palace’s current statement suggests something serious may be going on, says former BBC royal correspondent Richard Sumner. it’s a fleeting storm that can be overcome, but I think from the palace’s careful wording, there might be something serious going on here,” Richard Sumner said.

“Of course, this is a very family affair, but at the same time it is a very important moment not only for the whole nation, but for all the countries of the Commonwealth,” he said in an interview with the BBC World at One program.
