Day Care Centers Site
More and more in today’s world both parents have employment and need suitable day care centers for their children. These early stages in a child’s life are very important to their growth and development. Choosing a good child day care center is vital, one where the adult won’t just plunk your children down in front of a soap opera all day and feed them Top Ramen. You should look for day care centers that provide learning programs and playtime for your child, along with a safe and healthy environment.
There are many different types of day care centers, ranging from basic nurseries to preschools that will provide more of a learning environment for your children. Some day care centers specialize in a specific age range, while others are more open. When you’re contemplating placing your child in a specific day care center, you should visit each one with your child. In this way, you can see how your child reacts to the other children who are there and to the caregiver. You want your child to be happy and comfortable.
While some day care centers provide a greater variety of activities than others, any good day care center is going to encourage positive interaction among all of the children. They will also have rules that promote good behavior, learning, manners, and child development. You certainly don’t want to have to worry that your child is going to develop bad habits from day care.

Wee Care Three809 Coldwater Rd |
While you don’t need to go overboard in choosing suitable day care centers, you should approach the subject seriously and with thought. Your child is going to be spending a good-sized portion of his or her life in day cares and you want to make sure it is going to be a positive experience. Family is the most important thing in the world and you should make sure that your children are your first priority.
When you are considering a day care center, you should look at where it is located and how much it costs. There’s not much sense in putting your son or daughter in daycare so that you can work full time and spending most of what you earn on the day care center’s tuitions and your travel expenses. If that’s the case, you might as well stay home with your child. However, if you do truly need the money, there are usually plenty of day care services available and it shouldn’t be too difficult to find one close by that is reasonably priced.
Different Kinds of Child day Care Centers
While child day care centers are common, there is such a huge demand for this service that there are now quite a variety of options available other than basic day care. These include the following:
- Home child care or family childcare
- Child care services
- Preschool
- Nursery
Home child care tends to be the most popular option because it is generally more affordable and a smaller environment. While some day care centers are quite large and can provide better early childhood education, it is also more difficult for each child to receive personal attention. Day care centers that are based out of someone’s home are usually more personal and your child can receive more care and nurturing. Most parents want their children to be receiving love and affection, the care that they themselves would give them. They don’t want a day care business that is merely going to make sure that their child is still alive and adequately healthy.
Home child care providers are also more adaptable, generally speaking. This means that if your child likes a certain song sung to them before they take their nap each day, the home care provider is more likely to be willing to do that than someone in a larger day care facility. Most adult home child care providers are parents themselves, making them better able to understand and love your child.
Other Things to Think About
One of the first steps you should take after picking out a family day care center that you think will be suitable for your child is do a little investigating. This can involve talking to the parents of the other children that use the child day care center to see what they think about it. You should also always check to make sure the child care service you are considering is legally licensed to operate in your state. Licensing officials check criminal records and ensure that the child care provider has emergency response training and a safe and healthy environment for the children.
As mentioned earlier, it is a good idea to visit the child day care center that you are considering. You should do this at least a couple of times, and try to go at different times of the day so that you can get a better idea of what kind of schedule they have. This will help you to see how your own child would fit in.
If you are having difficulties finding the appropriate child care environment for your son or daughter, there are some other options. Some people get family and friends to help out, while others hire a nanny. Adult nannies are a good option because they ensure that your child receives personal attention and quality child care. However, this also means that your child will not receive as much social interaction since he or she won’t have other children to play with like in a family day care center.
No matter what option you decide to go with, make sure that you know who you are leaving your child with. Meet them, get to know them, and let your child do the same. Do some research on the internet to make sure that no one has had negative experiences with the day care center you are considering. Check to make sure that they are legally licensed. Once you have done all of this, you can feel more confident and secure in knowing that you have chosen the right day care center for your child.
Switching Day Care Centers
Choosing Another Child Care Provider
So you want to switch day care providers for your kids but you don’t know where to start or what to choose among the plethora of options out there in this world. It is fittingly one of the most important decisions of a young parent’s journey due to the fact that a child’s first formative years up until the age of six is critical. It is important for parents to not just consider the monetary impact of these choices but also the emotional, intellectual, and social future impacts the choice of a day care provider will have on their kids in the long term future. So let’s discuss some general tips to consider for the parent and the child to consider when one is looking to switch day care providers within a short time frame.
First, you must consider the cost of attending some of the more prestigious and rigorous day care provider centers in your area. In some areas, let’s face the reality that the more money per month per child spent; the better the facilities and the educational value experience offered for your child. Things such as using smart boards and I Pad’s to enhance the learning experience is a very real possibility in these places. However, if a parent is budget conscious they can still afford this experience but it would mean cutting back on all or most non-necessity spending. This would include curbing your eating out habits as well as any leisure entertainment or travel activity and place that money instead into your child’s future day care home. If an expensive day care sees that you are making an effort to keep up with the payments; then they will be more willing to work with you and not let your child leave that place. For a child going to this environment, they need to consider whether or not they will fit into this environment, things like playtime, feeding time, and individual care of the staff- is it received well by the child? These will make the difference between choosing these ones or a cheaper alternative. Cheaper is not all bad if the quality and availability of care is there for your child in the first place.
Secondly, you need to consider your travel times and distance of day care relative to your work and other important places like the hospital, grocery store, bank, and places that you frequent on a daily basis. Is it near enough that you can get to your child should he/she become ill or need special attention so that the day care center can contact you and arrange a meeting with you the same day if needed.
Furthermore, you need to consider the overall cleanliness and friendliness of the day care center provider. Do not underestimate a clean environment for your kid to play and learn in with other kids. Your kid will enjoy making new friends in a clean and safe environment. Plus you as a parent will enjoy the peace of mind of knowing that your child will not be being home any unwanted germs and diseases into your house. Parents must also consider if there is a dispute over payment and care; how does the management and staff deal with such requests? If there is a lackadaisical approach to your core issues; then that is a bad prelude of things to come concerning your child’s care. Your child will probably feel like he/she is being neglected or not fed on time and will start to complain to you ever so slightly that something is not right. When they do, do not hesitate to take them out of that day care center and find another one immediately.
In a recessionary economy, it is okay and permissible for both parents and kids to demand the best care for their dollar. Make your day care dollar stretch by reading all of the material and brochures and visiting every day center on your list until you find that perfect fit for your child. It’s out there; it is just waiting on you to find it!
Child Care Options for Low Income Families
One of the most frustrating aspects of being a working citizen is not having the ability to afford childcare. The majority of day care facilities charge as much as $300 per week for each child. That amount is difficult for middle-class citizens to pay. Low-income families cannot fathom paying such an expense. Luckily, the government and the various states have developed programs that help low-income families get the childcare they deserve. The following is some information on those programs:
Extended Day Program
The extended day program can assist low-income working parents during the regular school year. Many school districts offer this program. The school keeps children before and after school hours for a small monthly fee. A parent can drop a child off as early as 7:00 a.m. and pick the child up as late as 6:00 p.m. This program is excellent for low-income workers with daytime weekday jobs. The cost is approximately $150 per month for before and after school. The weekly rate is approximately $37.50, which is extremely competitive.
The attendants participate in various activities with the children before and after school. They help the children with their homework so that the parents have less stress when they come home from work. They give the children a full breakfast in the morning program and a snack in the evening program. Parents can opt to pay for the morning program only, the evening program only, or both programs. The evening program is the more expensive of the two because it lasts so many hours after the school releases the children. The evening program is $100 while the morning program is $52.
The Child Care Assistance Program
CCAP is a special program that provides childcare assistance to certain low-income families. People who are collecting TANF are automatically eligible to receive this assistance. Teenage parents who are working on obtaining their educations are also eligible for CCAP. Those who are not collecting TANF can still qualify if they are pursuing education that will improve their work skills and job opportunities. Parents can apply for CCAP assistance with the Department of Children & Family Services. The financial guidelines for qualification are along the lines of a $3,000 per month income threshold for a four-person family. The applicant must have proof of income, social security cards, birth certificates, and immunization records for all children. Application processing can take up to 30 days.
Head Start
Head start is a program for children between the ages of three and five. The program provides childcare services and medical services to the children who qualify. It is funded by the Administration of Children’s Services. The Head Start program covers childcare from 7 a. m. to 5 p.m. Teachers work with the children to fine-tune their social and developmental skills. Those who are interested in the program may apply online. Applicants go on a waitlist until there is an available slot in the program. It is best for an interested person to complete an application as quickly as possible since the wait may be extended.
Child Care Voucher Program
The Child Care Voucher Program is in effect in many states throughout the United States. It provides a subsidy of up to 95 percent of childcare cost to low-income families. Subsidy recipients will choose an eligible provider from the list of licensed providers. They may also select a relative or an in-home provider. The Child Care Voucher Program covers the childcare from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday through Friday. This is known as the traditional childcare period. However, the program also covers non-traditional times for parents who work odd shifts. It covers nights, weekends, and evenings.
A wide variety of options is available for low-income childcare. Many stay-at-home moms also run small day care businesses in which they discount their services. There is a way to make working and taking care of your children affordable.

medicinal properties, contraindications, use, reviews of doctors
The medicinal properties of yarrow have been known since ancient times. With the help of it, the mythical hero Achilles and the legendary commander Alexander the Great stopped the blood of wounded soldiers, so the plant was planted near military camps and was called cut grass. Among the people, it is also known as goulyavitsa, bloodwort and snake or soldier’s grass. The yarrow got its current name due to its elongated and dissected into small leaves leaves.
Botanically, yarrow is defined as a perennial herbaceous plant of the Compositae family, less than a meter high, with elongated leaves and white or pink flowers. It grows in all regions of the European part of Russia, as well as in Siberia, the Caucasus and the Far East. The plant has several varieties and blooms throughout the summer. For medicinal purposes, its most common type is used – common yarrow.
The plant is also used in cooking. Fresh flowers, shoots, and leaves are used in salads, vinaigrettes, and side dishes. Dried flowers and leaves are added to drinks, kvass, jellies and mousses for flavor. Due to its bright appearance, this plant is also popular with landscape designers.
You can buy yarrow in a pharmacy or prepare it yourself. The grass is cut during the flowering period until mid-August. At the same time, it is important not to confuse it with a similar noble yarrow. The main difference between the common yarrow is a higher stem and rare pubescence. Dry the grass in thin layers in a place closed from the sun at an air temperature of at least 35 degrees until the stems are brittle.
The healing properties of yarrow
The chemical composition of yarrow is rich in unique substances and compounds. Yarrow owes its main hemostatic property to the alkaloid – achillein. The mechanism of action of this organic compound is similar to the process of blood clotting with an increase in calcium ions, but does not cause the formation of blood clots. Therefore, the effectiveness of yarrow is much higher than that of other hemostatic plants.
In addition, the herb contains organic compounds – sesquiterpenes, which reduce high blood pressure, stimulate the immune system, relieve inflammation and pain, and neutralize bacteria, fungi and viruses that are harmful to humans. The vitamin complex in yarrow is represented by vitamin K, which is important for the normal functioning of the nervous and immune systems. The essential oil in the composition of the plant accelerates intestinal motility. Yarrow also contains polysaccharides, tannins, flavonoids, formic, acetic and isovaleric acids.
The following forms of yarrow are available in pharmacies:
- crushed yarrow herb in packs and filter bags;
- yarrow oil extract;
- yarrow extract in capsules;
- yarrow oil.
On the basis of yarrow, the drug Achillan is produced for the treatment of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and the water-alcohol extract Rotokan for the treatment of diseases of the oral cavity with chamomile and calendula.
In Chinese medicine, yarrow is believed to have a bioenergetic effect on the spleen, liver, kidneys and bladder. For medicinal purposes, the plant is also used in Europe and Scandinavia.
Yarrow contraindications
Dosage forms of the plant partly have a slight toxic effect, so it should be taken orally with caution. Phytotherapists strongly recommend not to exceed the dosage and duration of the course of treatment.
Yarrow is contraindicated:
- children under 6 years of age;
- pregnant women;
- people with individual intolerance to plant components;
- patients with low blood pressure.
Despite the lack of objective data, yarrow preparations are prescribed with caution in thrombophlebitis and increased secretion of the gastric glands. An overdose of yarrow preparations can be manifested by dizziness and skin rash. In such cases, therapy should be discontinued.
Use of yarrow
Yarrow herb is a natural antioxidant and has anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, bactericidal and wound-healing properties. It tones the muscles of the uterus and is part of the collection for appetite and treatment of hemorrhoids. Decoctions and juices from yarrow stop bleeding, and the infusion normalizes heart contractions. When used externally, yarrow preparations have anti-burn properties.
Today, yarrow is well studied, so its beneficial properties are used both in folk medicine and official pharmacology.
Yarrow preparations are used to:
- stop bleeding;
- improve digestion;
- normalization of metabolism;
- healing of minor burns and wounds;
- relieve heat;
- as a natural antiseptic;
- menstrual stimulation;
- expectoration when coughing;
- normalization of the gastrointestinal tract;
- relieve pain and spasms.
If a child is hurt, you can treat the wound with prepared yarrow ointment, and then seal it with plaster: and the wound will heal much faster. Photo: Globallookpress
For women
Thanks to the essential oil with a small amount of the abortive hallucinogen alkaloid thujone, yarrow has been used in obstetrics and gynecology since ancient times. The herb has a beneficial effect on the female genital organs. Increasing the tone of the uterus, yarrow preparations normalize menstrual blood flow, with its irregularity and reduce uterine spasms.
It is useful to take therapeutic baths and drink tea with yarrow for uterine prolapse, menstrual disorders, menopause, postpartum hemorrhage and bleeding on the background of erosions and fibroids. At the same time, phytotherapists warn that it is necessary to take breaks during the treatment, as yarrow preparations can cause a delay in menstruation.
Therapeutic bath
Boil 25 g of dried herb in 0.5 l of water for 15 minutes, infuse for an hour, strain and pour into a bath of water. Such baths can also be taken for eczema, psoriasis and scabies, and alternate with taking yarrow medicinal tea.
Tea
1 heaping teaspoon of chopped herb, brew 250 ml of boiling water and let it brew.
Infusion
1 tbsp. pour a spoonful of mixed yarrow and nettle leaves with a glass of boiling water and leave for 15 minutes, then strain. Drink as tea half a glass up to 3 times a day. When cold, the infusion can be drunk with nosebleeds and hemoptysis with pulmonary tuberculosis.
Men
Yarrow herb is an excellent tool for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, especially in adulthood. Rinsing and compresses with a decoction will help men with baldness, as they stimulate hair growth and prevent hair loss.
For digestion
The bitter taste of yarrow infusions activates the secretion of saliva and gastric juice, which is especially important in case of intolerance to synthetic drugs. The plant relieves spasms in the stomach, intestines, bile ducts, urinary tract, therefore it is used to treat gastritis, ulcers and colitis. Free-flowing bile improves digestion and prevents the formation of gallstones.
To reduce the bitterness of yarrow, herbalists recommend mixing its infusions with parsley. For this purpose, you can also take the juice of the leaves of the plant 3 teaspoons a day, mixing it with honey.
For hemorrhoids
Preparations based on yarrow reduce inflammation, eliminate constipation, reduce burning and itching and promote healing of anal ulcers. This makes the plant an effective adjuvant in combination with drug treatment, both in acute and chronic hemorrhoids.
For the prevention of disease, it is recommended to drink tea with yarrow 30 minutes before meals for a month and the juice of the plant in a teaspoon diluted in water in the morning on an empty stomach. Also effective are gauze or fabric lotions with a decoction of yarrow, as well as baths with herbs.
Children
Pediatricians recommend giving yarrow preparations to children at least 6 years of age in reduced dosages – no more than one third of the daily dose of adults.
Decoctions, infusions and teas from the plant when used externally and taken internally help:
- increase sweating, relieve chills, fever and remove toxins;
- restore the body after SARS and influenza;
- reduce skin itching in measles and rubella;
- disinfect the mucous membrane of the throat and mouth in case of tonsillitis, laryngitis, pharyngitis and stomatitis;
- relieve inflammation in conjunctivitis;
- cure childhood enuresis.
For healing wounds and bruises
Ointment
Grind a handful of crushed fresh leaves and flowers in a mortar, mix half with melted lard. An ointment can also be made from ready-made yarrow tincture by mixing one part of it with four parts of petroleum jelly.
Universal decoction
1 tbsp. Soak a spoonful of dry leaves and inflorescences in a glass of cold boiled water for 3 hours. Then heat in a water bath for 15 minutes, cool and strain. Napkins moistened with this decoction can be used externally for cuts and hemorrhoidal bleeding.
Doctors’ comments about yarrow
Svetlana Barnaulova, PhD, cardiologist of the highest category, phytotherapist:
– Anti-inflammatory, desensitizing properties of yarrow allow it to be used in preparations for the treatment of many inflammatory, allergic diseases, as in children as well as in adults. This plant stops bleeding of various localizations, therefore it is used both externally and internally, including for uterine bleeding in gynecology, and is considered monthly. As bitterness, it can be used to treat asthenic and debilitated patients.
Elena Korsun, Ph.D. head Department of Phytotherapy, ICM RUDN University, Head of the Educational and Health Center at the National Academy of Medical Sciences:
– Yarrow is prescribed for internal bleeding – intestinal, pulmonary, hemorrhoidal, uterine, as well as local bleeding – nasal, dental, from minor wounds, abrasions, scratches and others. As a bitter-spicy raw material, it is prescribed to stimulate appetite and is used for colitis, peptic ulcer, hypoacid gastritis, diarrhea and other gastrointestinal diseases.

Yarrow herb
A perennial herb used medicinally as a hemostatic and anti-inflammatory agent.
Yarrow is a perennial, low, fragrant, composite flower. The rhizome of the plant is thick, yellow in color, with many roots and underground shoots. The plant has an erect stem, slightly branching in its upper part. On a low stem are the next leaves of a gray-green color, which are naked or pubescent. On the underside of the leaves there are oil glands. At the top of the stem is an inflorescence consisting of many small flower baskets. The fruit of the plant is an achene of an oblong shape, painted in a silvery-gray color. The plant blooms from early summer to early autumn. The fruits ripen in September-October.
Yarrow is found throughout Russia, Central Asia and the Far East. The plant prefers to grow on the edges, clearings in the forest, along roadsides. Yarrow grows in gardens, settlements, in parks in lighted and weed-free places.
Yarrow medicinal. The plant is well known to traditional healers for its medicinal properties. Yarrow is an unpretentious flower, it is the progenitor of many decorative varieties for the garden, distinguished by bright colors and endurance. In nature, the plant grows in open areas, in light forests. Yarrow has many thinly cut leaves at the base of the stem, and this justifies the name of the flower. Small flowers are collected in large umbrella inflorescences.
Yarrow has been used as a medicinal plant since ancient times. Even the Greek hero Achilles healed him with grass of his bleeding soldiers. According to some ancient names translated into modern languages, one can understand what diseases and who was treated with this flower: “yarrow of knights”, “grass of soldier’s wounds”, “grass of blood”, “consumptive grass” and so on.
The ancient Romans, after conquering the lands, always sowed this plant near their military camps and called it military grass. Yarrow was specially planted near the working workshops, so that fresh grass was always at hand and it was possible to apply a bandage from the plant in case of injury or an open wound. In addition, yarrow was used for magical rituals. With the help of the plant, they divined, conjured and imposed damage.
In the 17th century, the herb began to be added to food as a spice, since the leaves and flowers of the plant have a rather pleasant taste. The most attractive for medicinal purposes are the flowering tops of plants, cut together with a stem no more than 15 cm long. The flowers are plucked, stepping back from the top of the plant by 2 cm. The raw material is dried in the shade and stored for no more than two years.

Yarrow – growing in the garden
Sometimes a plant familiar from childhood can suddenly open up on the other side, showing its facets and potential that we had no idea about. I love to reveal such secrets and I am ready to share one of them with you in the article. We will talk about the yarrow, or Achilles, a simple and extraordinary wild flower on the one hand, and on the other, a modern plant with varietal diversity and advantages that go beyond the garden. But first things first…
All mysteries begin with revealing the meaning of a name. So, the Latin name for yarrow is Achillea. According to legend, it was given to the plant when the connoisseur of healing herbs, the centaur Chiron, gave it to Achilles, and he was able to heal Teleph with it, getting the desired guide across the sea to Troy. But the Russian name – yarrow – does not very truthfully reflect the truth, because even if you count all the smallest leaf segments, it is unlikely that there will be a dozen of them. Whereas there can be up to a thousand flowers on an adult bush. But these are all legends, but what does botany tell us?
The genus Achillea of the Asteraceae family includes more than 100 species. According to some nomenclatures, this figure approaches two hundred. The genus combined perennial rhizomatous plants with erect stems that end in basket inflorescences and feathery felt leaves.
Popular types and varieties of yarrow
About 30 types of yarrow can be found in horticultural crops, differing in height and color palette. The most common and prominent representatives are:
Yarrow (Achillea ageratifolia ), which grows up to 15 cm tall and has grey-white leaves. Because of this growth, it is more often used as a groundcover on poor and stony soils.
Noble yarrow (Achillea nobilis) – plant up to 50 cm high, with double pinnately dissected leaves and yellowish-white flowers.
Achillea ageratifolia
Achillea filipendulina
Meadowsweet yarrow (Achillea filipendulina) , growing in a powerful compact bush up to 1–1.5 m high, is considered the tallest species. The leaves are bluish-green and pinnate, sitting on powerful stems. It blooms in large, very dense yellow inflorescences.
Achillea ptarmica yarrow (Achillea ptarmica) , or sneezy grass. It can grow, depending on the variety, from 45 cm to 1 m. It has narrow whole lanceolate leaves and pale white flowers collected in large double inflorescences.

Based on these species, many bright ornamental varieties have been created.
● Cerise Queen – blooms with large cherry inflorescences.
● Red Velvet – its inflorescences are colored in the tone of ripe cherries. It is considered the newest variety in the red palette and so far remains the best among them.
● Summerwine is a deep raspberry color.

Growing yarrow
This part of the story about yarrow will be the shortest, and for good reason, because for the gardener this plant is a “gift” in every way. Judge for yourself…
Grows well on the poorest and even sandy soils, in conditions of moisture and light deficiency.
1. Grows well on the poorest and even sandy soils, in conditions of lack of moisture and light. You can give him the most sun-exposed areas on which other plants are “baked”. But not yarrow! Even after a seemingly catastrophic drying out, the plant intensively restores shoots after only the first watering.
2. It is not damaged by any diseases or pests. It is extremely rare to observe aphids on it, but it does not in the least harm the decorativeness of the inflorescences and does not deform the stems.
3. This plant is very winter and frost resistant. It will not require any measures in preparation for winter.
4. Yarrow is easily propagated by seeds and division of rhizomes. Every 3-4 years, you can divide the plant again and again.
5. There is one more feature, someone will call it an advantage, and someone will call it a disadvantage. It all depends on the purpose of cultivation. Yarrow is prone to self-sowing and active development of nearby territories.
Yarrow is prone to self-sowing and active development of nearby territories.
Some will not like such aggressiveness and work to control its range. But those who want to breed a plant in large quantities or for cutting, will appreciate this feature. To prevent self-seeding, just cut off faded inflorescences in time.
Yarrow in the garden
Due to the variety of growth characteristics, yarrows are used in different ways in design. For example, the smallest species and cultivars are included in alternative flowering lawn mixes. They will also be good in rockeries and in the foreground of a mixborder. By the way, in rocky gardens there are often such areas where all other plants, except for yarrow, simply do not want to grow.
Another great feature of this plant is that it remains ornamental all season long.
Yarrow is an adornment of any flowerbed, flower bed and a good company in a group with perennials. From an array created from tall varieties, excellent backgrounds are obtained for other plants. And the best place, which is considered to be his by right, is the pharmacy and spicy-aromatic gardens.
An array made from tall varieties makes excellent backgrounds for other plants.

Whom will yarrow make friends with?
It is also worth talking about the successful tandems of yarrow with other perennials. This plant does not pull on the role of prima flower garden, so it is better for him to choose the right company. So, yellow-flowered varieties contrast perfectly with the blue flowers of delphiniums, aconite. Not the last role in such a successful combination is played by the silvery foliage of the yarrow. For varieties with delicate shades, it is better to choose the same company of white and pink flowers, such as astilbe or perennial anemones. Hot pinks pair well with blues and purples, such as lavender, catnip, allium, sage, mint, and chiste.
I also know from experience that yarrow is very friendly with various kinds of cereals. In such a company, small touching flowers look completely natural and modern at the same time.

Revealing the secret facets of yarrow
In the first years of acquaintance with the variety of colors of yarrow, I was very inspired by this interesting information and every now and then Nata him or she herself opened up new possibilities for him.
So, in addition to the benefits for humans, which I, with your permission, will omit, yarrow is an excellent insect repellant. Just by planting it near a bench in a recreation area, you can drive away most of the annoying mosquitoes and flies.
Yarrow can extract sulfur, potassium and calcium and many other trace elements from the soil, which is why yarrow infusion is used as a biofertilizer. The preparation of this remedy is very simple. Fill any container to the top with yarrow stalks and fill with water to cover them completely. Leave to ferment in the sun for about one week, dilute in a ratio of 1:10 and fertilize the beds.
If you add the remains of yarrow to the compost pit, it will accelerate the rate of decomposition of the compost.
Yarrow can extract sulfur, potassium and calcium and many other trace elements from the soil, which is why yarrow infusion is used as a biofertilizer.
And I also noticed that in the company with yarrow, even plants that do not show promise come back to normal. By releasing phytoncides, yarrow stimulates plant growth and protects them from certain pests. But on the contrary, there will be more bees and butterflies on the site, because this plant is a noble honey plant.
And, of course, teas… If you add no more than 10-15% of the total volume of yarrow herb to the herbal tea, this will significantly enrich the taste and usefulness of the decoction. It used to be used instead of hops to make beer and tinctures. And yarrow will be appropriate in pickling and pickling, such as mushrooms or zucchini, as a spice for fatty meat delicacies and salads. Yarrow grass in such dishes smells very pleasant, promotes digestion and even helps fight excess weight.

Yarrow can also be used both in fresh bouquets and as dried flowers for home decoration. By cutting off the branches at the stage of full dissolution of all flowers and hanging them in a secluded corner with flowers down, you can get a bouquet for all seasons. The brightest, and especially yellow, varieties retain their color best.
Yarrow can also be used both in fresh bouquets and as dried flowers for home decoration.
I will end the article with the words of Rudolf Steiner, the founder of biodynamic agriculture. He compared yarrow to a good person who has a positive effect on everyone around him. So, if your plants lack good company, plant a yarrow and your garden will be well looked after.

This plant is found almost throughout Russia, with the exception of the northern regions of Siberia and the Far East, desert and semi-desert regions of the Lower Volga region. Often grows along the outskirts of fields, along roadsides, in forest belts and as a weed in vegetable gardens, orchards and fields; sometimes forms continuous thickets on fallows. Quite a large part of medicinal raw materials is harvested in nature.
Along with the raw materials of common yarrow, raw materials of other species close to it are used in medicine.
Asian yarrow ( Achillea asiatica Serg.) distributed in the Far East, in all the steppe and forest-steppe regions of Siberia (up to the Kuzbagat steppe) of Siberia It differs in that the leaf blades are dissected almost to the central vein, the reed flowers are pink in color, and the inflorescences are loose.
Bristly yarrow ( Achillea setacea Waldst. et Kit.) has leaves of the same structure as Asiatic yarrow, but more densely pubescent and grayish below. Reed flowers are yellowish-whitish, baskets are collected in thick, dense, convex corymbs. It is distributed mainly in the south of the European part in the zone of mixed and broad-leaved forests, forest-steppe and steppe zones; found almost everywhere in the Caucasus, except for Talysh and Eastern Transcaucasia.
And, finally, Pannonian yarrow ( Achillea pannonica Scheele) is close to the previous species, but differs in wider lobes of leaf segments, larger involutes of baskets and tongues of marginal flowers. It occurs in forest-steppe and steppe regions in the southwest and south of the European part of the country.
Raw material Yarrow noble ( Achillea 9) is not allowed to be used in medicine0613 nobilis L.), which differs from the main species in dense gray tomentose pubescence of leaves.
In recent years, common yarrow has been grown in cultivation. This is due to the fact that plants have an unstable chemical composition, and growing in culture allows you to get raw materials of the desired quality. In European countries, varieties are represented mainly by tetraploids. In our country, the Vasyurinsky variety was bred.
Cultivation and propagation
Yarrow is undemanding to soils, loves open, sunny places. It is propagated by seeds and cuttings of rhizomes. When preparing the soil for digging, add 30-40 g of superphosphate and 10-15 g of ammonium nitrate per 1 m 2 . Seeds are sown in early spring to a depth of 0.5-1.0 cm. The distance between rows is 45-60 cm. If the seedlings are very dense, when 3-4 pairs of leaves appear, the seedlings are planted at a distance of 10-15 cm or thinned out. In favorable years, with early spring sowing, plants bloom in the autumn of the same year, and in the second year of life they already bloom profusely. When sown in summer or winter, plants bloom only the next year.
When vegetatively propagated, rhizomes are planted in early spring or autumn at a distance of 20-25 cm from one another to a depth of 10-12 cm, with a row spacing of 40-50 cm. At the beginning of active growth, it is advisable to feed the plants with ammonium nitrate, complex mineral fertilizer or infusion of mullein. The same is done annually in early spring at the beginning of regrowth. As necessary, plantings are weeded and loosened. It is better to keep the plant in one place for no more than 3-4 years.
Procurement of medicinal raw materials
Grass and flowers are used as medicinal raw materials. The grass is harvested during the flowering period of the plant, cutting off the tops of stems up to 15 cm long with sickles, knives or secateurs without coarse, leafless bases or separate inflorescences. You should not try to pick the yarrow with your hands, the plants are uprooted and the underground parts of the rhizomes and roots are damaged, they begin to wither and feel depressed. Raw materials are harvested in dry weather, after the dew has dried. Yarrow is dried in the shade in the air, in well-ventilated rooms, laying it out in a layer of 5-7 cm on paper or cloth and stirring occasionally. In good weather, it dries out in 7-10 days. It can also be dried in dryers at a temperature of +40°C. The end of drying is determined by the fragility of the stems.
Chemical composition and properties
Yarrow leaves contain vitamin K, methyl betaine (0.05%), essential oil (about 0.8%), formic, acetic and isovaleric acids, esters and alcohols; sesquiterpene lactones were isolated from inflorescences. Essential oils are usually bright green in color. The most valuable component of the essential oil is chamazulene (6-25%). In addition, the oil contains cineol, bornyl acetate, camphor, linalyl acetate, etc.
Due to the fact that this plant has a very wide range and grows in very different weather and soil conditions, quite a lot of chemotypes (or, as they sometimes say, chemorass) have formed. What does this mean in practical terms? The plant contains, firstly, a different amount of essential oil and, secondly, it differs in composition, and, accordingly, in its pharmacological and antimicrobial action. The same applies to the content of flavonoids.
For example, when one of the studies compared essential oils from Italy and Portugal, it turned out that the Italian oil contains mainly alpha-azarone (25.6-33.3%), beta-bisabolene (27.3-16 .6%) and alpha-pinene (10.0-17.0%), while the main components of the sample from Portugal are trans-thujone (31.4-29.0%), trans-chrysanthenyl acetate (19.8- 15.8%) and beta-pinene (1.2-11.1%).
High levels of antifungal activity of the oil against the causative agent of thrush Candida Albicans, pathogens of mycosis Trichophyton rubrum, T. mentagrophytes, T. mentagrophytes var. interdigitale, Microsporum canis, Aspergillus niger, etc.
The main properties that determine the internal use of yarrow: anti-inflammatory, carminative, antispasmodic, wound healing, blood purifying, as well as external – antiseptic, tonic. Increases blood clotting.
Yarrow has been known to people since ancient times. Even the hero of the Trojan War, Achilles treated them with wounded soldiers. In Russia, it is popularly known as a cut grass, a blood-threat, because it was used mainly to stop blood from cuts. Bleeding wounds were moistened with juice from yarrow leaves or sprinkled with dry crushed grass. He was glorified by Russian chronicles, telling about the healing of the grandson of Dmitry Donskoy, who suffered from nosebleeds.
In folk medicine, it was used for pain, malaria, insomnia, urolithiasis, liver diseases, urinary incontinence, as a wound healing and hemostatic agent for heavy menstruation.
Later, common yarrow in folk medicine began to be taken for dysentery, uterine and hemorrhoidal bleeding, to improve appetite and digestion, for gastritis, peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum, colitis and enterocolitis. Often prescribed together with nettle leaf extract. Yarrow is part of the complex preparation “LIV 52”, manufactured in India and approved for use in the treatment of liver diseases, with infectious, toxic hepatitis, and also with chronic hepatitis.
Freshly squeezed juice is used for pulmonary tuberculosis and anemia.
Yarrow recipes
Infusion of yarrow is prepared by pouring 1 tablespoon of dry herb with 1 cup of boiling water. Insist 20-30 minutes, filter and drink in 3 doses during the day. If as a gastric remedy, then it is necessary before meals.
Yarrow and chamomile tea (1 tablespoon per glass of boiling water) soothes severe stomach pain. At the same time, a heating pad is placed on the stomach area. Tea from yarrow flowers is drunk 3 cups a day for uterine bleeding and hemoptysis.
Leaf juice with honey (3 teaspoons per day) improves appetite and metabolism, helps with liver diseases and women’s diseases.
Crushed yarrow leaves are applied to the burned areas of the skin, but it helps better in this case ointment . It is prepared as follows: 40-50 g of crushed flowers and leaves are poured into 1 cup of melted unsalted lard, insisted in a water bath or in an oven for 8-10 hours, filtered through cheesecloth and cooled.
For cuts and abrasions, juice from fresh grass, yarrow is poured over the wound or crushed grass is applied to it and fixed with a bandage.
According to ancient herbalists, decoction of flowers yarrow and chamomile wash well: the skin acquires a velvety, matte shade.
And in recent years in Europe it is very fashionable to use wild plants for food. Yarrow is recommended finely chopped in a salad, on a sandwich with butter and goes well with hard-boiled eggs, cottage cheese and is used to make sauces with herbs. In Sweden, in ancient times it was even used in the preparation of beer.
Contraindications. Internal use of yarrow is contraindicated during pregnancy.
Yarrow in the garden
In ornamental gardening, several types of yarrow are used, but this does not exclude the inclusion of the simplest common yarrow in landscape compositions.
