Geneva, IL – The Reklama

Geneva is the city and county seat of Kane County, Illinois, United States. Western suburbs of Chicago.

Geneva is part of a three-city district located between St. Charles and Batavia. As of July 2011, the city’s population was 21,707, according to official United States Census Bureau estimates. The area is currently experiencing high levels of population growth, with Chicago’s urban population growth spreading further west.

Geneva is a popular tourist destination with a picturesque location along the Fox River and numerous shops and restaurants. Geneva has an extensive bike path system, including the Fox River Trail and Illinois Prairie Path areas. Geneva has an active society of history buffs, the Geneva Historic Center located in the center of Geneva, and the Fabian Windmill, an old Dutch windmill dating from the 1850s. In 2013, Geneva was nominated by Bloomberg Business Week as the best place to raise children in Illinois. nine0003

Geneva is located 36 miles (58 km) west of downtown Chicago.

Based on a 2010 survey, Geneva has a total area of 9.994 square miles (25.88 km2), of which 9.75 square miles (25.25 km2) (or 97.56%) is land, and up to 0.244 square miles (0.63 km2) (or 2.44%) is occupied by water.

Geneva was first settled in the 1830s and was a sort of staging post on an important route originating in Chicago. The first settler in Geneva was Daniel Shaw Haight. Haight sold his rights to the land in 1835 to James and Charity Herrington, who were influential in the development of the city of Geneva. Local connections with Colonel Richard Hamilton, a prominent politician in Cook County, led to the fact that in 1836 Geneva was named the county seat. A year later, the settlement received the status of a “small city”, and was named, presumably, in honor of the city of Geneva, New York. Before the name “Geneva” was chosen, the following names were used as the name for the settlement: LaFox, Big Spring, and Herrington’s Ferry. nine0003

The courthouse and prison were among the first major buildings in the city.

Geneva received the status of a “local borough” in 1867.

Although the importance of Geneva as a district center was very important, the location of the town on the Fox River attracted the most interest – its advantageous geographical position opened up great economic opportunities.

In the early days of Geneva, cheese, butter, ground grains and packaged meats were produced in the town. nine0003

The construction of a railroad to the city in 1853 ensured the further development of industry, and by 1900 firms such as Appleton Manufacturing, Howell Foundry, Bennet Milling Co. became major employers. and Pope Glucose Co.

This led to serious changes in the standard of living of the townspeople, in particular, in 1896, pumping stations and water supply appeared in the town. Geneva was especially noted for the influx of Swedish immigrants, who by 1900 made up half the population. A year later, Geneva was connected to other communities in the Fox Valley through Aurora, Elgin, and the Fox River Electric Company. nine0003

The 2010 US Census reported that the city had a population of 21,495, 7,865 households, and 5,927 families.

The racial makeup of the city was 94.8% White, 0.5% African American, 0.1% Native American, 2.2% Asian, 1.2% from other races, and 1. 3% Mixed two or more races. Hispanics or Latinos were 4.9%.

Located north of Botavia on Illinois Highway 25.

On June 4, 1979, the windmill was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as “Dutch Mill”. The following year, the windmill appeared on U.S. postage stamps as part of a series of five windmills called Windmills of the United States. nine0003

Riverside Laboratories

Riverbank Acoustical Laboratories is an NVLAP accredited acoustic testing agency founded by Wallace Clement Sabin in 1918. The Acoustic Laboratory Building was funded and built by Colonel George Fabian on his extensive riverside property in Geneva. In the early days of the center, it also housed a team of cryptologists who worked on deciphering codes from the works of Sir Francis Bacon, Shakespeare, and enemy military communications. nine0003

The laboratories were added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 28, 2003.

This property is typical American, meaning large room, lots of pillows in the bed and the un-controlable fountain in the shower. The staff is very friendly. For us location was perfect, just a few minutes to where we had to have a meeting.
