As we promised – an interview with Dmitry Lenin Khlevinsky . The organizer of Carpathian Alliance Metal Festival answered us by e-mail. From these questions and answers there is a story and one more opinion on the event. We do not aim to whitewash or blame anyone. We decided to put an end to creating a balance of opinions with this material. The conclusions will already be yours, dear readers.

– What is the CAMF-2017 score? Does the festival have a history?

CAMF 2017 the sixth in a row, of course, the festival has its own history, but this requires a separate interview and it will take dozens of pages, some of it can be found on the Internet.

– Why was the location chosen at the Tysovets sports base this year?

I’m sure you know the theme of the festival, and there’s no point in talking about it again, due to the war in Ukraine and the decline in the welfare of the population, the refusal of foreigners to come to Ukraine, we had to look for options to reduce the cost of expenses for the viewer, such as travel, accommodation, logistics, so the festival was moved to Lviv, but this did not give significant results, the number of people did not increase.

In 2016 we moved the festival to the capital and expanded the format, this also did not bring results in the form of financial returns, in parallel to this, the entire Internet was buzzing that the festival had lost its “charm” and it needed to be returned to the mountains, this is allegedly the main reason why the mass audience is ready to visit the festival, that the location in Karpaty plays a big role for them. What we actually did in 2017 , choosing the optimal location that combined mountains, location, infrastructure and met the spirit of the festival.

But, as I should have expected, this castling didn’t give me any pluses either, because for the most part, a Ukrainian metalworker is like couch troops , it’s a lot to chat on the Internet how festivals should be held correctly, but when it comes to buying a ticket and a trip, he disappears from the radar with a quiet sulfur whisperer!

I want to note that I did not want to do an event in 2017 , but people on the Internet wrote, called, persuaded and sent their surveys, etc. Based on the results of these surveys, requests with complaints, as well as wishes with the expectations of our public, I formed a proposal for KAMF2017 . I tried to hear everyone and “beautify”! But in order to “beautify” I need a financial resource, the more tickets are bought before the festival, the more money I can spend on organizing it.

– How many people came to the festival? How much was expected?

In 2017 there were about 450 people at the festival, and the minimum at which I would go to zero would have to be around 750 people .

– How was the line-up (the order of performance of artists) at the festival? Who did it?

The line-up was compiled based on the price and availability of the groups. Order based on logistics. I did it with my assistant.

– Were investors or sponsors involved? Are there any claims from their side to the organizers of the festival?

No, I’m the only investor and sponsor of this entertainment event, yes, I partially borrowed money, but this is not an investment or sponsorship.

Yes, there are complaints, my wife, who for 3 years has been trying to persuade me to stop doing garbage and get down to business, says that I am the last of the organizers of the romantic-enthusiast of the Ukrainian metal scene, who is organizing a holiday for a segment of listeners who do not need this holiday, and at a loss to my family, while undermining my health and nerves.

I can no longer meet the unjustified expectations of our correct and knowing how to rule the country, how to judge, how to build, how to fight, how to sell Lipetsk factories and, of course, how to organize metal concerts in Ukraine sofa Internet visitors.

– Were contractors involved, were any processes or logistics outsourced for organizing and holding the festival? Have they fulfilled their obligations?

Guys, this is a very complicated process, in order to explain it to you, you need to explain the whole organization of the festival process, but I won’t do this, for a long time, a lot, no one needs it.

– What do you think was missing in the CAMF-2017 infrastructure this year? How can this be fixed?

Based on the number of visitors CAMF2017 the infrastructure was provided by 99.9%, there is no need to add more. An increase in infrastructure and service can only be corrected by the money that attendance brings, the culture of relaxation! For the most part, our viewers are used to hiding alcohol outside the festival, resenting the prices that are set at the level of a Kiev bar for the average segment of the visitor, and in general the prejudiced attitude of the public, which believes that I owe them prices like in a grocery store.

– Who do you most dislike to deal with during the organization and preparatory processes for the festival?

It was perceived as work, and I don’t understand whether I like it or not, there is a task and it needs to be solved.

– Did you warn visitors of the festival and musicians about the conditions of accommodation, food and purchase of products in advance?

What is there to warn about??? The rules of the festival have not changed for 6 years!

– What is the financial result of the festival this year? Did you manage to pay for all the expenses for infrastructure, transport, catering, sound, advertising, etc.?

The financial result is the same as the last 6 years – minus 50% of the invested money, that is, somewhere around 20.000 euros. Yes, it turned out, just the other day they cut out a kidney, I’m waiting for dengue!))

But seriously, we closed 95% of the expenses of and this is thanks to my family and friends who responded and lent me, since my money was after 9Years of losses were not enough, and I did not expect such a minimum number of spectators.

– What were the conditions for accreditation to the festival for journalists?

Personal appeal, after which we discussed accreditation in a personal conversation.

– Were there any complaints from local residents about the festival? The theme of the festival contrasts quite strongly with the usual way of life in remote corners of the Lviv region.

Exactly the same grabbers as the residents of seaside towns during the holiday season, where did you see the briskness of someone who refused money? I think my answer is clear.

– How was the logistics for foreign teams organized? Who took care of her?

90% of the groups came by themselves, the main groups flew to Poland and from there we picked them up and brought them back, I did this.

– How can you explain such expensive prices for rooms inside the base during the festival? 360 UAH/day differs by 3.5 orders of magnitude from the nominal price of base

The most interesting question for you, what are the prices on the base? Do you know them? Why are you asking a question without checking the information?! I recommend that you call the base right now and find out the prices !!!

And as a matter of fact, numbers on Tysovets cost from 100 UAH. per person up to 2000 UAH. for number , do you know what high season is? When a large influx of tourists is guaranteed, then all hotels, boarding houses, travel agencies, air companies raise prices, and in our case, they initially raised prices for us, since everyone at the base wanted to earn money and this was their reason for agreeing to host the festival, we put 20% mark-up on their cost, so if you have questions why they raised the price so much, then I recommend contacting the base for comments and asking why they are such grabbers, or you can even contact the Ministry of Defense that owns the base and find out why the base is so expensive!

As for the enraged rhinoceros who presented herself as a journalist, and having gathered a small herd of metal analysts shell-shocked by a candelabra, she rushed around the festival and simultaneously on the Internet shouting that I was an asshole and a scoundrel, that I could not organize musical events, that my house was a prison and why buckwheat per serving was 300 grams and not half a kilo, etc. identity or editorial task, interfered with the work of staff. Although I accepted all the complaints and, in the course of their appearance, offered possible solutions.

I want to note that at the base we were given 20 places with unsatisfactory living conditions , I did not inspect all 200 places that we bought at the base and therefore these 20 places were sold to us, but the remaining 180 places were in excellent condition, and I want to note that 20 people do not reflect the entire settlement in hotels. As soon as we found out, we tried to resolve the issue of relocating people to other rooms, but at that time it was not possible to find an alternative.

– What were the reasons you couldn’t complete the Shining rider? So they say on their Facebook

This is a total lie!!!! There was no mention of any rider! The story is this – Nicholas , having confirmed the concert, apparently didn’t really coordinate it with the rest of the group, but as it turned out, the rest of the guys simply didn’t want to go, one had a wife pregnant with twins, the other had something else, etc. , and when it came time to buy tickets, they asked for a fantastic flight, firstly expensive, secondly, not feasible in time, which just seemed like if they buy, well, ok, but if they don’t buy, we’ll give a great we leave the concert, as a result, 2 MONTHS, 180 LETTERS, the flight was discussed !!

Daily we were looking for options and options!! And at the end, 2 weeks before the festival, we found a consensus and bought 6 tickets for 3000 euros ! Behind this adventure, we simply forgot to send them money and about happiness, there is a reason to jump off, on Friday, exactly a week before the fest, they write that they should receive the money before departure, Friday evening – we say, guys, we will give you the money in cash at the airport, on Sunday we are already going to the location to prepare everything, on Monday we get a refusal, we photograph my assistant with money and send them a letter so as not to worry at the airport they will receive it, we are still in the forest and it is difficult to send them.

On Thursday night a friend calls me and says that Shining announced the cancellation, that is, we thought everything was ok, but they just took advantage of the opportunity to cancel the show, if they wrote or called, in a pinch we could send a western union, but they just didn’t want to go. Here is such a real story, and I also send you the tickets I bought for them so that no metal. Internet analyst could say that we were not going to take them, otherwise I would throw out 100,000 UAH. and not to carry….??)))

– Some visitors to the festival claim that you left before the end of the event, is that true? If so, who was responsible for the further holding of CAMF-2017?

Yes, I left 4 hours before the end of the third, last day of the festival, in fact there was nothing to organize, and I have a lot of work to sit and look at the drunken audience or I didn’t have the opportunity to drink myself, I need to work to repay the debts brought by this festival.

– Are all agreements between musicians, staff and organizers fulfilled? Why?

Yes, that’s all, and if someone writes something on the Internet and is not satisfied with something, I can say ALL AGREEMENTS ARE IMPLEMENTED, and if they didn’t like something and they didn’t like it, then I can say that they themselves confirmed the conditions!

– You closed the wall on the official CAMF-2017 VK page and deleted the event on Facebook, what is the reason for this?

On the occasion of graduation, I will take care of the fest and the closing of the kindergarten.

– What would you say to the guests of this year’s festival? What about future visitors?

So, I spent 12 years organizing matinees for Ukrainian metalheads, I won’t be modest now, but the fact that I was the first to start bringing metal monsters to this country from all over the world and before me, the local metalhead could not dream even 10% of what I did in the concert metal movement in Ukraine, I made the biggest metal festivals in the CIS, and such as Global East is still unsurpassed.

On the Internet, envious and homegrown metal analysts who do not understand what they write, do not plunge into this environment and do not know the specifics of all issues related to the organization, consider it their duty to leave a fetid bunch of nasty things. festival, good bands came regularly, but it turned out that this metalhead did not need it, he only needed cheap beer, free tickets and free dry closets.

Without money, no business will develop, so here, it became for me not a business, but an idea-dream to create in our realities, with a stingy public who want everything to be free and bring Metalika to the region, at least some decent project that one could be proud of, and I partially achieved this, the Europeans were surprised that there is such a big fest in Ukraine, KAMF is a really big festival for Europe, but our public, which didn’t need it, killed him, finding different excuses, then the toilet smells, then the place is not right, then mosquitoes bit the sky is not starry enough, etc. , but if people don’t need it, then I’ve been for a long time !!

I experimented a lot, tried to make the prices for the festival almost free, in the expectation that people would come and spend money on themselves inside the fest, but not with our metalhead! For 12 years, I blew about 800.000 USD on the organization of someone else’s vacation!!!!! For this money, I could buy an island in Greece and not have problems in life, instead I tried hard to find an approach to our listeners, continued to carry bands for them and please them, am I an idiot ?? What about gratitude? I’m shitty and everything is shit!!!! Any of those festivals that I did was at a decent level and not lower than the level of any European festival of the same level, and not even better than the European ones that you look up to, Europeans do not complain, but attend events with gratitude that they exist and spend money so that it exists and develops !!

I heard rumors, I don’t have time to read the Internet, that was thrown at KAMF2017, so this is a lie! My godfather, friends, family, volunteers helped me out, the only thing I admit is not organizing a transfer from the festival, but I already had no money, and the transfer prices were very modest, so don’t be offended, this is your help to me for 12 years of entertainment for you.

As for the hotel, I already answered you, the food – the prices were just ball, and those people who say it was apparently expensive never went to establishments and events further than their village. I could say a lot more, I have accumulated over 12 years, but I don’t see the point! I want to thank my family, friends, partners, volunteers, adequate and regular viewers for being with me all this time for all your help and support, believe me, I will never forget this. And friends-critics, comments, your opinions regarding this interview, the activities of the GP, my rudeness is a past stage for me, I’m not interested in this, I turned this page.
