WEST CHESTER, PA — Back-to-school planning has already begun in the West Chester Area School District, with calendars available to help parents prepare for the first day.

That calendar you may keep on your refrigerator can be filled in with days when school is closed.

The district’s current health and safety plan remains that wearing masks to prevent the spread of COVID-19 is optional.

West Chester is a borough and county of Chester County, in the US state of Pennsylvania. [3] Located in the Philadelphia metropolitan area, the township had a population of 18,461 at the 2010 census. [4] West Chester is the mailing address for most of the surrounding townships. MARRY West Chester, Pennsylvania

The area was originally called Turk’s Head, after the inn of the area of ​​the same name, located in what is now the city center. As of the 2010 Census, the borough was 72.1% non-Hispanic white, 12.1% black or African American, 0.2% Native American, 1.4% Asian, and 2.4% two or more races. About 13.4% of the population was of Hispanic or Latino origin. [20]

As of 2000 census [18] , the township had 17,861 people, 6,265 households, and 2,662 families. The population density was 9703.3 people per square mile (3747.9 / km 2 ). West Chester is home to the West Chester Transportation Center which serves as a parking garage for the Chester County Justice Center and a bus terminal which is on the lower level of the facility. Two from SEPTA’s Commuter Division Bus routes serve West Chester. The Route 92 bus connects West Chester with the Exton Transportation Center and King of Prussia Transit Center, while the Route 104 bus runs between West Chester University and Transportation Center 69th Street, mostly following the West Chester Pike. [35] The Route 104 bus replaced the trolley service that connected West Chester to Philadelphia along the West Chester Pike between 1898 and the 1950s. [34] West Chester is also served by the Chester County Transportation Authority’s SCCOOT which serves Kennett Square and Oxford, and Krapf Transit Route ‘A’ which serves Exton, Downingtown and Coatesville. Service on the line was discontinued due to poor track conditions west of Alvin Station.
