My belief in the Law of Double Incidents can be of practical use. For example, recently we had a stove in the kitchen. The handle of one of the burners began to jam sharply and it was necessary to do something like gritz. Unscrewing the back wall, I intended to find out what kind of toggle switch was there in order to look for a replacement for it, but everything turned out to be much simpler: one of the fixing screws fell out and prevented the handle from turning. In general, a trifle; it was of no use, except that he washed the floor under the stove and removed small children’s toys from under it.
After a couple of days, my laptop’s power connector suddenly failed. I heroically continued to fiddle in the LR until the battery ran down and something had to be done. The warranty has already expired, Acer’s technical support kicked me off to look for craftsmen in local BestBays and WalMarts, but then … “Eh!” said Pyotr Ivanovich and I. “After all, we just had a similar case. Take the answer and go!” Indeed, it was enough for me to unscrew the bottom and shake the contacts so that the connector miraculously worked.

Since we are planning everything a year in advance, we not only have our summer trip to Hawaii covered, but our winter trip to the Caribbean* is also in jeopardy. There are nuances here. For Hawaii, AA returned the money to us in cash, since our flight was formally canceled. With our hostess, we resolved the issue simply: we do not require a deposit back, she transfers our reservation to 2021. But in the case of the Caribbean, there is no formal cancellation of the flight, so we will not receive the money. It doesn’t make much sense to fly into full quarantine either, but today the dive shop wrote that, according to the latest hangouts, we can fly in with a negative test for Covid, come to them, sit in their resort in quarantine and at the same time dive from their boat. So it looks like we’re flying. Otherwise, we’re just sitting here on our ass and losing money. And there we also sit on our ass, but at the same time we dive a couple of times a day. My wife asked me if I could stand a week of such a life. “Yes, at least two!” was my answer. In general, everything can still change in one direction or another, but a certain light at the end of the tunnel has appeared.

Again we went to the neighbors’ garden from above to pick apples:
There were a lot of people, moreover, full of children. At some point, a family, consisting of a mother, grandmother and two boys of 9-12 years old, started talking to us.
–Aren’t you supposed to be at school? I asked the elder.
–They are! my grandmother assured me, and whinnied like only American women can.
Then we walked through the mountains in the Green River region, saw a small waterfall
It’s too early for autumn colors. On the trail there are such touching bridges,0604
On the way we finally listened to Remarque, who was tormented on the way from Florida. Remarque is a good, reliable writer, they don’t make them like that anymore. His characters have a strong male friendship, without any of your blue lights, they philosophize, constantly drink real Russian vodka, and love beautiful, especially refined women.
