Welcome to Ashburn Village Country Day School, a local family owned child care center with an educational orientation, located in Ashburn, Virginia. We have provided high quality child care and stimulating creative academic programs to children in Loudoun County, aged 6 weeks through 12 years of age since 1997.

Innovative educational programs are offered in both part-time and full-time preschool classrooms by our experienced and loving staff. A private full-day Kindergarten program as well as before and after school programs and summer camps are also offered.

Our center is full of natural light with colorful hand painted murals which immediately engage a childs curiosity and imagination.

We offer a state of the art Computer lab with ten individual stations where we provide a Computer Science program as part of our standard curriculum for two year olds and older. Award winning software is utilized to meet each childs individual needs. Letter and number recognition, reading and math skills, problem solving abilities and social development are just a few areas we focus upon.

Spanish as a foreign language is incorporated into the daily lesson plans of all of our children. Our creative curriculum makes learning a second language lots of fun!

Ashburn Village Country Day School is situated on 4 beautifully landscaped acres. We extend quality to the outdoors with individual playgrounds designed specifically for a childs age and interest. We offer a full size soccer field, sports court where a child can practice their basketball skills, volleyball court and a splash and play zone for continuous summer fun.

Our morning preschool staff is dedicated to creating a nurturing, loving and academic environment for your child on a part-time basis. This part-time program follows the Loudoun County Public School Calendar, and is offered 2, 3 or 5 days per week. The classes are in session each weekday morning for three hours each day. Three different programs are offered to two, three and four year olds. A hot lunch is included as part of the program.

Our Preschool Program focuses on developing a natural curiosity for learning. Our experienced and credentialed teachers utilize our creative curriculum to enhance learning. Our classrooms are designed for exploration enabling a child to build with blocks and other materials, pretend in the home living area, play on our creative age-appropriate playgrounds, paint a masterpiece, and explore books. Coming together for music and songs, Spanish lessons, science, story time and poetry, or visiting the computer lab, these preschoolers are sure to develop confidence in being part of a group.

A teacher who turned his home into a village kindergarten was awarded a special award

Lilya Davydova, a preschool teacher from the village of Klyuchi in the Chebarkul district, received an award for her significant contribution to the development of education. She went on a bold experiment, and in a village where there was never a kindergarten, she organized it right at home.

Like everything else in life, the idea of ​​a kindergarten was born by accident. After being unemployed for several years, Lilya Davydova received an offer from a neighbor to help prepare her child for school. Being a professional educator, Lilya Akrapovna, without hesitation, agreed. Then another neighbor came to the teacher, then another … So in the village of Klyuchi, a whole group of preschoolers gathered, whom Aunt Lily taught to write, count and read right at home.

The regional department of education treated such “arbitrariness” with understanding: there are sorely lacking places in kindergartens, and if you still manage to arrange a child, then you will need to take him to a neighboring village. Officials helped Liliya Akrapovna get all the relevant documents and set up a private kindergarten in her cottage. It was 10 years ago, and since then, several dozen Klyuchevskaya children have flown out from under the wing of Lily Davydova.

Because they love her, they know her – quotes the words of the head of the Department of Education of the district Larisa Zatokovenko, the newspaper “Yuzhnouralets”. – The teacher grows rose bushes on the site from the flowers that her parents give her annually. Another rose bush is planted to commemorate the graduation. As we can see, most of them take root. Many of my colleagues, heads of education departments, ask me to show them this kindergarten, most of them have never seen anything like it. The experience of Lily Akrapovna was even reflected in one of the scientific articles as an option for the development of children in the countryside.

The children come to Lila Akrapovna for about 4 hours: the kids learn to read, write and count from 9 am to 1 pm — Davydova’s short stay group works according to this schedule. Preschoolers even have time to feed here: special breakfasts are brought from neighboring Bishkil. However, that’s not all: a child’s day in this kindergarten begins with exercises, and lessons are interspersed with outdoor games. Twice a week a specialist comes here from the Bishkil kindergarten and teaches music to the kids.

— Some people say that preparing for school is learning to write, count and do other tricks. I don’t think so, – quotes “Yuzhnouralets” Lilya Davydova. – The main thing is that the child is used to living in a team. After all, children are all different, mostly domestic. It is necessary that they learn to play together, draw, support each other and treat their comrades kindly.

According to Lilya Akrapovna, the success of the 10-year existence of such a “self-made” kindergarten is not only in her enthusiasm, but also in the willingness of her parents to help her in everything. Often, adults not only help the kindergarten with repairs, but also happily participate in matinees, keeping company with their children in skits and learning rhymes. Lily herself jokes, says that by joint efforts in the Keys they built a real teremok.

Description of the project:

Construction sets used to create the project:

Wooden constructors “Teremok 1”, “Teremok 2”, “Teremok 3”, “Teremok 7”, “Teremok 9;

and LEGO constructors of the SYSTEM, TECHNIK series.

The central part of the project is the house of Uncle Fyodor, made of wooden constructor “Teremok 7”. The house is made without two walls, which allows you to show the interior of the Russian hut: a stove, a bed, a bench and a table, a rug. Uncle Fyodor himself sits on a bench by the window and drinks milk from his beloved cow Murka. Cat Matroskin sits on the stove and plays the guitar. The filling of the house is made on Lego plates and makes it possible to bring interior items outside and play the plot using cartoon characters. You can turn on the light in the house, since a lamp is installed in the house, wires are connected from the battery installed in the gaming transformer booth.

The courtyard is represented by front gardens with flowers, a path leading to the street, a place for drying clothes, a garden with beds, trees, a well and a fence with a gate. The cow Murka, the calf Gavryusha, and the neighbor’s kitten are walking in the yard.

To the right of Uncle Fyodor’s house there is a small house of the postman Pechkin with a porch. On the porch stands the postman Pechkin himself, in a peakless cap presented by the cat Matroskin. In the courtyard of the house there is a dog house and a small well.

To the left of Uncle Fyodor’s house there is another village house, on the porch of which a fat red cat is basking in the sun. Near the house there is a variant of a well made of a wooden constructor and an outdoor shower.

Near the house there is a pasture where domestic animals graze:

cows and sheep. Behind the house one can see a village pond with ducks swimming and a swan growing along the banks of cattails and water lilies.

Under the mountain is a village windmill made of Lego TECHNIK series, which is mechanically operated by turning the handle.

Behind the postman Pechkin’s house there is a country highway connecting the village with the city. Cars and a village tractor are moving along it.

One of the cars, made of Lego TECHNIK series, has a motor and control panel and can be driven by a child.

The project provides for places for further construction (points of growth) with sets of wooden constructor “Teremok” and Lego constructor. These are construction sites for the continuation of the project.

Description of the practical application of the project in children’s games

During the year, children learned how to build a stove, a well, a wooden house, furniture, trees, pets during the lego modeling classes.

The project allowed the children to recall the studied material and combine all the buildings into a single plot. Children got the opportunity to complete the buildings in their own unique transformation. So there were various options for the well, houses, pets.

The project gave older children the opportunity to reproduce a complete picture of the village landscape and village life, the decoration of the Russian hut, to get new ideas for creativity.
