Aaron Tippin made a rockin’ return to his hometown of Greer tonight performing at the Village Hospital Greer Family Fest. An energetic crowd, estimated at 6,500 by public safety officers, gave Tippin a rousing welcome.
Tippin performed his hits and shared the stories behind each song. He frequently waved to his friends and acquaintances in the crowd, often calling them by name.

Aaron Tippin’s return to Greer is days away with his performance at the Village at Pelham Greer Family Fest scheduled for 8 p.m. Saturday at Greer City Park.
Aaron’s debut album, “You’ve Got to Stand for Something”, was released in 1991 and its title cut became a Top Ten smash in the wake of the Persian Gulf War. Aaron was invited along on Bob Hope’s USO tour. Hope holds the microphone during a performance with the troops.

The Gibbs Cancer Center at Pelham celebrated a groundbreaking, forced indoors by rain, for a $7 million, 10,000-square foot facility offering radiation and medical oncology in one location. The Cancer Center will employ 15-20 associates when it opens in spring 2013.

A United States Army soldier participates in a dance-off competition after the Pat Tillman run on Forward Operating Base Salerno in Afghanistan’s Khost province. More than 200 runners participated in the run, which raises awareness of the Pat Tillman Foundation and pays tribute to the fallen comrade.
A “Walk of Honor” will be held Friday, May 5 at 7:30 p.m. at the Village at Pelham Greer Family Fest. Active military personnel of all armed services and veterans are invited to participate. Aaron Tippin will headline the night’s entertainment with his music including a patriotic medley.

The Gibbs Cancer Center at Pelham groundbreaking is scheduled Thursday at 10 a.m. The cancer center, which will mirror the Gibbs Center at Spartanburg Regional, will be built on the left side of the Village Hospital and have a walking bridge connecting both buildings.
A $6 million Gibbs Center facility was opened in Gaffney recently to serve Cherokee County cancer patients. The Greer facility will offer patients the same multidisciplinary care available at the Spartanburg Regional Gibbs Cancer Center.

Sixteen restaurants and food vendors will be at the Village Hospital Greer Family Fest May 4-5. Seven restaurants will occupy the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport Food Court in City Park. Nine other vendors will be located throughout the festival.
“We are excited to offer a variety of food choices and options in our Greenville- Spartanburg Airport Food Court and throughout the festival. A fixture of the local scene in the ‘70s, and even having shared a bill with Alabama in the ‘80s, he died in December 2007. Almost five years later, however, he has left behind a considerable legacy.
