Grapes Veronika – The World of Grapes

Views 1.1k. Published

From ancient times, our great-grandfathers learned to grow grapes, and over the years they developed crops that surpassed the previous ones in their characteristics.

Nowadays, it has acquired a new life due to its taste and aesthetic properties, and has also found wide application in medicine and cosmetology.

  • 4 To sum it up

Excellent taste for true connoisseurs

Growing a crop is a rather complicated process and requires a lot of patience. But with great dedication. The bred grape variety with its taste will please not only connoisseurs and ordinary connoisseurs.

Today there are not many good grape varieties. Among the outstanding and valuable are the table variety Veronica.

This grape was bred by a breeder under the name of E.G. Pavlovsky. A lover of good grapes could, by crossing the pollen of one variety of Victoria and the pollen of forms of European-Amur origin, get an extraordinary taste and aroma of Veronica.

The size doesn’t matter

Veronika is characterized by the small size of both the bush itself and the clusters on it. Shoot ripening ranges from 60% to 70%. The average bunch has a mass of approximately 270 grams. There are also larger ones up to 400 grams, but this is an exception. The average berry weighs up to 9grams, has an ovoid shape and the presence of bones inside. The average size is 26 * 23 mm, which indicates a sufficient size of the berry. In color, the grapes have a pinkish tint with a thin, unpalatable skin and juicy flesh inside. The harmonious taste of the pulp allows you to melt the hearts of even the most picky gardeners. Of the characteristics, the sugar contained in the juice can be noted – 11.4 g / 100 cubic cm. The acidity is 5.2 g / 1 cubic dm.

Regarding transportation, the berries tolerate it quite well, provided that the storage conditions are observed.

Predominantly, the plant has female-type flowers. This must be taken into account in subsequent pollination. The ripening period is usually very early, usually by mid-August, you can safely harvest. But if you do not remove the bunches from the bush immediately upon ripening, then the fruits will be able to retain their juiciness until mid-September, while ripening will be to the very tips, which will undoubtedly affect the taste. Thus, it is possible to allocate an average period of time from the appearance of the first buds to ripe berries, 110 days pass.

This variety has an extraordinary bouquet of aromas, in which the dominant role belongs to notes of nutmeg, which even more attracts true connoisseurs of beauty.

There is no limit to improvement

According to the breeders, this variety can be further developed. Namely, to increase the weight of the bunch and each berry separately, so that the taste becomes more tart.

As regards the tolerance and tolerance of the cold conditions of the Russian winter, the grapes are under close observation. But even now, moderate tolerance can be noted, provided that the bush is properly covered. For this, experienced gardeners do not even wait for the first frost, when frost appears on fallen leaves, because it may be too late. And around the beginning of October, they prepare everything necessary: sawdust, spruce legs, etc. And when certain conditions occur, they begin the process of closing the earth around the vine. After lowering the temperature to three degrees below zero, cover with a second layer. In this scenario, the bush will remain intact.

Veronica did not show itself in any way in relation to the most common diseases, but this does not give a final guarantee that the plant is resistant to all diseases. Breeders should observe the development in different conditions.

Mostly this type of grape is grown in the central part of Russia and in the south, which favorably affects its yield.

To summarize

I would like to say that under all conditions, Veronica captivates even the most biased connoisseurs.
