Program Information

OUR PHILOSOPHY
The Learning Center Child Development Preschool and the Robert Mayer Child Development Preschool provide opportunities for children to develop emotionally, socially and physically. We believe in an atmosphere in which each child is respected and free to experiment and investigate, free to have individual ideas, and free to master those ideas in a planned environment.
Children learn the pleasures of doing things for themselves, and thus develop a positive self-concept. Our program sets limits to help children learn safety, value of property and respect for the rights of others. We do not attempt to bring about quick changes; rather, we believe that with parent cooperation, positive learning experiences will establish a foundation for each child’s personal achievement.

CURRICULUM
The Learning Center Preschool is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the nation’s leading organization of early childhood professionals. Our accredited curriculum is designed to give children the opportunity to explore a wide range of developmentally appropriate activities within a warm and supportive environment. We believe that by developing a positive self-image (self-worth), children will reach out and develop new skills at their own pace.

The curriculum at our Robert Mayer Child Development Preschool mirrors that of our accredited Learning Center, providing the same high quality programs and activities.

Infant & Toddler Program (Ages 6 weeks-3 years):
The Infant and Toddler Programs offer a loving, caring, and nurturing atmosphere for children from ages 6 weeks to 3 years. Children are provided with a stimulating environment, which consists of learning experiences designed for the child’s total development, while respectful and trusting relationships are established between children and caregivers.

Preschool Program (Ages 3-6, fully potty trained):
Activities include creative art, music and movement, physical and natural science, language arts, gross and fine coordination skills, listening experiences dramatic play, and special events. A typical daily schedule will include circle time, art, nutrition break, outdoor play, music, story time, activity centers, quiet time and indoor play. We believe that children learn best when given a chance to explore, experiment, discover, and create in a caring atmosphere.

Depending on your family’s childcare needs, your child can be enrolled in the preschool from 2-5 days a week. The children eat lunch at 12:00pm and rest time begins at 1:00pm. Afternoons consist of a planned program of indoor and outdoor activities, individual and group experiences, with nutritional snacks provided by the Boys & Girls Club.

Transitional Kindergarten (TK) (Ages 4 ½ to 6):
The Learning Center Child Development Preschool and the Robert Mayer Child Development Preschool are offering a new opportunity perfect for 4 ½ to 6 year olds who do not yet meet the age requirements to attend Kindergarten: Transitional Kindergarten, commonly called TK.

Our new TK classroom follows the state Transitional Kindergarten guidelines including the California Preschool Learning Foundations and Curriculum Framework and the Common Core Standards set by the California Department of Education. To help every child reach the goal of being ready to succeed in school, our teachers plan curriculum that helps children develop social, emotional and academic skills. The TK curriculum includes language, literature, mathematics, technology, health and safety, artistic expression and appreciation, music and movement, handwriting, motor skills development, social skills development and much more. Our TK classroom has a low 1 to 12 teacher to child ratio. That means your child will get the attention they need and deserve.

The TK program follows the same extended day, year-round calendar as all of our other programs at the Learning Center Child Development Preschool and Robert Mayer Child Development Preschool. Working moms and dads can count on quality, educational care from 6:30am – 6:00pm. TK is available for full-time and part-time enrollment.

For more information about the TK program, call Sami Hour at the Robert Mayer Child Development Preschool at 714-899-5900 ext.2, call Chelo Loshak at the Learning Center Child Development Preschool at 714-593-0753 ext. 2, or stop by your nearest branch for a tour.

A Child-Centered Community

We strive for academic excellence through practical exercises in the areas of Language, Math, Geography, Science, Sensorial Activities and Practical Life. We commit to instilling in the child a natural and ongoing curiosity toward the world around them and create a true love of learning that will stay with the child throughout life. We strive to promote social graces and caring for each other and the world around them. To meet the needs of each child’s individual spirit, we allow them the freedom to explore, make mistakes, question and grow at a pace comfortable to the child. Our mission is to create a physical environment that allows a child to feel a sense of belonging, to feel safe and secure, to develop and strengthen their self-esteem. Finally, to hold firm to the words of Maria Montessori herself, “The education of the very young child does not prepare him for school, but for life.”

Exercises and Activities

The Language activities are designed to develop the child’s ability to communicate through spoken language, to explore the sound/symbol relationship, to express self through written work and to use skills gained in Practical Life and Sensorial work for sequencing and performing small controlled movements.

The objectives of Practical Life exercises are to help the child develop stronger concentration and coordinated movement. These exercises enable the child to adapt to his environment and establish independence.

The Sensorial materials help the child to develop order and clarity in thinking. They include activities to aid the child in classification, comparison, and contrast of size, weight, shape, texture, color, etc.

Hands-on Mathematics exercises explore ways in which quantities are related by identifying number symbols and associating them to quantities, and by exploring similarities and differences between quantities. The work progresses from concrete to abstract using manipulative materials.

Our students have the opportunity to find out just who they are, on their own timetable, in a child-centered environment where their individuality is cherished.

A warm and nurturing environment with a professional and well-trained, experienced faculty.

An innovative learning environment that fosters deeper thought and stimulates questioning and student-led research.

Our mixed-age classrooms allow for children to develop academically, socially, and emotionally at their own pace.

Natural play areas and gardens that the children assist in caring for, promoting responsibility and independence.

Home-like learning environments that the children assist in caring for, promoting responsibility and independence.

residents of our area

2 leader.
And we are the leaders (introducing ourselves)

1 tour guide.
The Baidar Valley is rich and fabulous! She is like a hymn to beautiful nature, she –
the cradle of ancient peoples, whose traits are embodied in us. She is a treasure
old ancient legends, songs and traditions, an inexhaustible source of joyful
feelings and impulses!

2 tour guide.

Our Baidar Valley

Has become close to me, there is no other to be found,

There is a natural force hidden in it,

It is easy to dream of beauty here.

People settled here with eagles,

Far from big cities.

You can listen to silence for hours

Over the vastness of forests and meadows.

I will fall into these thick herbs,

I will inhale the blue of the sky,

Listen to the birds in the sky call signs,

I am proud that I live in Baydary.

1 master.
These were heartfelt poems by our local poet V.Popov

3 tour guide .
The Baidarskaya valley is elongated for 16 km in the northeast
direction of an intermountain basin with a flat bottom, the width of which reaches 8
km. By geological origin – this is an uplift, that is, a sharp lowering
parts of the earth’s surface in the center of the valley and its gradual filling with small
stones, soil.

4 tour guide.
In our valley, there are peculiar natural and climatic conditions, a unique
landscape, rich flora and fauna. In addition, 19 monuments are concentrated here.
archeology, 4 cultural monuments, 5 architectural monuments.

2 master. I
one of such monuments is the Baydar gate (a story about them)

5 guide. Fabulous
Baidar Valley! Here the mountains rise like huge stone waves above the valley,
green hills of various shapes and heights form its second frame. In the mountains
you meet bizarre stone statues. They breathe magic and sorcery
beech, oak and hornbeam forests. And waterfalls from sheer cliffs, piling up
boulders and boulders refresh the memory of the legends of the cyclops and giants.

1 master.
Here he is, behind a flower

The stump is sitting,
overgrown with moss.

Branches lined up
in a row,

Sticking out in all directions.

2 master.
Only branches instead of hands,

Each finger is
bitches

1 master.
You tell me who is this?

Which of these
childbirth?

All barbed yes
shaggy,

Both eyes are like spades.

Like a Christmas tree stars
hang up…

Goblin. you
open your eyes! I am Leshy!

What went for the youth,

That is plain, it is not good.

No respect

To the older generation!

1 master. you
I’m sorry, well, I didn’t recognize it,

And I tore it off the case.

What is so strong
I was busy?

Goblin.
Garbage from the grass fished.

Everyone scatters rubbish.

So that I can clean up after him.

I am a forest guard,

I have a work experience.

Here for his patriotism

Earned rheumatism.

What are you doing here?

2 master. We
we brought guests on a tour, we want to show them our valley.

6 guide.
Baydarskaya valley is a real pearl. She is truly framed from all sides
priceless frame – the most significant relics in Crimea
juniper forests with their healing breath.

Goblin.
Ah, the juniper…

In recent years, one
of the most acute environmental problems is the mass cutting of this and other relict
plants from the Red Book. Yes, and the trouble with animals: shoot, set traps.
It was hard for me, Leshem, to cope with poachers.

7 guide.
A story about the problem of the Crimean red deer (with showing its antlers).

7 guide.
Look here, please. The valley is always good – both in winter and summer, in spring
and autumn, morning and evening…

How dazzling is the moon!

How mountains are outlined peaks!

Visible in the silvery twilight

Baydarskaya valley below…

2 leader. So
Alexey Konstantinovich Tolstoy wrote about her. Captivating views of the Baidar Valley
led to the indescribable delight of many travelers, poets and prose writers.
A.S. Pushkin, A.K. Tolstoy dedicated their poems to her,

A.B. Mitskevich, V.V. Mayakovsky,
I.A. Bunin.

Poems by I. Bunin.

Goblin. A
because there was a moment. When this beauty was threatened.

In 1931, a special commission under
the leadership of Gofshtein examined the limestone massifs of the Southern Coast of Crimea, in
area of Sudak, in Planersky, Orliny, Balaklava. The commission recommended to
development of Laspinsky (this mountain above the Tylov) and Balaklava massifs, so
how they were of high quality and satisfied by the size of the reserves. However
due to extremely unfavorable mining and technical conditions and due to economic
reasons (lack of railway), Laspinsky limestones were excluded from
plan for further development. And Balaklavskoye was recognized as promising, and now
have been intensively developed for many years.

Remember what Balaklava looks like
careers and their surroundings. Baydarskaya Valley is lucky so far! And that means we
you – I don’t like dusty nature, polluted air, asphalt, concrete,
cars, explosions in quarries!

8 tour guide.
Baydarskaya valley is rich in its waters! In the northeastern part of it flows
the Chernaya River is one of the most abundant rivers of the Crimean peninsula. river length
is 41 km, the basin area is 636 sq. km. It originates in the village area
Rodnikova, incorporates a system of 16 rivers, made its way into the rocky
soil, forming the Small Canyon of Crimea – Chernorechensky, which is declared
reserve at 1947 year. There are also rainbow trout in the river. And the water from
rivers drink residents of the city of Sevastopol.

1 master. Here
the river Baidarka flows,

Begins in the mountains.

Even in summer when
hot,

Shore all in
mugs.

2 master. A
sits by the shore

And has a strange
view.

All transparent,
like water

But there are hands
head.

1 master.
Hey guess who is this?

Water. Introducing myself
– Water!

1 master. What
your business?

Enlighten
hurry me.

Water.
I take out rubbish from the river.

Scary dirt not
I take out,

Pieces of iron, flasks,
cans,

Even sometimes donuts

I find it underwater.

It’s hard, but I’m dragging –

So I follow the river.

9 tour guide.
Did you know that the Kaydarka is one of the largest tributaries of the Black River.
Our ancient river, scientists suggest that it is already several centuries old. Begins
it is in the mountains on Bizyuk, flows through a rocky gorge. In its upper reaches
Yalta mountain forest reserve. The length of the river is 14 km. It has 4 lakes.
All stocked, with excellent resting places.

Water.
Many have a rest, but they also harm: they cut down trees along the banks, and from this the river
shallow, clog the riverbed. Therefore, I, Vodyany, have a lot of work to do.

2 master. Fountain.
For most modern people, the word “fountain” is associated with a pool, above
which shoots out jets of water. But in Crimea, the fountain has always been called beautifully
formatted source. There are many of them scattered along the Crimean roads, but some have dried up,
others were destroyed by the war. There are fewer active fountains. But how
the traveler rejoices when, on a hot day, he sees a cold, damp stream beating from
walls in a stone bowl.

10 tour guide.
Such a fountain stands in the village of Orlinoe, not far from the road to Yalta. He bent over
from time to time, the stone trough was overgrown inside with long algae, but still
a continuous stream of water flows from an iron pipe. The fountain is very old and its water
visible presence of the past. A.S. Pushkin, Adam Mickiewicz drank from the fountain, also
like thousands of other well-known and unknown people who were on their way from Sevastopol to
Yalta. But as before, a water jet falls into the stone bowl of the fountain …

Whoever you are: a shepherd, a fisherman

Or a weary wanderer,

Come and drink…

90 003 11 tour guide.
The special originality of our valley is given by the abundance of forest glades, where
primroses and violets, St. John’s wort and thyme, crocuses and peonies, orchis grow,
asphodelina, aromatic and very tasty strawberries, mushrooms.

Bouquet of
several violets –

Spring
delicate fragrance.

As
touching and pathetic.

And how
attracts the eye…

1 leader.
I did not have time to blink an eye,

In front of us here
introduced

Herbal
witch grandmother.

Like here
hobbling?

Kikimora. You
son, don’t be afraid,

I won’t miss you.

Look, pray,
I want,

If necessary, I will treat you:

I know drugs
a lot.

Oh, introduce yourself
it would be necessary:

You call Kikimora,

True, for friends –
Kiki.

1 master.

Ugh, green cholera,

I scared you too much!

Do you really live here?

What do you eat and what do you drink?

Kikimora.
Yes, son, don’t talk.

There is no worse land than mine.

I’ll find a berry before,

I’ll eat a mushroom,

I’ll squeeze the juice out of the sedge.

And now, what’s the use –

There is no stability in the valley.

People did a lot of harm.

Look how many of them live here!

12 tour guide.
Between the mountains of the Baydarskaya valley there are villages, each of which has its own
history. It is read in old names:

Orlinoe – Baydary (rich, magnificent),

Spring – Skeli (ladder),
fertile for growing honey),

Podgornoye – Kalenda (descending
fortress),

Kolkhoznoye – Uzundzha (rather long),

Advanced – Urkusty,

Pavlovka – Sakhtik (now it is already in
part of Orlinoe),

Rear – Khaita,

Novo-Bobrovka – Baga,

Rossoshka – Savatka,

Ozernoye and Kizilovoe – appeared after
WWII.

Total 12 villages in the Baidar valley.
Now they are expanding and improving.

1 master.

Look, meet us,

Pushing the forest, bushes,

Girl, there is no more beautiful,

All, as if from foliage.

The eyes of a virgin are blue,

Hair are rays of gold.

Holds a girl in her hands,

Fiery beautiful poppy.

Ecology. Who
dare to violate my peace,

Ecology?!

requested,

On Earth, people
living,

Do not litter more

Neither clearing nor forest.

In general, you should take into account:

Together with careful care

It is necessary to surround Nature,

So that the birds sing sweetly,

So that blizzards shoal in winter,

So that mushroom rain
passed,

So that everyone is fine.

13 tour guide.
Dear Ecology! Not all people from the Baidar Valley harm our nature.
Here we are, for example, members of the school forestry of school No. 47, we travel a lot around
surroundings, we study our nature, we try not to harm it and to help in some way and
Leshy, and Vodyanoy, and Kikimore. During hikes, excursions, ecological
landings we clean glades, springs from debris, remove poaching loops,
identify unauthorized dumps and clearings, plant trees and shrubs,
among students and the population we conduct lectures on respect for Nature. We
we love and cherish the Baidar Valley – our small Motherland.

1 master. A
here sits under a tree

Kind doctor
Aibolit.

And what care

Brought him to
swamp?

Dr. Aibolit.

Many useful herbs grow

On the land of the native country.

Helps against diseases

Mint, tansy, St. John’s wort.

From the gifts of the forest kingdom

People make medicine.

But the very nature of our valley
the best doctor. Look around you when you are in the forest, in the field, in the country.
Here is a wild rose bush with fragrant pink flowers, and next to it are thickets of white
chamomile, which looks at you with its yellow eye. Rustles temptingly
the leaves of the trees, inviting you to rest in the shade of their branches…

Breathe in and enjoy, listen to the singing
birds, the murmur of the stream! And I think that after such communication with nature, your
weariness and illness will be removed as if by hand.

2 master.
Oh guys! Shall we go to the forest?

Collect sage and
mint,

Delicate lilies of the valley
Narwem,

Their houses
put in a vase…

1 leader. What
does it work?

If I pluck
flower,

If you pick
flower,

If all: both me and
you,

If we break
flowers –

Empty all
glades,

And there will be no
beauty?!

Ecology. No,
you can’t do that! To protect our valley on an area of more than 24 thousand hectares
created in 1999 landscape botanical reserve of the national
significance, and since 1986 there has been a local nature reserve Orlinovsky (or
Baydarsky) to protect our rare plants.

2 master. We will provide
a word to our streams of environmental protection ( stories about nature reserves
reserves
).

1 master. Annually
Our school holds a month for the study and protection of primroses. These
early flowering herbaceous plants are the most vulnerable link in the natural
