I enjoy this school district because of its smaller size and larger initiative in providing teachers that care about their students. The smaller size of Urbandale as a city creates a more intimate feel and allows smaller issues to be addressed. UCSD Schools also takes care in employing educated and attentive teachers. In particular, I have seen this with my principals, as they ensure that each student feels safe and equal to others. I would like for this school district to alter its spending allotments. Recently I have noticed that UCSD focuses money on athletics and reconstruction of buildings over academic pursuits. The school district has spent money on a new weight room for the high school, as well as the rebuilding of two elementary schools. However, they have failed to direct more money to academic classes or events that would be beneficial in students’ futures, such as job fairs or field trips. In all, I am glad to reside within the UCSD and hope these minor issues are amended.

Urbandale High School is the reason the thought of leaving home behind is so heart-breaking. What I love most about Urbandale High School are the people you meet through activities. Throughout my high school career, I’ve gained family through activities such as dance team, showchoir, and other clubs. The coaches/ teachers in charge of those activities truly care about each and every person on their team. On the other hand, one thing I would like to change about Urbandale High School is the belief that students can learn from teachers talking at them. Students learn best when enjoyable lessons are incorporated into their learning experiences. Overall, Urbandale High School has been made an outstanding impact and has been a great experience.
The Urbandale Community School District as a whole is wonderful. I have never felt so supported and cared for by any other group of teacher. As I have grown older I have realized how blessed I have been to have had such wonderful and supportive role models. I have learned to not just be a good student, but also a good person. Respecting peers and adults is something that all of my past teachers have instilled in me, and it is something that I hold to a high standard today. If anyone were to be looking for a new school district Urbandale will welcome them with open arms.
