The Adventures of Mr. Peabody and Sherman – “A good, educational cartoon built on historical events.”

Now almost every evening we try to watch a new full-length cartoon with our daughter. And today we got to Mr. Peabody.

The whole cartoon is based on historical events and briefly shows important moments in world history.

So, briefly about Mr. Peabody:

The dog known as Mr. Peabody is a very versatile person. He is an inventor, businessman, scientist, Nobel laureate, gourmet and two-time Olympic champion. One day he got lonely and decided to adopt a child. One day he was walking down the street and saw a box in the alley. There he found a red-haired boy with glasses, and saved him. Upon learning that the baby’s name was Sherman and that he was an orphan, the dog adopted Sherman. For his birthday, Sherman received a Weiback time machine as a gift.

The first mention of the dog was in the cartoon “Rocky and Bullwinkle” he played one of the important roles there.

Sherman had a great time with the dog Peabody, they got along well, they were friends, they traveled through time…until Sherman went to school.

There he becomes the smartest in history lessons (well, of course, he personally met every historical figure), but his classmate Penny did not like it – and she starts to annoy him.

Penny calls Sherman a dog (well, since his father is a dog) against which a huge conflict is twisted.

Mr. Peabody, as the real father of , who wants to keep his paternity of the boy, tries to make amends with Penny’s parents with all his charm … and the children at this moment go on a trip.

Oh, these kids….

Penny – in the beginning he acts as a rather negative hero and does everything to harm Sherman.

Sherman , to be honest, he also gets stupid in a lot of places and because of him, Mr. Peabody gets into awkward situations and tries to save the children as soon as possible.

Then he saves Penny from a ridiculous marriage with Tutankhamun.

Because of their disobedience, children climb into the aircraft Leonardo Da Vinci.

By the way, the Mona Lisa smile joke is just 100!!!!

Then they end up in Troy . ..Sherman escapes from Peabody and the poor Dog again tries to save his wards.

In the end, children continue to break the rules and break the space-time continuum, which is why all the great historical figures of the whole world arrive in our time. And Washingtoncon and Leonardo Da Vinci and Einstein and Marie Antoinette meet each other. This creates a comical situation, of course it’s fun … well, guess who needs to clean everything up again? Of course Peabody…

At the end of the cartoon, the conflict between Peabody Sherman and Penny and all live happily ever after)))

The best cartoon in general, very informative, kind, teaches to love and respect each other … But these naughty children … oh … either I’m a strict mother, or old age comes)) (a bunch of boring) you have to obey parents, even if it’s a dog))) I have everything, enjoy watching))

Mr. Peabody is a brilliant talking dog. He speaks many languages, shines in science, business and sports, influences world politics … And also brings up a boy named Sherman, whom Peabody adopted as a baby. Since the dog somehow invented a time machine, Peabody and Sherman often go on excursions into the past and study history together. One day, the boy talks in class about what he learned from President Washington, and becomes the worst enemy of Penny, who is used to being the smartest in the class. Word for word, the children fight, and Peabody is forced to invite Penny and her parents to his house to make peace with them. When Sherman shows the girl a time machine, she convinces him to go into the past without the permission of the elders, and Peabody has to rescue the guys who ended up in Ancient Egypt.

Peabody and Sherman are characters from The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show that ran in the US from 1959 to 1964.

DreamWorks Animation is like a box of chocolates. You never know what movie you’ll get. Lately, though, the company rarely dips below a certain level, but last year’s Turbo made it clear that “rarely” doesn’t mean “never.” What kind of films does Adventure belong to – studio hits like Shrek and How to Train Your Dragon or studio failures like Turbo and Bee Movie?

Neither one nor the other. “Adventure” is somewhere in the middle. And, unfortunately, not in the golden mean. The main problem of the film is the same as that of the “Bee Movie” and “Shark Tale”. The picture is released in Russia with a rating of “0+”, but this is not a cartoon for preschoolers. And not for all juniors.

In the Russian translation of The Adventures of Mr. Peabody and Sherman, TV journalist Leonid Parfyonov voiced the title dog Agamemnon, Odysseus… Not every adult will immediately say who they are. And “Adventure” implies that the audience knows something about all of them, because otherwise the audience will not appreciate the scenes and jokes associated with these characters. The Lion King director Rob Minkoff and his team drew not so much an educational tape as a cartoon for educated viewers. Which at the same time is not mature enough (or not versatile enough) to seriously captivate teenagers and parents. The ideal audience for Adventures is a ten-year-old nerd with an interest in history and sci-fi who doesn’t expect emotional depth from cartoons (hello Frozen!) and who enjoys time-jumping, deadly adventures and historical gags interspersed with toilet humor ( Guess from which end of the Trojan horse the Greek warriors get out). Of course, there are such children. But does your child fit this description? And should the studio have chosen a time-travel plot for a children’s cartoon that would have been more organic in a teen movie (salut, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure!)?

Tape problem number two is Mr. Peabody. He’s too cool. Batman is not worthy to tie his shoelaces. The doctor from “Doctor Who” is not worthy to give him toilet paper. Tony Stark doesn’t deserve to be in the same room with him. Mr. Peabody can do everything, knows everything, knows everything, and he does not lose his composure even when he is put on the guillotine. He has no Achilles’ heel – neither physical, nor mental, nor emotional. And that makes him more of an annoying than impressive character. A well-designed superhero must be vulnerable, and he has no right to be flawless. “Adventure”, however, is trying to make Peabody’s “dogness” an Achilles’ heel (when Sherman fights at school, a harsh aunt from guardianship tries to prove that the dog has no right to raise a person, and outright discrimination briefly infuriates the dog). However, this is a side story, not a main storyline, and it cannot compensate for the fact that during the actual adventures Peabody is impeccable and that he does not even have to jump over his head at the climax of the tape.

However, if you ignore all of the above, then “Adventures” will seem lively, entertaining, perky and sometimes non-standard and sincere cartoon with high-quality animation.
