Architectural mosaic.

Aug. 2015 • Family vacation

We read about this street in the guidebook. A very worthy place to see. Pretty calm traffic, almost no cars. You can safely drive and take pictures from your window or park if necessary. hiding behind them. Many historically and architecturally interesting houses with different styles. I would recommend bus city tours to include this area in a sightseeing tour. This street has greatly improved the idea of Dallas as a city (where not only new high-rise buildings and such architectural gems.) Squirrels run around the houses.

A walk through the past

May 2022

A beautiful shaded street where you can stroll along admiring these mansions. We were lucky enough to visit some of them during the open house festival. Quite a few mansions and quite a lot, and the streets are well worth a stroll if you’re into architecture and gardens. Free parking on the street, in the shade.

Beautiful Swiss Avenue

June 2021 • For Two

The perfect time to visit Swiss Avenue and see gorgeous homes with beautiful manicured yards. The houses are as majestic as ever, but some of them are still waiting for the day when they are restored to their former glory! Better yet, park and walk around the area!

If you like old houses!

dec. 2019

Very beautiful historic area, famous for old wooden houses. Some of them are over 100 years old. If you like old houses, I would recommend that someone take you slowly to swiss avenue to enjoy them. Of course, you can also walk if you like to take pictures – there are side walks.

Attractive Dallas area

June 2019 • For two

The earliest houses date from 1905, but most of the 200 or so houses were in 1920s. We drove about 10 blocks of Swiss Avenue and saw many attractive houses and a large number of architectural styles. The Swiss Avenue Historic District is on the National Register of Historic Places. It is interesting to see where many of the wealthy Dallas residents settled during this period.

Big Old Dallas

dec. 2017 • With friends

The Swiss Avenue Historic District is the first so-called city of Dallas. It also has a state designation and is listed on the National Register of Public Places. Architecture lovers will be especially welcomed with the neighborhood. Visitors can ride the distance or join joggers, dog walkers and strollers on the sidewalks. Its value is not a particular residence, but a boulevard taken as a whole: successive failures, wide front lawns, two stories, and the fact that the architecture is a variety of American Revival styles of predominantly Western European originals. There are national registration plaques along the way, as well as the history of the surrounding area in the sahd. org. The mansions in Switzerland were built by the wealthy class of early 20th century Dallas: bankers, oilmen, ranchers, insurance titans, and merchants. The houses on Bryan Parkway, Bryan Street, Live Oak, and LaVista were first owned by Swiss children, school principals, shopkeepers, and other middle-class families. Swiss Avenue is especially beautiful during the Christmas season, when houses and trees are adorned with sparkling lights and front porches are adorned with fresh greenery. The architectural integrity of the area is protected by city ordinance. Homeowners must secure permission to make any changes to front facades, and requests for changes or additions are often denied. Changing the paint color of even the front door has to go through a permit system. However, several new homes are filling empty lots, and the Dallas City Council has canceled architectural historians and curator staff over the years to allow for changes. Block 6000 Bryan Parkway, a mixture of cottages, aircraft bungalows, arts and crafts and other styles, is the only one in the entire area with its original integrity. You can stand at one end of the block and look across the front porches to the far end and see successive failure planning, which is rare in Texas divisions these days. Every Mother’s Day weekend, the neighborhood hosts a tour of the houses.

Charming old house but not much to do

March 2017 • Family vacation

I don’t like this attraction. There are some beautiful old buildings, but that’s about it. It’s not very fun, a little boring.

Nice historic residential sectoin but not many people walking around enjoying it for days

Nov. 2016 • Business

I’m a big fan of residential architecture and nice well kept neighborhoods with awesome reversal of restrictions. I like to pass this part of the city, but perhaps I am visiting at the wrong time of the day? I have never seen many people at times or actively enjoying this cool area.
