Safety Is Our Priority
Summer Program Safety Measures
The YMCA is committed to providing a safe space for youth to thrive and will continue to follow all current City, and State ordinances.
As of March 26, 2022, all city and state restrictions have been lifted, including capacity, distancing requirements, and indoor requirement of masks – so currently, indoor masks are optional at *YMCA facilities. However, our YMCA will continue to:
- Support anyone who chooses to continue to wear a mask.
- Ask program participants, members, and staff to stay home if feeling unwell, have a fever or per CDC guidelines are recommended to quarantine. Even if program participants, members, and staff test negative for COVID-19, we ask that they not return to the Y or program until they are fever-free for at least 24 hours and have no or improved symptoms.
- Encourage frequent hand-washing and/or use of hand sanitizer dispenser and cleaning per CDC guidelines.
*Indoor masks are still required for students/staff who are in programs on Hawaii State Department of
Education (DOE), City and County of Honolulu Summer Fun, University of Hawaii, and Nu’uanu
Congregational Church sites, and in Department of Human Service
regulated preschools and Early Learning Centers.
Y Members or Program Participants Who Test Positive for COVID-19
Y Members or Program Participants who have symptoms or test positive for COVID-19 are asked to contact their health care provider or use and follow the CDC online
calculator tool guidelines which may include quarantine, isolation, extended mask wearing, and other safety actions.
If the CDC tool determines that they may have exposed any close contacts at the YMCA, Members/Participants are to:
- Notify their Y with:
- Date of their positive test or onset of symptoms.
- Dates they were last at the Y or in program.
- They may notify our Y by contacting their program site director, or the Executive Director of their Y Branch, or call our Service Center at 808.678.4296, Monday through Friday, 8 am – 5 pm.
The Y will notify close contacts and provide:
- The date of their possible last close contact to a person who tested positive for COVID-19.
- Ask that they contact their health care provider or use and follow the CDC Online Calculator tool guidelines which may include quarantine, testing and extended mask wearing.
- The identity of the person positive with COVID-19 WILL NOT be disclosed.
Camp Erdman Safety Measures
Safety is Our Top Priority
We are committed to providing safe and meaningful camp experiences this summer.
We will continue to update our procedures based on any additional public health guidance changes, and we will let you know of those changes.
What health and safety measures are you taking?
- We have changed the physical layout within our facilities and the style of our programs to maximize enjoyment and learning as well as keeping our campers comfortable and safe.
- Ohana Groups – we tend to do most of our programming in smaller family groups so that kids develop relationships and we have consistency in our programming. At times we do larger group activities where we encourage children to interact with others as appropriate.
- We believe the outdoors to be a place where learning and growth and activity is best experienced. When indoors we open the windows to ensure the ocean breezes become part of our program delivery.
- Campers and staff will wash and sanitize their hands between each activity and before and after each meal.
How will you be screening overnight campers and staff for COVID-19?
We ask parents/caregivers to make sure their child is healthy prior to coming to day or overnight camp. During the course of their time with us we observe campers’ health situations and if someone is sick/injured we provide onsite care through our health nurse and at the same time ask parents to come and pick up their child.
Any camper or staff member that exhibits symptoms will activate our Health Safety Response Plan, which will include isolation from our camp population and if the illness has any COVID-19 symptoms we do a COVID test. Regardless of the health condition we contact parents and work on the appropriate course of action given the situation.
What is the mask policy at camp?
We follow the local governmental health guidance relative to masking. Effective March 26, 2022, our State has masks as optional both indoors and outdoors. If the situation changes we will adjust to the then appropriate guidance and communicate that to parents. We respect anyone’s choice to use a mask if we are in a state where they are not required.
What is the cabin cohort size?
Resident Camp Ohana Groups – one cabin each – are composed of up to 14 children with 2 counselors. Day Camp Ohana Groups are composed of up to 12 campers and 1-2 trained counselors.
What will happen if there is a confirmed COVID-19 case at camp?
At this time local health officials are not requiring contact tracing of cases due to the low case rates and risks. If changes in COVID guidance were to change, we will follow the new guidance and keep you updated.
Our priority is keeping our campers, families and staff safe. We will follow the latest protocol from the CDC, state and county, and make decisions accordingly.
What happens if my child gets sick while at camp?
Given the nature of COVID-19, we will send children showing symptoms of COVID-19 home for further testing and clarification. Upon being cleared of communicable illness, we welcome your camper back to camp. Our Camp Nurse and Medical Director always treat a child experiencing illness at camp very seriously. We work closely with our medical staff, as well as the camper’s parents and guardians to determine the best course of action for a camper who may need either further medical care, or to return home as the situation dictates.

Summer Day Camp at the Y continues to be a place for youth to thrive. Specially crafted activities promote exploration, friendship, leadership, and learning that results in an increase in their confidence, well-being, and connection to the community. Each branch will feature weekly projects and activities with lots of time for being outdoors, crafts, sports, and other enriching fun. Each YMCA and program site designs their program to meet the needs of their own youth and community. All elementary-age Summer Day Camps will include age-appropriate weekly activities that meet youth’s most pressing needs:
- Literacy: Y programs help youth develop their vocabulary and comprehension through activities that include reading, writing, drawing, and storytelling. Whether it’s through our library of books, guest readers and storytellers, or creating their own story, the Y builds lifelong learners and strengthens youth’s confidence in and out of the classroom.
Bonus: Special evidence-based Literacy Instruction programming will be included, at no additional cost, in all Day Camps for students who have completed grades K – 5, and our Na AlaKa’i MIddle School Day Camp for students who have completed grades 5 – 8. Research and experience shows that youth who participate in academic instruction for a minimum of 60 minutes a day for five weeks will not only maintain their level of understanding, but expand their depth of knowledge, leaving them prepared to start the new school year ready to go!
- Social Emotional Learning: now, more than ever, it’s critical we help youth connect, build lasting friendships, and grow their confidence to be their best self. Y programs are a safe space to explore their individual needs, wants, and dreams and how that compliments others in the group and community. Y staff will facilitate age appropriate activities that develop healthy identities, understand and manage their emotions, show empathy, and the confidence to make responsible choices.
- Understanding Diverse Cultures: This year’s summer programs will elevate the uniquely diverse communities we live in. Activities will promote individual awareness and exploration of each youth’s own culture and the value they bring.
- Mental & Physical Well-Being: Youth Development goes beyond exercise and eating right. Youth are faced with a unique set of challenges. This summer’s Y programs will continue to include activities that get youth moving through sports, team challenges, and group games, but will include weekly activities that promote mental well-being. Age appropriate activities will include managing tough situations, exploring what makes them feel certain emotions, building their communication toolboxes, and how that is all connected to being their best selves.

The best children’s camp for the holidays of 2022 in the Moscow region
For almost 70 years, a children’s camp for children and teenagers has been open in the Moscow region – Gagarin Children’s Health Resort. This is a one-of-a-kind country camp that has taken all the best from the past and is currently introducing modern technologies. Children’s health resort named after Gagarin is located near the town of Stupino, in a picturesque and cozy place in the south of the Moscow region in a forest among centuries-old pines.
Children aged from 5 to 17 years old get here everything they need for a great holiday, namely:
- comfortable living conditions;
- five healthy meals a day;
- ample opportunities for sports;
- development of creative potential;
- experience of joint interaction;
- sea of communication and fun!
The official website of the children’s camp will reveal to you all the possibilities of our Health Resort and show you the most picturesque places. Children can come to the country camp named after Gagarin at summer holidays, winter, autumn and spring . At any time of the year we have an interesting entertainment program. Convenient location in the Moscow region will allow parents to visit their child at any time.
Previously, the camp was attended by 350 children per shift, and today the children’s camp is already able to accept 503 people. The shift lasts 21 days, during which the guys get a lot of impressions.
The Gagarin children’s health resort is among the 10 best camps in Russia according to the All-Russian rating of representation of children’s country camps. The All-Russian rating is a single ranked catalog of children’s health camps. Currently, the Rating contains information about 823 camps from 69 regions of Russia. The rating is published in open access on the website: www.rate.mosgortur.ru. And we rank 3rd among 266 camps in the Central Federal District of the Russian Federation.
Based on the results of the summer health campaign 2021 The Gagarin Children’s Health Resort took 1st place in the competition of recreation and recreation organizations for children located on the territory of Moscow Region.
On the official website of the children’s camp you will find a detailed description of the programs used and for the comprehensive development and health improvement of children , all prices for services and recreation .
Children’s vacation in the Gagarin Health Resort is a real space journey
Since 1963, the Children’s Camp near Moscow has been named after the world’s first cosmonaut, Hero of the Soviet Union, Yuri Alekseevich Gagarin. He personally wrote to the pioneers of those years in his letter: “I consider myself a great honor that your camp will bear my name. I wish you to always be ahead!” This letter is carefully kept in the Health Resort Museum. In Zdravnitsa, a lot is connected with the theme of space exploration, which is interesting for children of all ages.
All those who come to rest in the children’s camp for the holidays become members of the children’s organization “My Galaxy”. For 20 years now, Zdravnitsa has its own children’s self-government, and the detachments are called “crews” and choose their own commanders and navigators.
The suburban camp near Moscow even has its own “ Baikonur ”. This is a game complex, reminiscent of the launch pad of the cosmodrome. Fascinating transitions, stairs, antennas for receiving signals from the depths of space – all this is included in the playground.
The symbol of the youth camp is its own Observatory . At night, you can view the Milky Way and watch the starry sky. We believe that your child will definitely like children’s holidays in the Gagarin Health Resort.
What entertainment can a children’s camp offer for the holidays
It is almost impossible to describe in one sentence the entire range of recreational activities offered by the Moscow Region camp for children and teenagers. There is everything for the versatile development of your child.
Children’s health resort named after Gagarin near Moscow offers:
- heated indoor and outdoor swimming pools;
- extensive sports complex – football field, training field with artificial rotation for the “DZG Football School”, tennis court, volleyball and streetball courts, universal sports field with artificial turf, badminton field, 2 mini-football fields, artificial turf field for playing floorball;
- tourist town “Romantic”;
- modern cinema and concert hall “Star”;
- autodrome, where children over 11 years old are taught to drive a car;
- classrooms and creative workshops;
- medical base, equipped with all necessary equipment.
Carefully selected staff of the camp surrounds each child with attention and creates a friendly atmosphere. Arriving at the children’s camp at spring , summer , autumn and winter holidays , the guys will learn to live in a team, while necessarily developing their individuality.
Our main task is to make children’s holidays useful and meaningful. We strive to ensure that children do not just have fun, but can get new interesting and useful skills, learn additional information, learn to be independent and, most importantly, make new friends.
All activities in Zdravnitsa are aimed primarily at team building. At the same time, we create conditions for individual victories.
If you are looking for a good children’s camp in the suburbs, then our Zdravnitsa is at your service!
Opportunities for creativity and intellectual development
in the Gagarin Children’s Health Resort
A modern summer camp for children and teenagers invites children to attend exciting creative workshops, study classes, hobby groups and master classes.
Program for the development of relevant technical competencies in children and adolescents “A ticket to the future” allows children to master the elements of computer literacy, skills and abilities to work with modern technical means, successfully develop their creative abilities, imagination, intellectual activity and form communication skills.
The program is implemented in the classrooms:
- astronomy;
- computer and computer programs;
- robotics and legoconstruction;
- 3D modeling;
- suit making;
- carpentry;
- car business, etc.
Children’s health resort named after Gagarin also organized groups:
- wood burning;
- art studios;
- for salt dough modeling;
- origami and various paper crafts;
- for the creation of souvenirs from ribbons, beads and beads,
- for the production of mosaic paintings;
- to create dolls in national costumes and many others.
In addition, our health resort hosts sports competitions in team sports – football, mini-volleyball, volleyball, basketball, streetball, floorball, tag rugby, rounders. We teach children sports games ringo, sniper, gorodki. All children can take part in sports competitions in general physical training, air rifle shooting and archery, table tennis, badminton, darts tournaments, checkers and chess.
In our health resort every day is filled with interesting activities. Together with the children, we create a modern space for creativity and active development of children. Creative festivals and competitions held in Zdravnitsa create a unique atmosphere of inspiration, creativity and new ideas. Children prepare for performances and perform on stage, take part in quests and game programs.
We try to make it difficult to find a camp for children and teenagers better than ours in the entire Moscow region. Every year we give vivid emotions to hundreds of children, which makes them come back to us again and again!

Sopchikova Natalia, son Daniel 14 years old
John Johnson is an excellent teacher. His education and teaching experience at the university is a big plus. All classes have a system and strategy. Also a plus is the variety of teaching materials (i.e. not only studied from one book, but also used other different materials).
Manzhos Elena, daughter Olga 15 years old
Being a native speaker provides an invaluable opportunity to practice the language. You can always get reliable information not only about grammar, but also about the culture and history of the country. Classes are always held in a friendly and positive atmosphere, and the staff always promptly solves any problems. Three years of teaching experience allows me to recommend this training center, as classes give real results in the form of diplomas, olympiads and more!
Kochilova Irina, sons Artem and Daniil
The child looks forward to the start of classes and does his homework with pleasure, hurries to do it right after classes. Super teacher! In just 1 year of study, the child has reached a very good level. He has a growing interest in learning the language. Very colorful and interesting books. Reading them obviously will not get bored, I want to see it all.
I liked learning in the form of a game, material, songs, dances, films, comics, with the help of which children learn.
Everything takes place in the form of a game and knowledge is given to children at ease. This does not cause dislike in children. I think that at this age the main thing is to instill a love for learning the language, which the teacher has been quite successful so far. Both we and the child are satisfied with the education. Thanks to my child’s teacher!
Yulia Masterova, son Kirill 10 years old
I like the curriculum and the approach of the teacher. I really like the program and the approach of our teacher to teaching children. The program is very complementary to the school. I see the results of my son’s education! Thank you!
Altukhova Ekaterina Gennadievna, son of Silitraru Artemy (13 years old)
The child likes to attend classes with a native speaker. The atmosphere of the courses is not aimed at “shaking out” knowledge, so the child easily attends them, even if he does not always do his homework. Compared to grades at school, the level is quite high. At the school Olympiads, he occupies the top positions. Satisfied with the courses.
