The length of the streets – 8.4 km, all paved. The housing stock is 18,088 sq.m. One family lives in the fishing grounds.

The encyclopedia “History of Siberia” mentions that in the second half of the 17th century there was already a village of Laryak with 10 houses with a Russian population. In the reference book “List of populated places in the Siberian Territory” (1929 year, Novosibirsk) says: “… Lariak arose in 1816 …”. However, it is also known that the Church of the Sign in Laryak was built in 1772. Its ministers lived at the expense of the “voluntary alms” of the parishioners, who numbered 243 people.

According to the oral traditions of the Vakh Khanty, their ancestors in the distant past, even before the arrival of the Russians, lived on the As-Yakh (Ob) River and its vast water meadows. The reason for the resettlement from the Ob to the Vakh is most likely the wars with the Tatars, who in the 16th century seized the lands of the Irtysh and the middle Ob and pushed back the Ostyaks who lived there. In turn, the Khanty drove the Nenets to the Taz River. By the end of the 16th century, the Russians came here.

In 1925, with the advent of Soviet power, the Native Council was formed in Laryak. In 1928 – Laryaksky Tuzrik, or the Indigenous District Executive Committee with subordination to the Aleksandrovsky District Council of the Tomsk District. In those years, the village was located: the village council, a school, a joint-stock company “Raw materials”, a shop. According to the 1926 census, the population was 172; Russians dominated. The village council, formed in 1928, did a lot of work to help the poor and limit the rights of the kulaks and shamans, to eliminate illiteracy. Organized fishing and hunting artels. In the same year, a boarding school for 20 people was opened, including 10 places for Ostyak children.

In the 1940s and 1950s, fishermen and fish collective farms were formed throughout the Laryak region. Six fish collective farms were based on the territory of the Lariak Council: “Drummer of the Second Five-Year Plan”, “Iskra”, “Named Voroshilov”, “Named Zyryanov”, “Red Star”, “Northern Fisherman”. In total, 25 fish collective farms worked in the Laryaksky district. During the war, 460 people went to the front, 116 returned. To help the front, the inhabitants sent potatoes, fish, and furs. After the war, the expansion of the production bases of collective farms began, and cage breeding of fur-bearing animals was organized. At 19In the years 1955-58, collective farms were enlarged: instead of 25, there were only eight of them.

In 1960 the population was 1,700. Three buildings were built for the hospital, a maternity hospital, a polyclinic, an anti-tuberculosis department, a boarding school, training workshops with a gym, a separate boarding school for girls, a canteen, and a boiler room.

For more than 30 years, Lariak has been a cultural center for the national population of the upper reaches of the Vakh. 146 children were brought up in a boarding school; four doctors were in the hospital around the clock; There was a post office and a library. Fish and furs were accepted here.

With the discovery of oil and gas fields, radical transformations began on the territory of the Laryak region. Residents of the district had to learn new professions: driller, geologist, geophysicist.

In 1964, it became necessary to transfer the regional center from Laryak to Nizhnevartovsk. At the same time, the Nizhnevartovsk coop farm was located in Laryak – one of the largest enterprises in the region, which was engaged in breeding fur-bearing animals (blue fox, silver-black fox), collecting wild plants (mushrooms, nuts, berries), shooting fur-bearing animals (squirrel, hare, arctic fox, fox).
