Wouldn’t send my kids to this place, woman who runs seems nice enough but turned out to be a monster. Only in it for money. Will keep your deposit and terminate you at any time. Walked in a few times early and kids were unattended. Many better options nearby to spend your hard earned money.

7 Sensational Essay Hooks That Grab Readers’ Attention

Do you want people to feel excited when they read your essay?

The secret is to get them interested in reading your essay by making the first part of your introduction intriguing. The best way to do that is by using attention-grabbing essay hooks.

So, what is a hook? It’s a piece of writing at the beginning of your essay that engages your reading audience. Usually, a hook is a sentence or group of sentences that draw people into reading your essay or research paper.  A hook sparks a person’s curiosity. When you write essay hooks that make your readers curious, you’ve taken the first step toward making them fall in love with your writing. Let’s dive in and look at essay hooks that will elevate your writing style!

7 Types of Essay Hooks

Here are 7 writing hooks that make readers want to find out what you will say in the rest of your essay.

  1. Interesting Question Hook
  2. Strong Statement/Declaration Hook
  3. Fact/Statistic Hook
  4. Metaphor/ Simile Hook
  5. Story Hook
  6. Description Hook
  7. Quotation Hook.

1.  The Interesting Question Hook

An interesting question hook is when you ask a question that relates to your essay or paper. And the only way a person can know the answer to that question is by reading your writing.

People are inquisitive. When we hear or read a question we want to know the answer. If we don’t have an answer then we need to find out.

So, when you start your essay with a question hook, this signals to your readers that if they keep reading you’ll give them the answer.

Here’s an example of an interesting question hook on the topic of succeeding in college:

What is the difference between successful college students and unsuccessful college students?

The goal of this essay hook is to make you want to learn what students who succeed in college do, and what college students who don’t succeed in college do wrong.

2.  The Strong Statement/Declaration Hook

A strong statement hook is a sentence that makes an assertive claim about your topic. It connects to the thesis statement and shows the importance of your essay or paper.

A strong statement is a great technique because it doesn’t matter if your reader agrees or disagrees with your statement. They will want to see how you support your statement.

This is an example of a strong statement on the topic of the vegan diet.

Vegans are the healthiest group of people in the world.

This statement either supports your point of view about the vegan diet, or it makes you want to argue against it (especially if you love meat). Either way, you are curious about what the writer says.

3.  The Fact/ Statistic Hook

Facts and statistics hook your reader because they give real information about a topic. You can impress your reader with your knowledge and evidence from the very beginning of your essay. But, you need to include facts that are accurate, interesting, and reliable. Evaluate your information and make sure it comes from a credible source. Some places to visit for statistics are The Pew Research Center https://www.pewresearch.org/, and The CIA World Fact Book, https://www.cia.gov/the-world-factbook/.

Here’s an example of a factual hook about an essay on gun ownership in the United States.

Almost two-thirds of American adults at some point in their life lived in a home with at least one gun.

The Pew Research Center, “America’s Relationship With Guns: An In-Depth Look at the Attitudes and Experiences of US Adults”  http://www.pewsocialtrends.org/2017/06/22/americas-complex-relationship-with-guns/

4.  The Metaphor / Simile Hook

The metaphor/simile hook engages your readers because it makes them think about a topic in a different way.  Your audience wonders what you mean and how you compare a topic to something that seems unconnected.

A metaphor is a figure of speech that directly compares one thing to another, but these two things seem unrelated.   An example of a metaphor is: Her boyfriend is a rat.  The boyfriend is not really a rat, but he behaves like one.

If your essay topic is on business blogging you could write the metaphor hook:

A business blog is a magnet pulling clients to a company.

A simile is like a metaphor.  Both compare two unrelated things to each other, but a simile uses the words like or as to connect them. A simile is less strong than a comparison in a metaphor. An example of a simile is: Writing a research paper is like running a marathon when it’s 95 degrees Fahrenheit.

A simile hook for the essay about business blogging could be:

A business blog is like a magnet that pulls clients to a company.

5. The Story Hook

This is a hook where you begin with a short story or episode that relates to your topic.  Readers love stories, especially a well-written story that is memorable.  The key to a great story hook is making sure the story directly connects to your essay or paper topic. Your story can be personal or someone else’s story.

Here’s an example of a story hook for an essay about the differences between British and American English.   I used my own story about a trip to England.

I got off the train and pulled my luggage behind me.  A cab pulled up to the curb, and the driver got out.  He lifted my luggage and said, “Miss, I’m just going to put your stuff in the boot.”  I didn’t know what he meant until I saw him open the car’s trunk.  Then I realized the boot means car trunk.  I got in the cab, wondering how many other words would be different in England.

You’ll see this story hook is longer than other types of essay hooks.  That’s okay. Your hook can be longer, but it shouldn’t be a large part of your essay or paper. Compare the length of your hook to the length of the essay.

Also, consider your audience (especially an academic audience). Ask yourself, “Will a story hook be acceptable in this course?” If you’re unsure you can ask your teacher or professor or you could select a different type of hook.

6.  The Description Hook

This is a hook where a vivid description of a scene draws your readers into your writing. A good description hook will make your reader want to know what comes next in your writing.  It’s most popular in narrative essays, but you can use a description hook with any type of writing (yes even academic papers). But, like the story hook ask yourself, “Will this description hook be acceptable in this course?”

Here’s an example of a description hook for a personal narrative essay about saving a dog:

The dog howled in pain and limped along the side of the road. His leg was cut and blood streamed down his leg.

Doesn’t this scene make you curious about what will happen to the dog?

7.  The Quotation Hook

This is a hook where you begin your essay with a quotation.  The quotation could be from a famous person, but it doesn’t have to be. You can quote anyone if it connects to what you’re writing about.

If you write an essay on the topic of education you could start

Nelson Mandela said, “Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.”

If you want to use a quotation for a hook, make sure you quote the words exactly.  Choose quotations where the words are striking, powerful, and/ or memorable.

McLaughlin starts second IndyCar season with sensational pole

Scott McLaughlin beat his Team Penske team-mate and St Petersburg specialist Will Power to earn his maiden IndyCar pole position at the 2022 season-opener.

McLaughlin had topped the final practice session before qualifying and was right in the mix during IndyCar’s Fast Six pole shootout.

Power set two laps good enough to top the session until McLaughlin’s last-ditch effort moved him up to pole on a 59.4821s.

It meant McLaughlin – who had near zero single-seater experience before leaving Australia’s Supercars touring cars series for IndyCar at the end of 2020 after three straight titles – claimed his first IndyCar pole and he’ll share the front row of the grid with Power after beating him by 0. 1237s.

McLaughlin had only once previously qualified in the top 10 in his short IndyCar career.

Power has taken nine of the last 12 IndyCar poles at St Pete but had to settle for second, with Andretti Autosport’s Colton Herta rounding out the top three.

Ed Carpenter Racing driver Rinus VeeKay was fourth ahead of Andretti’s Romain Grosjean, who recovered from a practice crash with Takuma Sato that left him with bruises.

The top six was completed by Simon Pagenaud in his first qualifying session with the Meyer Shank Racing outfit.

Chip Ganassi Racing’s leading trio of drivers all failed to advance to the Fast Six with six-time Scott Dixon seventh ahead of ex-Formula 1 driver Marcus Ericsson.

Dixon survived on a brush with the Turn 9 wall while on the black primary tyres and then believed he missed the optimum window on his red soft tyre run.

Penske’s two-time series champion Josef Newgarden was ninth with unspecified “issues” and “things in the background working against us”, and defending champion Alex Palou rounded out the top 10.

Feb 21 : Everything you need to know about the 2022 IndyCar season

Graham Rahal had two new team-mates alongside him at Rahal Letterman Lanigan but neither were able to outqualify him. Rahal claimed 11th on the grid ahead of the highest-placed 2022 rookie Kyle Kirkwood in his first IndyCar qualifying session.

Alexander Rossi just missed out on a place in the Fast 12 and will line up 13th as a crucial year with Andretti begins.

AJ Foyt’s Dalton Kellett earned his best IndyCar qualifying result in 14th place ahead of RLLR’s newcomer Christian Lundgaard and Arrow McLaren SP’s Pato O’Ward – who bent a tow-link when he clipped the wall at Turn 9.

MSR driver Helio Castroneves will share the ninth row with Andretti rookie Devlin DeFrancesco, ahead of Callum Ilott (Juncos Racing) and Conor Daly (ECR).

Like his McLaren team-mate O’Ward, Felix Rosenqvist was unable to advance and will start 21st – where he finished in last year’s drivers’ championship after a difficult first year with the team.

Sato was 22nd in his first qualifying session with Dale Coyne Racing ahead of RLLR’s other new recruit Jack Harvey and Sato’s rookie team-mate David Malukas.

The back row of the grid will be compromised of ex-Super Formula and Formula 2 driver Tatiana Calderon and Ganassi’s Jimmie Johnson.

  2. A sensational beginning
  3. A sensational discovery: insulin is not only a remedy, but also a poison. 1957

“Corpse Identified” read the headline on the second page of the Parisian newspaper L’Intransigen of November 22, 1889. Two illustrations were also published there. The first of them depicts the head of a corpse decomposed beyond recognition, the second shows the face of the same person, photographed during his lifetime. (p.120)

This was the face of a simple Parisian bailiff named Goufet, who had an office on the rue Montmartre and deftly combined his commercial affairs with numerous love affairs. However, on November 22, the day when L’Intransigian solemnly proclaimed: “The corpse has been identified,” this little-known man became so popular in a few weeks that his name eclipsed for some time even the triumphant success of the Paris World Exhibition. To become so popular, it was enough for him to suddenly disappear on the evening of July 26th. This was followed by revelations of his downright unparalleled zeal in the beds of the ladies from the Champs Elysees. The rest was completed by the unsuccessful efforts of chief Syurte Goron to find the missing person and the flow of rumors. Finally, the search for Gufe took a slightly different turn when a corpse decomposed beyond recognition was found in La Tour de Millery near Lyon, and the question arose whether it was Gufe who was missing? On November 22, the newspaper “L’Intransijan” gave the answer: “This is Gufe!” (p. 120)

Not only L’Intransigen, but also all other Parisian newspapers reported on the amazing, almost mystical way, with the help of which hitherto little known to the general public, a pathologist, professor of forensic medicine at the University of Lyon, Alexandre Lacassagne, managed to uncover the secret of the origin of the miserable remains of decomposed corpse from Millery. “Petit-Journal” published the smallest details of the examination of the corpse. The event was given a great political sound. Martin Dufus ended his article with these words: “The French nation gave the world Alphonse Bertillon, the pioneer of forensic science. The disclosure of Millery’s secret indicates that French medicine is able to pave new paths for forensics. The successful identification of the Millery corpse is a historic milestone.” (p.121)

The English pathologist Pepper later expressed doubts about whether the events connected with the corpse from Millery really had such a great significance. As far as the development of a special field of medicine called “forensic medicine” was concerned, he was undoubtedly right. But if we keep in mind the atmosphere of the penetration of a relatively young forensic medicine into the minds of the public and into the world of forensic science, then one cannot dispute the truth contained in the words of Dufus. In the early years of the development of forensic science, there were no cases that so clearly demonstrated the importance of medicine for forensic science to the French and European public, as was the case in the Gufe case. (p.121)

On the evening of July 27, 1889, when a relative of Goofé, a certain Landry, informed the police station of the Bonne-Nouville district about the disappearance of the bailiff, Commissioner Brisant, who was then on duty, did not attach much importance to this event. Landry reported that Gufe, a 49-year-old widower, lives with his daughters and has at least 20 mistresses, and that he must have “launched another love affair. ” Only on July 30, when Gufe still did not appear, the case fell into the hands of Goron and investigator Dopfer. Goron visited Gufe’s office. On the floor in front of the safe, he found 18 burnt matches. The concierge said that on the evening of the day Gufe disappeared, a man opened the bureau with a key, stayed there for a while, and then walked past her again. At first she mistook the man for Gufe, and only when he left did she notice that this was a stranger. The Goron deduced that this man had taken possession of Gufe’s keys and was trying to break into the safe. He ordered to inspect the area of Hausmann Boulevard and the famous cafe “Angle”. But, despite the fact that Goron’s employees talked to hundreds of girls, no trace of the disappeared could be found. Gufe’s financial affairs were in order. Escape from any prosecution was out of the question. Considering Gufe’s love of life, suicide could not be assumed. Descriptions of Gufe’s appearance were sent to all police stations in France. It indicated: slender, height 175, dressed elegantly, lush chestnut-colored stripes and a square beard. In addition, the Goron instructed the secretaries to look through all the newspapers for reports of the discovery of unidentified corpses. (p.121)

Until August 16 Surte made no progress. Gufe seemed to crawl through the ground. The Goron had already begun to fear for his legendary glory. But then, in the early morning of August 17, on his desk, he found one issue each of Cotidien-Provencal and Lantern. In both newspapers, one article was flagged. It reported that the inhabitants of a village near Lyon on the banks of the Rhone found a bag with the corpse of a man. The still unidentified corpse was sent to the Lyon morgue. The Goron hurried investigator Dopfer to immediately send a request to Lyon by telegraph. Dopfer hesitated. It seemed to him that they had already checked a lot of false information. But finally he agreed. In the reply of the magistrate Bastide of Lyon one could feel the obvious protest of the provincial against the interference from Paris. He wrote that the Lyon police themselves had almost solved this case, and that in no case could we talk about Guf. The signs of the appearance of the corpse absolutely do not match the description of the wanted person. (p.121-122)

Dopfer considered the matter settled. Goron – no. He telegraphed to the editor of the Lantern newspaper and asked the local correspondent to send him a detailed description of the incident. On August 20, Goron received a message about what had happened. In early August, the inhabitants of Millery drew attention to the disgusting smell emanating from the blackberry bushes on the banks of the Rhone. Finally, on August 13, the janitor Gofi found a jute sack in the bushes. When he cut the sack with a knife, a half-decomposed black-haired head of a man appeared from it. Frightened, Gofi rushed at full speed into the gendarmerie. A few hours later, an employee of the Berard prosecutor’s office and a doctor, Paul Bernard, arrived from Lyon. Bernard was one of those physicians who, for some time now, were required by law to act as forensic physicians whenever judges or prosecutors needed them. Since it was already dark, and the light of the torches was insufficient for inspection on the spot, the body bag was taken to Lyon. On August 14, Dr. Bernard performed an autopsy. From his report it appeared that the naked corpse had been stuffed head first into the sack. The body was wrapped in oilcloth and tied with a cord seven and a half meters long. The man was between thirty-five and forty-five years old, 170 cm tall. His hair and beard are black. The larynx had two fractures, so Bernard concluded that the unknown person had been strangled. (p.122)

Dr. Bernard had finished his examination when another disturbing news arrived in Lyon from Saint-Genis-Laval, a village near Millery. (page 122)

A peasant collecting snails found some suspicious pieces of planks on the banks of the Rhone. Gendarme Thomas, who visited the site of the discovery of the boards, came to the conclusion that these were parts of a suitcase, and that they emitted a “typical cadaverous smell. ” He connected this find with a find near Millery and sent everything to Lyon. There, on the lid of the suitcase, two labels of the French railway were found. It was written on them: “Departure station: Paris 1231-Paris 27.7.188. Express 3. Destination station: Lyon-Perrache 1. (p.122)

The last digit for the year, 188, was hard to read. But the commissioner of the criminal police of Lyon, Remondancy, came to the conclusion that it was the number 8 and that the suitcase had therefore been sent more than a year ago. The fact that the suitcase was related to the corpse was revealed on August 16, when the janitor Gofi found the key to the suitcase at the place where the body bag lay. (p.122-123)

All this was contained in the message of the Lyon correspondent.

Goron intuitively felt that he had attacked Gufe’s trail. He knew the forensic doctors of those days and did not have much confidence in Dr. Bernard. On the same evening, he wrested permission from the reluctant investigator Dopfer to send Gufe’s relative, Mr. Landry, to Lyon, together with Syurte’s employee. Landry had to determine if it was Goofe. On August 21, Brigadier Sude and Landry set off south. Sude, like Dopfer, was convinced of the futility of the trip. The reception given to him by the interrogator Bastide confirmed him even more in this opinion. It was only for the sake of formality that he insisted on examining the corpse. It was late evening. The mortuary was on an old barge that was anchored in front of the Dieu de Souflo Hotel. In the summer it spread a terrible stench, but in the winter it was so cold on it that the doctors who opened the corpses fell out of their hands tools. (p.123)

The watchman, father Deulenu, whose beard and hair hung down to his waist, a dirty creature smoking a pipe, led Sude and Landry along a wooden platform to the barge. There were corpses on the floor in the hold. Papa Dölenu illuminated the corpse from Millery with his flashlight. Landry, holding his nose with a handkerchief and casting a cursory glance at the remains of a man changed beyond recognition, shook his head negatively and rushed to the exit in horror. Sude made sure that the hair was of an unknown black color, black, and not chestnut, like Gufe’s. The next morning he telegraphed the Goron that the trip had ended without success. Moreover, the brigadier learned that a Lyon cab driver had made an unexpected report, and that the investigator Vial had just interrogated him. The driver, named Laforge, testified that on July 6 he was waiting at the station for a passenger. A man approached him and ordered to load a large, heavy suitcase. In addition to him, two more men sat down and ordered them to be taken in the direction of Millery. There they unloaded the suitcase and asked La Forge to wait for them. After a while they returned without a suitcase and again went to Lyon. La Forge identified the suitcase from the parts found. When he was shown an album with photographs of Lyon criminals, he recognized three of his passengers from them. These were photographs of Shaten, Revol and Bouvane. From 9July they were under arrest for robbery. (page 123)

Vial, who took over Milleri’s case for investigation, authorized Sude to convey to his boss that Lyon would do without his intervention. The case has already been closed. The corpse will be buried tomorrow at the Cemetery de la Gietière. Unable to intervene once again in the investigation of the Lyon case, Goron forced the investigation in the capital. In September, he received a report from his agent, which stated: “On July 25, Gufe was seen in the company of a certain Michel Ayrault, posing as a businessman. Eiro was accompanied by his mistress, the young Gabrielle Bompard. Eiro and Gabriella disappeared from Paris without a trace on July 27, from the very day that the report of the disappearance of Gufe was received. Throughout October, Goron led an unsuccessful search for both. (p.123-124)

In the meantime, articles about the Guf case began to appear more and more often in Parisian newspapers, and criticism in them took on an increasingly sharp character. Accustomed to success, Goron was beside himself. But before capitulating, to the indescribable surprise of his employees, in early November, he again returned to the version that the unknown from Millery was none other than Gufe. Investigator Dopfer refused to support him. But Goron insisted so stubbornly that he agreed to find out how the Millery case ended in Lyon. From Vial’s report, it became known that the three arrested for robbery categorically denied that they had anything to do with the suitcase and the corpse from Millery. The driver, meanwhile, gave new testimony: that he allegedly was an eyewitness, as a suitcase with a corpse was thrown into the bushes. On this basis, he was arrested and detained as an accomplice. Vial believed that over time, the arrested would tell everything and name the victim. But in general, Vial wrote in conclusion, he would have nothing against help from Paris. He attached the labels from the suitcase to his message. (p.124)

When Dopfer gave all this to Goron, he, studying the labels, immediately drew attention to the date July 27, , the day when the statement about the disappearance of Gufe was received, and hurried to the Lyon Station. The luggage office clerk looked through the registration book and found that on July 27, 1888, baggage number 1231 was not handed over. Burning with impatience, Goron demanded that they check the luggage number in the registration book for 1889. This book was very large, because due to the World Exhibition, the transportation of goods has increased tremendously. Finally, the receipt was found. It read: “July 27, 1889, train 3, departure 11.45 am, No. 1231. Destination station: Lyon – Perrache. One piece, weight 105 kg. (page 124)

Goron hastened to Dopfer. Need any more explanation? The suitcase with the corpse was sent from Paris on July 27, 1889, the day Gufe disappeared. If Landry had not even recognized his relative in the stranger from Millery a hundred times, and the forensic doctor from Lyon had asserted a thousand times that the murdered man could not be Guf, he, Goron, would be ready to give his head for cutting off, that it was only about Guf and not about someone else. (p.124)

The investigator met this statement with skepticism, but an unexpected development of events made him nevertheless agree to a trip to Lyon personally by Goron, who arrived there on November 11, accompanied by Inspector Syurte. Goron attacked the investigator Vial. Why, he was indignant, did Vial keep the cabman La Forge in custody for many months, if the suitcase in which he transported the corpse on July 6 was sent from Paris only on July 27, 1889? How could La Forge have already delivered this suitcase on July 6th? He was a liar, one of those braggarts that are often encountered in the investigation of criminal cases. (p.124)

Brought from prison, Laforge admitted that he made up his testimony. Because of some misconduct, he was afraid to lose his license and believed that with his story he would win over the Lyon police. The indignant Goron demanded that the corpse be immediately exhumed and re-examined. He, Goron, will prove to everyone that Gufe is buried in Lyon. (page 125)

Vial opposed the exhumation, citing a variety of arguments. Prosecutor Berard also tried to object, but they could not do anything. November 12, 1889The public prosecutor was forced to order the exhumation of the corpse, which was entrusted to the forty-six-year-old professor Alexandre Lacassagne, head of the newly organized department of forensic medicine at the University of Lyon. Chapter 606 Sensational Beginning

Translator: Nyoi-Bo Studio Editor: Nyoi-Bo Studio

Hearing what the Magic Hand said, Li Du looked surprised and couldn’t help but ask a second time, “Sorry friend, I think I misheard?”

“You heard right,” said the Magic Hand. “I just said that compared to those guys behind me, I’d rather be friends with you. Honestly, the help that you can give me is ten times more than the help of those guys who are behind me.

These words were too frank. So frankly, Li Du felt that the magic hand was not an adult. What adult makes such friends?

Hans stood to one side and rubbed his nose non-stop. It was obvious that he, too, was bewildered by the magic hand.

Magic hand continued to say, “I read your information. Lee, you are a brilliant person. Compared to all the treasure hunters I’ve seen, you are much more brilliant.”

“You are too kind,” Li Du said with a dazzling laugh.

Magic hand waved his hands. No, I’m just telling the truth. Do you know how I became a millionaire?

-Yes, you’re already a multimillionaire, right? Not only are you adept at finding treasures in vaults, you are also adept at investing in property,” praised Hans.

The magic hand smiled broadly. -Yes it’s true. I am who I am today for two reasons.

He raised his index finger. “First, don’t go against people who are brilliant and kind.”

Then he raised his thumb. “Secondly, before making a judgment, carefully analyze the situation. Invest in stocks with potential and stay away from junk stocks.

– I understand these two jerks, Frank and York, very well, and I know who they are. I also investigated the conflict between you guys.

-If I were you, I wouldn’t succumb to those two fools either, and just like you, I would ruthlessly ruin them. So I think it’s very stupid of these idiots from California to hate you for it.

– In addition, you are very talented and full of potential. I believe that if we became friends, we would become close friends and help each other, right?”

After listening to the endless stream of magic hand words, Li Du realized that he needed to answer and nodded his head. “Yes, since we are both smart people, it will be easier for us to get along well.”

The magic hand extended its hand to him again. -Are you all right? My friend.”

Li Du shook hands with him. “I’m fine, old chap.”

This is how Li Du felt that he had mysteriously found a new friend.

It goes without saying that this friendship was not at all the same as with Ollie and Tina—it was one that he had to take precautions against. However, having one more friend was better than having one more enemy.

After they both let go of their hands, the Magic Hand patted his shoulder and walked towards the back of the house.

Some Californian treasure hunters anxiously asked, “Hey man, aren’t you going to punish him?”

The magic hand smiled broadly. Why should I punish him? He’s my friend.”

All the nearby California treasure hunters were stunned. Some of them wanted to say something, but when they opened their mouths, they realized that they could not find the right words, and only froze in place in confusion.

“Listen carefully, everyone,” continued the Magic Hand, “if someone mocks you or humiliates us Californians, I will not let him go. However, if one of the Californians bully other people and then bully, do not even think about asking me to help get revenge.

After finishing his speech, he turned to the people around him who were watching him jokingly: “Besides, I am not a knife and will not be used by other people.

Quite a few Californian treasure hunters have darkened their mood with this. Like they were at a funeral.

Quite a few Arizona treasure hunters were also suppressed.

They hesitated to approach Li Du mainly because of the hostility between him and the Californians. Since the Californian treasure hunters came along with the magic hand, they thought it was to punish Li Du.

California was one of the richest states in America and had many brilliant treasure hunters. It was nothing like Arizona, a poor state that didn’t even have a multimillionaire.

In their eyes, such a multimillionaire as a magic hand was already considered a legend. Since most of them weren’t even millionaires, they didn’t dare to provoke people like him.

After all, Magic Hand not only didn’t become Li Du’s opponent, but he was friend with him now instead?

Everyone was dumbfounded!

The main entrance to the warehouse company opened at twenty minutes to nine. Two teams of more than 50 security personnel appeared at the back of the building, maintaining order and letting everyone inside.

At nine o’clock two police cars arrived. Since there were clearly too many people at today’s auction, it was dangerous to public safety and the police station was under an obligation to send police officers.

Everyone lined up as soon as they entered. Once inside, they had to show their individual auction pass they had received earlier before receiving a thick ream of colored printed paper.

Don’t lose them guys. They are irreplaceable,” the round-faced youth repeatedly warned. Li Du saw him yesterday. He was the person in charge of security who had a dimple in his lip.

Li Du looked at the colored slips of paper, each with a storage device number written on it. These were photos of warehouse doors. There were five photos of each memory block from the front, looking at it, looking down at it, from the left corner and from the right.

Holding the photographs, the Magic Hand came up and asked: “Are there any discoveries?”

Li Du answered honestly, “I haven’t seen anything yet. However, I dare say that it is too difficult to make out the content by looking at the photographs. We have to see who God blesses today.”

The magic hand laughed. The Lord will bless good people. Do you want to have dinner together tonight?”

Although the treasure hunters didn’t have to queue to look at the storage blocks, with 145 storage blocks up for auction, it will be night by the time they finish looking at them all.

Li Du enthusiastically said, “Good.”

After a simple greeting, the two sides split up.

The feeling that the Magic Hand gave Li Du was quite good. At least he was a reasonable person and demanded little from the people he came into contact with. He only required them to be reasonable and polite.

Troublemakers such as Andrew, a pair of father and Son’s dog ears and Ball were those who were extremely unintelligent.

When the door to the first vault opened, people crowded around it.

On paper, this type of auction didn’t require people to queue up to look around. However, that didn’t mean that some people wouldn’t get a chance to look around—it just had to fight for that chance.

The doors of the warehouses will remain open and anyone can come and have a look. However, they could only get a glimpse of him. Security was supposed to maintain order and give everyone who was interested in the vault a chance to look at it.

The auctioneer was sitting on a wooden stand that was placed in the warehouse door. Holding a small horn in his hands, he shouted: “All interested persons, go and see, and then come to where I have to place a bet. Trading has already begun. You guys know the rules, but I can repeat them again. . .

“Today’s auction is a cash auction. Yes, cash auction. The amount you guys can offer is how much money you have. We do not accept wire transfers, we do not accept checks, we do not accept card payments. Only cash. . . ”

The auctioneer highlighted the set of rules before shouting out bids: “Each item starts at $100. You guys don’t have to look at me and you can start trading as soon as you are interested!

Li Du followed the crowd to the warehouse door to look at it. Of course, he was only doing this for show—he had already grabbed the contents of the memory block.

Stepping out of the crowd, he quickly checked his cell phone.

After checking the contents of the vault, he winked at the treasure hunters who were following him before releasing a small bug to search vault number 101.

Lavrov Cup. Cheerful start under the supervision of Petkovic: penalty shootout, sensation and more – Handball. Quick Center – Blogs

The traditional memorial of Viktor Georgievich Lavrov started in Stavropol. The first game day, to which the review of the BC is dedicated, did not become a warm-up, being remembered for three peppy matches.

This year the pre-season tournament in memory of the outstanding coach received an international status: the Belarusian SKA joined the top five Superleague clubs, the Volgograd players and the host youth who flew out of it.

At the preliminary stage, the teams were divided into two fours. Group “A” consisted of “Chekhov Bears”, CSKA, SKIF and “Kaustik”, quartet “B” – “Victor”, Stavropol double, SGAU-“Saratov” and Minskers.

Based on the results of three rounds, the teams that took the first places in the groups will fight for gold, the second ones will play bronze, and so on.

Recall that a year ago, the Lavrov Memorial was won by Dynamo Astrakhan, second place was taken by Saratov (who won in 2020), and Akbuzat was third. The hosts were only sixth.

But these are things of the past, and now new pages of history are being written at Vostok Arena. There were few fans in the stands on the opening day. This was not surprising: few people can go to handball at the height of the working day, and bright signs and main matches are scheduled for the weekend.

However, the teams were not left without spectators: there were both local audience and fans from other cities. The players of other clubs watched the game of rivals, and also the head coach of the Russian national team Velimir Petkovich.

Velimir Petkovic about the Lavrov Cup: “The level is good. I liked Caustic. SKIF has a good game and coaching work”

Men. Lavrov Cup. Preliminary stage. Group “A”

11.08. Chekhov Bears – Kaustik (Volgograd) – 33:29 (16:14)

Judges: Ershov, Pavlyukov.

Chekhov bears: Pavlenko, Grushko, Martynenko; Morozov (2), Santalov (3), Emelianenko (2), K. Kotov (6), Medvedkov (2), A. Kotov (1), Ostaschenko, Kornev (2), Dzemin (1), Furtsev (5) , Demin (3), Kandybin, Ermakov, Fist (3), Kamenev (3).

Caustic: Mikhailov, Chernomashentsev; Veneichuk, Galkin (3), Kosogov (1), Larin (3), Palaschenko (1), Tokmakov (2), Glushchenko (2), Ivanov (5), Levitsky (4), Tataurov (2), Koltsov (5) ), Terikhov, Kremnev (1), Prikazchikov.

In the history of relations between Volgograd and Chekhov, even in the years when the southerners were fighting for survival, there were many hot episodes. And now, for most of the game, “Caustic” actively attacked the gates of the “bears”. More importantly, success.

Of course, one can single out Danila Ivanov, Daniil Koltsov and others. But their enthusiasm was not enough to make the opponents seriously nervous. Vladimir Maksimov’s sponsors defended calmly, albeit not without mistakes, but attacked with noticeable laziness.

And you can’t argue with Velimir Petkovic, who praised “Caustic”. Yes, the team showed good handball, fought almost on an equal footing with the Chekhov team. However, there was no feeling that a newcomer to the major leagues could turn the tide. Not only the audience.

Velimir Petkovic and Sergei Gorbok at the Lavrov Memorial

Lavrov Cup. Danila Ivanov: “It was evident that the Chekhov team did not operate at full strength. But it’s still nice to play with them”

And so it happened. The Volzhans held out almost to the end, and then the Chekhov Bears, without even turning on the last gear, decided the outcome of the match in a few minutes: times go by, but globally nothing changes.

On the other hand, the match looked as good as any regular season game. Even better than some, perhaps.

11.08. CSKA (Moscow) – SKIF (Krasnodar) – 26:27 (13:11)

Judges: Ershov, Pavlyukov.

CSKA: Wang Quan, Tretynko, Kuznetsov; Salimov, Kopylov, Xie Qinglong, Fokin (2), Nikolaenkov (3), Krivich, Huang Peijie, Belevtsov (2), Tokarev (1), Vorobyov (2), Shishkarev (7), Ivanov, Ionov (2), Zhila (3), Korkin (1), Rud (3).

SKIF: Kondratenko, Krikunov; Mikhailichenko, Archibasov (2), Shalabanov, Bidanok, Zimin, Dashko (7), Baukin (3), Vorobyov, Krechetov, Ivannikov (1), Volkov, Samoilenko, Maslennikov (8), Chan Xuan Viet (3), Koryakin, Dolinin (3).

Tournament position (after the first round). 1. Chekhov Bears – 2 points. 2. SKIF – 2. 3. CSKA – 0. 4. Kaustik – 0.

The main impression left from the game of Oleg Khodkov’s team at the start of the Lavrov Cup is a kind of chaos. Yes, the roster rotation was active, and yet… In the off-season, perhaps, you shouldn’t expect anything else, but the Krasnodar team looked more harmonious.

Although the summer changes in the composition of CSKA, probably more serious than the “Scythians”. It is clear that Daniil Shishkarev will not spoil the weather in any team, and with other newcomers, not everything is so obvious. Will they add power to the vice-champions?

Daniil Shishkarev scored 7 times on the first game day

Krasnodar has a good reinforcement, Ruslan Dashko and Timofey Maslennikov. And with the young “oldies” there, and so everything was in order. So the metropolitan team was able to catch up and overtake the opponent only by the break.

Lavrov Cup. Ruslan Dashko: “The task for the tournament? We were told – we need to win”

The meeting in the intensity of passions was not inferior to the playoffs of the Superleague, with quite a lot of struggle and removals. They sinned both those and others. There were shorthanded goals, empty nets and beautiful shots. And also – 5 goals of Shishkarev from the penalty spot from five attempts (he scored seven in total).

In the second half, the teams continued in the same vein, but the tenth team of the last season ended with a minimal margin. Perhaps, their own fans, who came to Stavropol for SKIF, also helped.

And the brightest moment of the game, despite all the intrigue, was… CSKA point guard Valentin Vorobyov’s shoes. On the lilac spot, rushing around the site, the eye was involuntarily distracted during the broadcast. It was much more noticeable than the ball.

Valentin Vorobyov and his famous sneakers

Men. Lavrov Cup. Preliminary stage. Group “B”

11.08. Victor (Stavropol) – Victor-2 (Stavropol) – 41:24 (18:14)

Judges: Semenenko, Strelenny.

Victor: Zabolotsky, Lysenko; Bolotin (1), Mazurov (3), Reznik (4), Nekrasov (4), Iltinsky (2), Belyaev (2), Kharitonov (3), Maksimov (4), Grebyonkin (6), Sokol, Pasyonov (3 ), Karibov, Aflitulin (1), Larin (2), Grotsky, Lukinov, Kochura (3), Vrachevich (3).

Victor-2: Tereshchenko, Avramenko; Shevchenko (3), Gabarev (1), Bessarabenko, Popov, Grammatikopulo (2), Cherkasov (2), Verevkin, Shitik, Shalko (1), Arustamov (2), Zhukov (3), Streltsov, Afanasov (1), Dzhurtubaev (4), Kochin (2), Gorlov (3).

If we compared the first game of the day with an ordinary Superleague match, and the second with a play-off meeting, then the third one looked typical for sparring between two squads of the same club. However, that’s how it was.

The youth of the hosts kept pretty well for almost a half, and after that they mostly watched how the main players updated their own statistics. But not to say that the players of the Stavropol double were serving a number, and the coach urged them on persistently.

Lavrov Cup. Ivan Shevchenko: “Viktor-2 has no goals for this tournament. We’re gaining experience against the backdrop of the Superleague teams”

There were more spectators in the hall by the beginning of the host’s sparring, but they didn’t really show themselves. Either they could not find at least some interest in what was happening, or they were thinking: whom exactly to support?

It was easier for those who watched the broadcast. By the way, for pre-season tournaments, live broadcast is atypical, so it’s worth praising Viktor for a good deed. And the commentator – for entertaining the audience all day.

11.08. SKA (Minsk, Belarus) – SGAU-Saratov – 33:35 (17:14, 31:31, penalties – 2:4)

Referees: Semenenko, Strelenny.

SKA: Kolos, Stasyuk; Ladutko (2), Girik (1), Tsarev (1), Baranchik (1), Shabelnikov (3), Gaiduk, Kamyshik, Shepelenko (3), Bely, Chizhik (4), Astapov, Ermakov (6), Nemkov ( 11), Sadovsky (1). SGAU-Saratov: Sergeev, Nikabadze; Razmaev (6), Filippov (1), Ponomarev (15), Filimonenko (1), Musaev (1), Glebov, Nanov (3), Elistratov (2), Ovchinnikov, Molev, Ryzhkov (1), Trofimets (3) , Gudkov, Sazonov (2).

Tournament position (after the first round). 1. Victor – 2 points. 2. SGAU-Saratov – 2. 3. SKA – 0. Victor-2 – 0.

Well, the final match of the day became its decoration. Minskers from SKA and Saratov gave out an intrigue with unexpected turns and a denouement in a penalty shootout. Guests from Belarus adequately coped with personnel problems, but lost.

The team of Igor Papruga arrived in Russia with a truncated squad, nine players are now at the disposal of the national team. The problems continued a few minutes after the starting whistle: Julian Girik was injured and dropped out of the game.

Despite this, the Saratov team could not do anything with the opponents who played for themselves and that guy. SKA quickly flew into the gap and calmly held the advantage until the break.

“Students” woke up in the second half, and the strength of the Minskers seemed to be running out. But it only seemed: despite the zeal of Artyom Ponomarev, who threw himself and made friends, the playing time ended with a score of 31:31.

The tournament regulations provide for such cases a series of seven-meter shots, in which the Saratov team realized four throws, and the Belarusian team only two. Nevertheless, Minsk residents can only say one thing – bravo!

Lavrov Cup. Andrey Trofimets: “Young Belarusians ruffled our nerves, well done. The guys are running, impudent, climb well, fight to the end”

Bloody sensation: Medvedev lost the final to world No. 205

Sport

Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev in the final of the ATP-250 tournament, which takes place in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, lost to the representative of the Netherlands, Tim van Reithoven. The meeting, which lasted a little over an hour, ended in two sets with a score of 6:4, 6:1 in favor of the Dutchman. Gazeta.Ru conducted a text online broadcast of the match.

17:00

On this “Gazeta.Ru” completes the text online broadcast of the fight.
See you soon!

16:55

Well, it is worth recalling that in the course of the third game of the first set, Medvedev was forced to take a medical time-out, because his nose bled. Maybe the state of health also affected the similar result of the match. However, let us remind you once again that even a loss will not prevent Daniil from becoming the first racket of the world tomorrow. In the ATP rankings, he will overtake Novak Djokovic.

16:50

In this case, Medvedev would like to wish good health and a speedy recovery after the operation. And now about the statistics. The match lasted 1 hour and 5 minutes, ended in two sets with a score of 6:4, 6:1 in favor of van Reithoven. Medvedev fired five times, made three double faults and converted one break point out of two. Van Reithoven has five aces, one double fault and four break points out of ten.

16:45

It was definitely hard to imagine that a Dutch tennis player, very little known, would play the tournament so brilliantly, and in the final in two sets in just over an hour, defeat the tennis player who should lead the ranking of the best. But this also happens in sports, so we state that the representative of the Netherlands, Tim van Reithoven, beats Daniil Medvedev in the final of the home tournament!

16:44

Everyone! Van Reithoven takes the game to zero, winning the set, match and final. Quite unexpected, I have to admit.

16:43

40:0. From the forehand, Tim breaks through the line.

16:42

30:0. Now Medvedev is out of bounds, taking a viewing, but the video confirms everything.

16:41

15:0. Tim gets in the back, even the challenge was taken to determine.

16:40

Wow, well, Daniel takes this game on his serve. But the score in the second set 5:1 is not in his favor, and van Reithoven goes to serve for the match.

16:40

More. The Dutchman is wrong about the length.

16:39

Smooth. Tim’s good play at the net leads to Daniel’s mistake.

16:39

More. Disrupts reception van Reithoven.

16:39

Smooth. Ace.

16:38

Less. Daniil makes a mistake and hits the net.

16:38

40:40. Medvedev is losing the advantage from 40:0, and now Tim has every chance to finish the match right now.

16:37

40:30. Great welcome.

04:37 PM

40:15. Quite an unsuccessful blow from Medvedev.

16:37

40:0. Excellent presentation.

16:36

30:0. Daniil’s excellent entry to the grid.

16:36

15:0. Doesn’t hit Tim’s court after a draw.

16:34

Van Reithoven takes the fifth game. It is pointless to say something now, the chances are very unlikely that Medvedev will be able to save this finale by some miracle. However, ahead of his submission.

16:34

40:30. And another great serve, the reception should be in the net.

16:33

30:30. Excellent serve, Medvedev can’t cope with the reception.

16:33

15:30. Tim copes with the second serve, punching powerfully.

16:32

0:30. Double fault from Tim.

16:32

0:15. A good attack from Daniel passes.

16:31

Tim takes the fourth game, making a second break. To be honest, it’s hard to say something, because Daniil’s acting is not going well right now. Perhaps some health problems are tormenting? He took a medical time-out.

16:30

15:40. Yes, what’s going on? Tim has two break points.

16:30

15:30. A completely unsuccessful shot, the ball hits the net, and after that it flies out of bounds.

16:29

15:15. However, Medvedev immediately makes mistakes himself.

16:29

15:0. Length error from Tim.

16:27

The third game also belongs to van Reithoven, and he takes it quite calmly, at zero. 3:0. It doesn’t work out for Daniel at all.

16:27

40:0. And another very bad move.

16:26

30:0. Medvedev can’t cope with the reception.

16:26

15:0. Good presentation Tim.

16:25

Medvedev can’t cope with van Reithoven’s attack, hits the net. Makes Tim a break, repeating the beginning of the first set. 2:0 in the second set.

16:24

30:40. Again, we have a long draw, in which Medvedev is mistaken. By lenght.

16:24

30:30. yes what is it? During a long draw, Medvedev makes a mistake and hits the net.

16:23

30:15. Tim can’t handle the reception.

16:23

15:15. Medvedev corrects with a pitch.

16:22

0:15. Unforced error from Dani.

16:21

Medvedev takes out a shortened one, but beats out with a dribble. 1-0, van Reithoven takes his serve.

16:21

40:0. Another great presentation.

04:21 PM

30:0. Daniil makes a mistake and gets angry – he hits the court with a racket. Maybe even this anger will help?

16:20

15:0. Excellent presentation.

16:20

The second half starts with a cross from van Reithoven.

16:17

Van Reithoven breaks and wins the first set 6-4. It is unexpected, to be honest, to see such a development of events, somehow Medvedev’s game is not particularly glued yet.

16:17

15:40. Pulls Tim Medvedev to the net and breaks through with a dribble.

16:16

15:30. Medvedev does not reach the ball.

16:16

15:15. Submission helps.

16:15

0:15. Tim has a great game on someone else’s serve.

16:13

A tennis player from the Netherlands quickly takes his serve to zero. 5:4 score in the first set.

16:13

40:0. Great game at the net from Tim.

16:12

30:0. With a long draw in length, Daniil is mistaken.

16:12

15:0. Great presentation.

16:11

Now this is more like Daniil, he confidently takes his serve, making the score 4:4 in the first set.

16:11

40:15. Daniil makes a mistake, sending the ball out of bounds.

16:11

40:0. Reception problems again.

16:10

30:0. The Dutchman risks and sends the ball into a fairly large out.

16:10

15:0. Tim can’t cope at the reception.

16:08

Van Reithoven completes the game with a great serve. The score becomes 4:3 in the first set.

16:08

40:15. Danya tries to get a short one, but hits the net.

16:07

30:15. Daniil did not even flinch after this ball, realizing that he would not be in time.

16:07

15:15. Tim plays great at the net.

16:06

0:15. Van Reithoven gets out in length.

16:05

Medvedev saves his serve from 0:40, the score in the match becomes 3:3. But for now, I’m somehow a little worried about the Russian tennis player.

16:05

More. Submission helps.

16:05

40:40. It falls along the Medvedev line, but for this you have to take the challenge.

16:04

30:40. Ace.

16:04

15:40. And now an unforced error from Tim.

04:03 PM

0:40. Double fault from Daniel.

16:03

0:30. The Dutchman hits the line with an incredible blow.

16:02

0:15. Van Reithoven went on the attack and made the opponent make a mistake, Medvedev smeared the shot into the net.

16:00

Perfectly Tim spreads the opponent and the ball, winning the game on his serve. 3:2, and it is obvious that the match will not be an easy walk for the future first racket of the world.

16:00

40:15. Medvedev plays splendidly at the reception.

15:59

40:0. An error during a protracted draw – Danya smears into the net.

15:58

30:0. The Dutchman plays excellently on his serve, Medvedev does not have time to catch the ball.

15:58

15:0. The second serve is not accepted.

15:57

Danya wins the game on his serve, though not easily. The score becomes equal – 2:2.

15:57

40:30. He smartly pulled out a complex shortened Daniel and hit the line.

15:56

30:30. Almost a similar mistake from the Dutchman.

15:56

15:30. And again Daniil makes a mistake on the back line.

15:55

15:15. Immediately, van Reithoven makes a mistake at the reception.

15:55

0:15. Medvedev misses out with a second blow.

15:53

But then, when trying to get involved in the fight, the Dutchman makes a mistake and misses the net. Reverse break makes Medvedev. 2:1.

15:53

15:40. Good presentation.

15:52

But everything seems to be in order, Danya can continue the match. Meanwhile, he has three break points.

15:51

Continue to help Daniel.

15:47

Only this was not enough. Medvedev was forced to take a medical time-out because his nose bled.

15:46

0:40. Tim shoots into the net from the back line. Dani has a chance to make a reverse break.

15:46

0:30. Medvedev is doing well at the reception, Tim breaks the right hand.

15:45

One of the most important events that shape the mood of Orlovites in 2022 was the special operation in Ukraine. Scientists from the Central Russian Institute of Management, a branch of the RANEPA, found out what residents of the Oryol region think about the special operation, the socio-political situation in the region and the country, as well as their attitude towards sanctions. The study is conducted from February 24 to the present day.

“It’s a pity that a happy future is only a grin of past insolence about the present”

Socio-political situation is a kind of indicator that allows you to quite clearly see the true nature of the processes taking place in the region, state and society. So, with the start of the special operation, 36.5% of Oryol residents believed that the situation was deteriorating, and only 27.9% believed in improvement. To date, the numbers have changed: 24. 2% orlovtsev confident in the deterioration, and 40.2% believe that everything is getting better.

– Most of all, people love the state of stability, and they perceive any exit from this comfort zone negatively. So in this situation, everyone figured out how it would affect him personally, and thought: oh you, now there will be refugees, they will affect my well-being … And they got worried. But after some time, we realized that our fears are premature, nothing threatens security. Hence the dynamics of the opinion about the improvement of the situation – said the author of the study, Professor of the Department of Sociology Anna Alekseyonok.

When you tell a person lies, you lose confidence. To tell the truth, you lose a person

Since February of this year, people’s thirst for information has grown exponentially. However, finding the truth has become more difficult. It is important to understand that the world is not black and white, but at least a kaleidoscope of events and assessments.

One way or another, from February to the present day, the level of trust in political institutions has been growing. Even less popular political parties, the police and the federal assembly have gained in informational weight. At the same time, attitudes towards the media have deteriorated.

– Before CBO, when choosing a source of information, almost half of the respondents did not trust anyone – everything was stable and expected for people. There was no urgent need for this information. But as soon as the situation began to demand decisive action, people turned to the authorities. In the army they saw a magic wand that will scatter everyone and everything will be fine. Hence the growth of trust both in the institutions of power and in the army. However, we must admit that we lost the initial period of the information war. The Western media allowed themselves harsh statements, which were often not backed up by anything. They found tar, but the taste remained. Now people who have been deceived don’t want to be judged for them. They want a more neutral position – the truth, – explained the author of the study, professor, director of the Central Russian Institute of Management, a branch of the RANEPA Pavel Merkulov.

“Vladimir Putin is great!”

These are the results of the survey. Now 84.8% of respondents rated the work of the president as “good” against 65.9% in February.

– People directly connect the president and the CBO, the growth of the approval of the CBO leads to an increase in the popularity of the president. Now that the need for a decision on the NMD has become obvious, it has become clear that this prevented hostilities on the territory of our country. Then the rating of Vladimir Putin increased. Because it was he who took responsibility for the whole country,” said Merkulov.

About the attitude towards the fraternal people

The attitude of the Orlovites towards the inhabitants of Ukraine, despite the recent events, remains loyal. However, over time there has been a trend towards less “brotherly” relations. So, by the beginning of the special operation, every third respondent called Ukrainians “brothers-Slavs”, and now only 17.3%. Orlovtsy are inclined to a more neutral assessment: “inhabitants of a neighboring country.”

The number of respondents who believe that the population of Ukraine is hostile to Russia has increased (more than ten times! It was 1.5%, now it is -15.9%). And now there are those who believe that the Ukrainians seek to destroy Russia and the Russian people. (9.3%).

– We were brought up as children of the world, we were not taught to fight, we were taught to create – such is our mentality. There is nothing wrong. Relations, of course, are changing, but I would not say that the changes are drastic. I would say: they become more neutral, – the expert suggested.

“Gloomy forecasts about the prospects for the Russian economy did not come true”

Sanctions are not a new word for us, we have been familiar with them since 2014, since the annexation of Crimea to the Russian Federation. However, this year it became clear: then the sanctions were soft. The Orlovites as a whole believed from the outset that they were ultimately a positive influence. However, the ranking was different. Thus, in March 2022, 54% of the respondents were in favor of the positive effect of the sanctions, and 46% of the respondents were in favor of the negative effect (including price increases). By the summer, the situation had changed dramatically. 68.1% of respondents see a positive effect from sanctions, and 31.9% see a negative effect%.

– We introduced the issue of sanctions only at the 3rd stage of the study. To be honest, we did not expect that there would be so many who believe that sanctions are having a positive effect. This means that more than half of the population believes in the potential that our country has. Despite all the deceit and betrayal of the 90s, no matter what, Anna Alekseyonok said.

Patriotism: emotions or action?

The respondents were asked, among other things, about their moods. So, at the beginning of the special operation, more than half of the Orlovites were anxious in relation to the events taking place. At the same time, every fifth spoke about the patriotic mood. Today the picture has changed. The number of patriotic and anxious people has leveled off – by a third. The rest either calmly perceive reality, or are simply neutral.

– Unfortunately, we have a surge of patriotism when we face difficulties. Then we remember such basic things as respect for the history of Russia, pride in the Motherland and its past, faith, family. People are built into a dialogue with the authorities, and such a dialogue is constructive. Undoubtedly, this is a positive trend, – Anna Alekseyonok is sure.

In the foreseeable future

The authors of the study believe that in the near future the trend in favor of supporting the NWO will continue. Moreover, after the end of the special operation, a higher cohesion of the population of the Russian Federation, the formation of the image of the Motherland, and an increase in the importance of the institution of the family and religion are predicted. The researchers make such a conclusion, including on the basis of proposals that, according to the Orlovites, are now necessary for the citizens of our country.

Here are some of them:

“Trust our Putin”,

“Don’t look at the dollar exchange rate, prices in the store and money in your wallet”,

“Create normal conditions for life”,

“Keep a critical mindset ”,

“To spend more class hours in schools on the topic “Glorious sons of Russia”,

“Show more information about Russia on TV”,

“Stop lying in the media and give the people of Russia real information, whatever it may be “,

“To be Orthodox”,

“Don’t lose heart. Pray»

Quiet sensations in the Hermitage at the exhibition of Florentine sculpture of the XV century › St.

Petersburg News › MR-7.ru

An exhibition of sculptures of the XV century, made by virtuoso Florentine masters, has opened in the Picket Hall of the Winter Palace. Viewers will be able to get acquainted with the work of masters, including Desiderio da Settignano, Antonio Rossellino, Benedetto da Maiano and others. The exposition presents 27 items from the Hermitage collection, including those acquired in 2019year from a private collection.

A separate group of exhibits are terracotta busts, executed under the influence of Andrea Verrocchio (1435 — 1488), one of the most important sculptors of Florence in the second half of the 15th century. The images of Christ created by Verrocchio had a great influence on contemporaries. In the exhibition, in particular, you can see the expressive bust of the Youth of the Saint (early 1470s). This is a sculpture from the collection of Grand Duchess Maria Nikolaevna. It is distinguished by a special subtlety of execution and careful study of details. It is the high quality of the bust that suggests the participation of Verrocchio himself in the work. In addition, art critics say with caution that Leonardo da Vinci himself, one of the students of Verrocchio’s workshop, was also involved in the creation of the image.

Previously, the image of the Young Saint was in the collection of Grand Duchess Maria Nikolaevna and was then attributed to Leonardo da Vinci.

– I studied this bust and decided that it was the workshop of Verrocchio, of very good quality and, possibly, with the participation of Verrocchio himself. Remarkably, the head of the sculpture was made separately from the bust. And if you take the early paintings of Leonardo da Vinci, for example, The Annunciation (one of his earliest paintings, it was made in 1472-1475 and is now in the famous Uffizi Gallery in Florence), you can see the incredible portrait similarity [of the Young Saint and character in this picture. And all this was created at about the same time in Verrocchio’s studio,” noted Sergei Androsov, head of the Hermitage’s Department of Western European Fine Art, at the opening of the exhibition.

Sergey Androsov shows journalists a reproduction of Leonardo da Vinci’s painting “The Annunciation” so that they can be convinced of the incredible portrait similarity between the character of the painting and the sculpture.

Another reason to think that the sculptures by the Verrocchio workshop were created with the participation of Leonardo are traces of the work of a left-handed master on the back side of the Hermitage bust. Leonardo da Vinci was also left-handed. The characteristic features of the artistic interpretation of images and the similarity of faces also make it possible to speak cautiously about the participation of the young Leonardo.
