Ivan Kuznetsov, (St. Petersburg), participant of the Winter School in Computer Science – 2022

a place where you will find a huge number of like-minded people from all over Russia who are interested in what they do, whose eyes are burning.

At the Winter School, they talked about the best practices in the industry at the moment, and then suggested where you can learn it and how to get there, which is sometimes even more important. This combination is priceless, because it gives a full understanding of where it is interesting to move in life and how to get there.

Many thanks to the organizers for this event – everything was very cool. And a special thank you for holding the school in full-time format – this is what we all missed.

Thank you for the excellent organization and the sea of positive emotions!

Arina Pavlova, (Tomsk), participant of the Winter School in Computer Science – 2022

The Winter School is a great opportunity to get to know the Faculty of Computer Science from the inside. All the lectures I listened to were very impressive and added motivation. It was especially pleasant to communicate with the lecturers in a lively conversation.

I was glad to meet the guys, each of whom was interesting in his own way. I hope that we will study together with one of them soon.

And, of course, special thanks to the training center in Voronovo for the warm welcome. Perhaps there could not have been a better place for holding the Winter School. Friendly staff, delicious food and comfortable accommodations.

Artem Sosnin, (Moscow), participant of the Winter School in Computer Science – 2022

The Winter School in Computer Science gave me a complete picture of what I can do in the master’s program at the Faculty of Computer Science and after it. On it, I met guys from various cities of Russia. Together we listened to entertaining lectures, and spent evenings with quizzes from the organizers. I really liked that the territory in the Voronovo training center was clean and the food was delicious. Would definitely not mind coming back here again.

Natalia Shcheglova, (Moscow), participant of the Winter School in Computer Science – 2021

What impressed me most of all at the Winter School of FCS was the number of interesting and informative lectures. Literally every day, experts (HSE lecturers or employees of large companies) spoke to the participants of the school and talked about their work, projects and development prospects in a particular area. In addition, we were told in detail about HSE master’s programs, entrance examinations, and study features. I finally decided on the direction of study and even more firmly established my intention to enter the FCS HSE. I got to meet some great guys. They are all very interesting, ambitious and motivated people. And, of course, I would like to note the work of the organizers of the school: they always answer questions, are friendly and responsive. They definitely created a pleasant, homely atmosphere! Thanks a lot! I liked everything very much!

Ivan Kogut, (Kamensk-Uralsky), participant of the Winter School in Computer Science – 2021

Many thanks to HSE for the opportunity to participate in the Winter School! I learned all the necessary requirements for admission to the master’s program: programs, entrance exams, etc. Now, with another year before admission, I can confidently prepare. Lecturers interested in their reports, everything looked in one breath. And although I was not in the same walls with other participants, I managed to meet new interesting and versatile people, which is also an integral part of the Winter School. Thanks again!

Taisiya Ryumkina, (Irkutsk), participant of the Winter School in Computer Science – 2021

The FCS Winter School is a demo version of studying at HSE. In a week, I met leading teachers and specialists from the Higher School of Economics, learned in detail about each master’s program, and received information to start preparing for the entrance examinations. In the end, I decided on the desired direction and was able to set goals. The Winter School has also become a great place to meet talented people. Great week!

Damir Suleev, (Orenburg), participant of the Winter School in Computer Science – 2021

Participation in the Winter School has become a significant event for me lately. We were told in detail about each master’s program, about the features of admission. This is especially true for me, because now I know exactly which areas I will apply for. I also remember the speeches of researchers and employees from the industry, each of which broadened my horizons and allowed me to learn a lot of new things from the professional field. It is equally important that I met cool and promising guys, communication with whom motivates me to reach new heights and with whom it is just a pleasure to talk. I would like to express special gratitude to the organizers: despite the restrictions associated with the pandemic, the Winter School was held at the highest level. Recreational games were also available.

Vasily Volodin (Moscow), participant of the Winter School in Computer Science – 2020

The Winter School of the Faculty of Computer Science has become a great place to understand the structure of master’s programs. We were given the opportunity to learn more about FKN in a comfortable environment. The lecturers gave lectures, which gave an awareness of the high professionalism of the employees. Also, the winter school has become a great place for new acquaintances. The time spent in the company of motivated people helped me understand that there is nothing better than HSE.

Anna Chernyshova, (Krasnoyarsk), participant of the Winter School in Computer Science – 2020

Can’t decide on a profession? Would you like your future job to be interesting and well-paid, right? Then you need to visit the Winter School! Here you can get acquainted with all master’s programs of FCS. You will learn the latest news about the development of science, about achievements and current problems in the field of computer technology, about specialties in demand on the labor market and about where they really pay a normal scholarship! You will finally understand that you still need to buy a computer!

Georgy Nigmatulin (Orenburg), participant of the Winter School in Computer Science – 2020

Winter School – days of “open” doors! My participation in the Winter School of the Computer Science Department helped me decide exactly which master’s program I will apply for this year! In just one weekend, all school participants managed to listen to lectures from the brightest representatives of master’s programs, in which they deeply revealed the essence of teaching their areas. Here you will have banking and bioinformatics, systems programming and high energy physics mixed in your head – but do not be alarmed, this is a cunning plan so that you understand exactly what you want to do in life.

Anastasia Karpova, (Moscow), participant of the Winter School of Computer Science – 2020

I am extremely glad that I became a participant of the Winter School of Computer Science! In a short time, I managed to get acquainted with talented, smart and ambitious guys who have gathered here from different cities and universities. For two days, representatives of master’s programs from the HSE Faculty of Computer Science came to the school, spoke in detail about the features of admission and the educational process, and gave valuable advice for preparation. We managed to listen to many interesting lectures on the development and application of artificial intelligence and data analysis in science and business. Lectures were given by top experts from Yandex, Microsoft, Sberbank, HSE and RAS, everyone was enthusiastic and open to communication and answers to many questions.

Anton Korzukhin (Perm), participant of the Winter School in Computer Science – 2019

The visit to the Winter School of the Faculty of Computer Science exceeded my expectations in many ways: in addition to listening to classic stories about master’s programs, we had the opportunity to listen to lectures by teachers from one of the leading universities in the country . Also, the winter school brought together a lot of motivated and purposeful people, with many of whom we managed to establish contacts for further communication on professional topics.

In my opinion, such events are a vivid example of how to properly motivate people to develop themselves and enter a master’s program.

Kirill Dolmatov, (Moscow), participant of the Winter School in Computer Science – 2019

Many thanks to HSE for the opportunity to participate in the Winter School! It was an extremely interesting and productive time. I was able to learn more about the available master’s programs, choose a future specialization and meet new friends!

Elena Sotnikova, (Moscow), participant of the Winter School in Computer Science – 2018

I should start by clarifying that I want to enter the Financial Technologies and Data Analysis program. I work in the financial sector and I plan to expand my knowledge, so now I am at the stage of choosing whether to go to the classical financial master’s program or return to the FCS. In the course of lectures and master classes, I realized that the faculty and science are developing very rapidly, and it is with the program offered by the FCS that it will be possible to combine trending areas of research and practice used in the industry. And I got this impression not only about fintech, but also about other programs. And yes, I was convinced that I want to enter this program.

Andrey Sadulin (St. Petersburg), participant of the Winter School in Computer Science – 2017

The Winter School is just the case when the pleasant is combined with the useful. Lectures from teachers from HSE, master classes from representatives of the IT industry and solving really interesting problems smoothly gave way to noisy battles in board games in the evening, dozens of disputes about everything in the world at dinner and an almost never-ending flow of new ideas. Have questions about the law or method? Ask their authors directly! Is this possible anywhere else? Bravo, Tower!

Angelina Elizarova, (Rostov-on-Don), participant of the Winter School in Computer Science – 2017

There was a fascinating selection of lectures for every taste and the opportunity to communicate with such interesting and purposeful people. Also, the Winter School is a great way to get an idea about the HSE study process and choose the right direction for a master’s degree.
