Credentialing Programs

Classified Grant – The state has awarded our organization 135 scholarships for classified employees from 24 districts who want to become teachers.

The Yolo-Solano Center for Teacher Credentialing in partnership with Davis Joint Unified School District has been selected as a California Classified School Employee Teacher Credentialing Program grant recipient for the third time. This program is a teacher career pathway created to recruit, assist and support classified school employees leading to a teaching credential. Eligible program participants may receive stipends up to $4.320 per year for the next 5 years to cover eligible expenses (tuition, fees, and books) for becoming a classroom teacher.

Eligibility:

Must be a classified employee at time of application
Must have an AA, or successfully completed two years of college (Official Transcripts Required)

Golden State Teacher Grant Program (GSTG) – The Golden State Teacher Grant Program (GSTG) awards up to $20,000 to students currently enrolled in a professional preparation program approved by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) and working towards earning their preliminary teaching or pupil personnel services credential.

Students must:

Complete their program and obtain their credential within 3 years from the first distribution of GSTG funds.
Commit to work at a priority school in California for 4 years within 8 years of completing their program.

Washington Unified Unified School (WUSD) is days away from the start of the 2022-2023 school year on August 10th, while Washington Middle College High School opens on August 15th. Enrollment is still open for all NEW students in the school district. Whether you are just starting your educational journey in search of the right Transitional Kindergarten or Kindergarten option or looking for a change, then WUSD is the home for you. For more information, visit www.enrollatwusd.org.

WUSD successfully launched a new Virtual Academy (WUVA) in 2021-22, providing fully-online learning options for all students in grades K-8. WUVA is much more than a replacement for in-person instruction. It is a program of choice, led by WUSD credentialed teachers trained in delivering instruction in a virtual format utilizing various strategies and tools.

New in the 2022-23 school year, WUSD is jumpstarting the only Newcomer Center in the entire Sacramento area to support students that are new to the country with limited prior schooling and limited English language knowledge. With a growing population of newcomer students in our community, this initiative bridges the gap for families by providing targeted instruction on foundational skills.

Looking ahead, WUSD is pleased to share that the District received a $200,000 grant through the California Community Schools Partnership Program to launch two full-service Community Schools/Wellness Centers located on existing K-8 campuses. These neighborhood hubs will provide more access to services that support our children in various ways, reinforce social-emotional health, strengthen family engagement, and improve community health.

WUSD is also rolling out a new equity-centered Strategic Plan for 2022 to 2027. With additional investments prioritized for the recruitment of a Restorative Justice and Equity Coordinator and Social-Emotional Learning Coordinator, the District is fully committed to reinforcing the current strengths of our school system while recalibrating WUSD’s vision and promise of delivering equity, excellence, and empowerment for every student, every day.

Gingerbread Holiday
