San Clemente High School is a high school in southern Orange County, California, in the city of San Clemente. The San Clemente school’s attendance boundaries include the city of San Clemente and portions of Capistrano Beach and San Juan Capistrano. The school has about 3000 students.

History

The school opened in 1964 and the class of 1965 was the first class to graduate. The first class, who attended SCHS for all four years, graduated in 1967. In 1996, San Clemente High School was noted as one of the few remaining “small town” schools. schools in Southern California [ citation needed ] . In 1999, the school was nominated by the US Department of Education as a National Blue Ribbon School.

In 2014, San Clemente won its first state track and field champion; Rocky Fenton had a personal best throw of 184 feet 11 inches in the discus throw and won.

In 2016, San Clemente won their first CIF-SS Football Championship with a 45-35 CIF-SS Division 2 final victory over second-placed Murrieta Valley. [5] The Tritons beat three seeded teams (#1 Heritage/Romoland, #4 Valencia and #2 Murrieta Valley) on their way to the title. San Clemente has played in three consecutive CIF-SS football finals and five overall.

In 2016, San Clemente also captured the Division 1A State Championship after defeating Del Oro High School 22-17 at Sacramento State University.

In the 2018-2019 season, the San Clemente Boys football team won the CIF and state championships with a 26-2-4 record and finished the season ranked 2nd nationally.

In 2019, the San Clemente football team was disqualified from the CIF playoffs before the semi-final game due to the player not being able to contact the coach prior to registration. All wins of the season were annulled and the 10-2 record turned into 0-13.

Visual Arts

Triton Fine Arts Department includes: Triton Marching Alliance, Jazz Band, Color Guard, Drum Line, Dance Team, Women’s Ensemble, Men’s Ensemble, Bel Canto, A Capella, Madrigals, String Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Advanced Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra and Brass Band. Ensemble.

    Camp Surfing at San Clement is located on a campsite on the Pacific Ocean in St. Onofre State Park.
