Lakeland High School is the oldest public high school in Lakeland, Florida, United States. It is part of Polk County Public Schools. Lakeland High School was the original high school in the city. It also shares its campus with the Center for Visual and Performing Arts. Lois Coles Harrison. Harrison students attend academic classes at Lakeland High School.

[3] [4] The Lakeland football team has won seven state championships in 1986, 1996, 1999, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2018. [5] The Dreadnoughts have played their home football games at Thomas W. Bryant Stadium since 1941 years old. They won their first game at the stadium on September 26, 1941, 33–0 over the Florida Military Academy. [6]

Early Years
Grotto attended Lake Gibson High School in Lakeland, Florida, and was a football writer. In football, he was named to the All-State Class 4A First Team twice and was voted the best. Lakeland Ledger Player of the Year twice, and as a senior, he was named to the Super Southern 100 by Atlanta’s Constitution magazine, was named Class 4A Player of the Year, finished 2nd by the closest margin for a Mr. Football in the State of Florida, and was named Player of the Year Old Spice Red Zone. Groth led his team to a state championship football game against Armwood High School. Mainsail walked for 2,700 yards and ran 1,250 yards as a senior. He made 33 touchdowns and rushed for 15 touchdowns. After his senior season, he was named Florida’s 21st best prospect by the magazine. Tampa Tribune, named Florida’s 23rd best prospect by the Orlando Sentinel and Rivals.com ranked him 24th among dual threat defensemen in the nation and 9th3rd among top prospects in the state of Florida. Groth graduated from Gibson Lake High School in 2005 with a 4.0 grade. average score. As a child, he began to study karate and eventually received a black belt of the 2nd degree.
College career
2005 season
Grote spent the 2005 campaign in the red shirt behind the then quarterback. Pat Julmiste.
2006 season
The 2006 season was Grote’s first football team appearance since he won the entire 2005 USF Cup season. He won the starting quarterback spot over senior Pat Julmiste in Game 1 of 2006 against McNeese State. The popular hype continued for Grothe, 2006. Big East Conference Rookie of the Year after leading his team to #7 West Virginia mishaps en route to Morgantown, West Virginia. In his first post-season appearance, he led USF into the PapaJohns.com Bowl against East Carolina. Although Grote missed the entire second half of the game with a calf injury (after going up to 24–7), the Bulls took their first bowl win, 24–7.
ESPN sports broadcaster called Grote the “biggest surprise” in the entire Big East for the 2006 football season. In total offensive yards, Groth averaged 246 yards per game, second only to Louisville. Brian Brom at the 2006 Big East game. Nationally, he ranked seventeenth in total infractions in 2006 and was the second freshman in the nation in that category. [1]
2007 season
Grotto was named after the Maxwell Award watch list, the first USF player ever to be on the list. Grote was also named after the Manning Award, a screening list given to college football’s top quarterback. Groth led the Bulls to a record 9–4 in the 2007 season, including a 26–23 win over No. 18 Auburn at Alabama on September 8, 2007 (also his 21st birthday) and a 21–13 win over No. 5 at West Virginia at home on September 29, 2007 On October 14, 2007, Grotto was at the helm when the Bulls climbed to the No. 2 BCS ranking in the country, the school’s highest ranking in history. [2] The team finished the 2007 regular season ranked 21st in the BCS.
Groth broke his own record for passing yards in a game with 382 in a 38-33 loss to Cincinnati, and had a career 80-yard touchdown against Pittsburgh on November 24, 2007. He finished the 2007 regular season with 22 all-purpose touchdowns against only 14 interceptions.
Grotto and the Bulls accepted an invitation to the Brut Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas where they lost to Oregon on December 31, 2007. quarterback Davey O’Brien’s award watch list. He finished the season with career highs in passes (18), passes (2,911), completions (240), and passes per game (223.9). He also led the team with 591 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns. Grote led the Big East in total attacks (269.4 yards per game) and ranked 21st in the nation in that category.
2009 season
Grote started the 2009 season with wins over Wofford and Western Kentucky. However, on September 19, 2009, during a game against Charleston Southern University, Groth injured his left knee just before halftime. The following day, it was announced that Groth would miss the remainder of the 2009 season due to a torn ACL.

In South Florida, Groth passed 3,000 yards in total offense in his first full season and exceeded 2,400 yards, breaking both. school records previously held by Markelle Blackwell. Toronto Argonauts
On October 6, 2010, Grote signed a training roster agreement with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. He was released by the Argonauts on November 4, 2010. On 8 December Grotto was re-included in the 2011 Argos. [4] On May 27, 2011, the Argonauts liberated Grote again.

Grotto made his Football League Arena debut on July 16, 2011. He took over in the third quarter against the Georgia Force and proceeded to throw 5 touchdown passes. On his first pass attempt, he connected and hit for 40 yards. Former South Florida teammate Amarri Jackson caught three of Grote’s five passes.
