Honestly couldn’t have asked for a better school to go to. Culture and tradition can’t be matched, Sports Programs are among the best in the Nation, Every teacher I’ve had cared about the students success in and out of school. Food was always amazing specifically during the 2021-2022 School Year and rivals any restaurant I like in Austin. Everyone cares how you develop in life as an adult and I am so grateful for the opportunity to be a Chap!

The school has numerous exceptional programs in Physics, Calculus, and Tech Theatre departments, as well as many amazing sports teams (though primarily the football team). A majority of students take some advanced classes, and many take all, however even for students on or below grade level classes, the expectations and rigor is still unparalleled by any public school in the state. The diversity of the school is quite poor, however that’s not to say that the school is extremely whitewashed like you might see in a place like Lubbock or Amarillo , In my personal experience, the lack of diversity is usually just in the numbers, despite the small percentage historically low income minorities, the student body is still diverse in that many people come from around the country and world. My friend group consists of people from: Chile, UK, 2 from Russia, Mexico, Venezuela, Canada, 2 from California, Denmark, Florida, and only 3 from Texas. the student body is surprisingly diverse actually.
Our 12 years with Eanes ISD has provided our daughter with a strong academic foundation and many experiences in the arts and community service in our fine city of Westlake Hills and Austin, Texas. The quality of the teachers has been good, with a few exceptions along the way. The main thing at this point is our daughter is a senior and feels well prepared for the next phase of her life! Transition to adulthood through a four year university education!

Being a student here has been an incredible experience, where I have learned a lot!
All the people have treated me in a proper and kind way!
The teachers are awesome too! They all look happy about working here, and I can really see their love for teaching.
Classes here are not that hard, but I have learned just as well as I would have in harder classes. There are tons of AP classes and have really prepared teachers teaching them.
A great experience overall, 100% recommended.

My experience with Leander Independent School district was okay. What I would have liked to have seen was more advocacy of resources for students to utilize. For the whole of my high school career I had no idea we had a campus psychologist. The students around me also didn’t know, because the friend that I knew who went to see the psychologist frequently, some teachers wouldn’t allow her to see them because they believed she was lying. I also had no idea that there was a class called PALs until I was recommended for it. I had to look it up and do research into what it was (Peer Assistance Leadership program) to see if it was something I wanted to get into. Knowing what is going on around the school is the first step into keeping programs alfoat and funded. It also keeps the students more aware of whats going on around them, and helps them being able to understand that there are groups, programs, and clubs that are avaible so they can create a better experience for themselves.
Leander High School is rated one of the top school districts in Texas. They have a wide variety of electives for high school students to pick from, helping them discover what they want to do later in life sooner. They also have done an exceptional job at ensuring the safety of the students and staff during the pandemic. However, the most prevalent problem is the inflexible curriculum. Teachers are given a very strict, full schedule of what topics to teach and what dates they need to teach them. This prevents them from having the ability to go very in-depth on what they’re teaching, resulting in students not having a very good grasp of what they are being taught, and a lack of understanding of how they can relate it to everyday life. In my opinion, it also makes teachers lose passion for their subject, making the lessons blander and less engaging. Leander ISD also has trouble accepting feedback from students, which results in some students who are unsatisfied with education quality.
