WeeCare offers a home-based daycare environment for families, often called family childcare. Since our WeeCares are found in neighborhoods, they offer a warm space conducive to both playing and learning, so children get a well-rounded experience. One big advantage of family childcare is more one-on-one time for kids with their teacher, as well as less exposure to illness than larger daycare centers. Increased one-on-one attention means a provider is able to offer personalized development so your kiddo is ready for kindergarten. WeeCares are also significantly more affordable than comparable preschools, meaning they fit the budget for more families.

We liked staying in “cottages by the sea” very much. The location is great, you can always hear the ocean noise. It was a surprise to meet English speaking hosts. Oliver and Carmen are very friendly and welcoming. They helped us with delivery from cafes, gave games and swimming accessories for children. Moreover, it seems to be a very safe place. We didn’t even always close the door.

Basilica San Clemers in Rome-Basilica di San Clemente
Home> Lazio> Rome> What to see> attractions of Rome> Churches of Rome
9000
9000 9026 Basilica ( Basilica DI San Clemente , IV century, reconstruction of the XII and XVIII centuries) was built on the site of the house where St. Clement, third pope after St. Peter. nine0006
In the upper church (XII century), to the right of the side entrance, there is the chapel of St. Catherine of Alexandria , decorated with frescoes by Masolino da Panicale (XV century). In the main altar there is a scene of the crucifixion of Christ, and on the side altar there are scenes from the life of St. Ekaterina, the 18-year-old daughter of the Alexandrian king, who converted the soldiers of the Roman emperor Maxentius to Christianity.
Mosaics in the church of San Clemente
In the apse of the church – a grandiose mosaic “The Triumph of the Holy Cross” (XII century). The life-giving Cross is decorated with 12 doves (according to the number of apostles), on the sides of it are the Mother of God and the Apostle John. From the base of the cross, a vine diverges into two branches, symbolizing the salvation of all living things. The vine twists into numerous spirals running along the golden background, inside which the figures and attributes of the saints are depicted. no less interesting is the two-level crypt .
On the first level there is an early Christian church (4th century), in which the ashes of St. Cyril, compiler of the Slavic alphabet. In the 11th century, the Normans who invaded Rome destroyed the city blocks from the Colosseum to the Lateran Basilica. The Church of San Clemente also suffered. After 100 years, during the reconstruction of the church, its lower part was covered up and discovered only during excavations of the 19th century.
In St. Cyril and Methodius , thanksgiving tablets were installed as a sign of gratitude to the Slavic peoples, among which there is a bronze plate from the Russian people. nine0006
Church frescoes
Interesting frescoes ( (IX-XI centuries)), made by order of the Rapitsa family, are original illustrations for episodes from the life of St. Clement. The soldiers sent to arrest the saint became blind and instead began to drag the column, and then the prefect of Rome urged them, saying: “Drag, you sons of bitches!” (the only example of swearing on church frescoes). Clement, tied to an anchor, is thrown into the waters of the Black Sea, and a grotto miraculously appears at the place of his death at the bottom of the sea. In the next fresco, we see how the water parted, allowing pilgrims to approach the tomb of the saint. It also depicts the miracle of saving the son of a widow who lost her child in the sea and found him alive a year later. nine0006
Temple of Mithras
During the excavations, it turned out that under the early Christian church there was an even earlier building – Temple of Mithras (I-III centuries). The remains of this temple are visible behind the bars, on the right on the marble altar Mithra is depicted sacrificing a bull (this scene is traditionally called tauroctony). Relief decorations on the ceiling and stone benches on the walls have been preserved in the adjacent rooms.
The church also has a small catacomb zone of the 5th-6th centuries, opened in the 1938 year. There are 16 graves in it. Under the floor laid out with ancient Roman plinth bricks, under the grate, an underground stream flows.
