We are so blessed as a family to find Ani! She is absolutely dependable and my 3 young kids love when she comes over. She actively plays with them on the ground and plays pretend. She is very patient and always on time. Ani follows my instructions to a “t” and even writes notes on how the kids did/how much they ate etc. She is very detail oriented and we are SO lucky to have found her! Thanks again Ani :)…

Elena A.

We have re-hired Elena to care for our 3-weeks old newborn baby girl for three days a week for over a year after she worked with us earlier caring for our older 4-year old daughter. Elena is excellent with newborns, infants, and toddlers. She has substantial experience, knows developmental stages, sleep patterns, and feeding stages (breast milk/formula, introduction of new foods, healthy feeding habits). Elena is also attentive to baby’s development. In our case, she spotted a mild version of torticollis that we later treated with physical therapy. The physical therapy treatment required her active participation and monitoring. Elena is a mother of four kids (lots of her own-family experience!). It is clear that she genuinely loves kids, loves caring and nurturing them, and giving them the opportunity to safely explore the world around them. Both of our daughters love her! I would hire Elena again….

THE TOLSTOY PRESCHOOL offers a Russian language immersion and child development curriculum for children ages 2-6 years that strives to stimulate the development of the whole child — emotionally, socially, academically, physically and culturally.

The school is geared toward two distinct target groups — children from Russian-speaking families as well as children with little or no exposure to the language or culture.  We cater to parents who are seeking a safe, stable, highly-stimulating environment which encourages cognitive and intellectual growth at a critical stage of their child’s development.

Our school uses 100% language immersion as the method of teaching.  It is learned effortlessly through daily play and  a creative learning environment.  It is based upon the idea that there is no better way to expand a child’s capabilities than through the main functions of language.

Private and public kindergartens in Poland: comparison

Let me tell you about our experience with kindergartens in Poland. We moved to Lublin when the child was two years old. They immediately thought of giving it to the garden, visited several, but in the end they decided to wait, since it was clearly not yet ready. Now my son already goes to a good private kindergarten and he really likes it there. We, too – and the whole organization, and educators.

Why did we go to private? I must say right away that there are no problems with admission to state kindergartens for children of foreigners. But this is our choice – we wanted to have fewer children in the group, a more flexible approach. After all, we are newcomers and at first we didn’t even know the language properly. By the way, in each of the kindergartens where we went to look around, we were warmly welcomed, everything was shown and told. Someone from the staff necessarily spoke English (in preschool institutions in Poland, more attention is paid to learning English). nine0003

I would like to point out that there are no problems with kindergartens in our city. Each district has several public and even more private ones. In general, we can say that a kindergarten can be found within walking distance from any house.

Visitors often ask: are there Russian or Ukrainian kindergartens in Lublin? I don’t know about other cities in Poland, but there are none in Lublin. All Polish and all accept children of any nationality. Plus, in my opinion, there is no point in sending a child to a Russian or Ukrainian kindergarten. If you come to Poland for a long time, in any case, he needs to learn the language well, because in the future he will go to school. Yes, and the child himself will be easier to communicate with peers in additional classes, playgrounds, and so on. Why be a “white crow”? nine0003

I would add that “ours” are not uncommon in kindergartens. For example, in our group of 15 people there are three Russian speakers. So a child who does not know Polish will probably have someone to communicate with at first. Yes, and he will grab the tongue easily and quickly – do not even worry. Polish is the language of the Slavic group, it is largely understandable, especially to those who know Ukrainian. All the children of my friends began to understand everything after 1-2 months, to speak decently – after 3-4. And after about six months, they can no longer be distinguished from the local ones. nine0003

In this article I will talk about the experience with both private (in Polish – prywatne) and public gardens. Many children of my acquaintances go to state schools, so I have information.

How to enroll in a kindergarten in Poland? From what age?

Private

Enrollment is possible all year round subject to availability. You will need to sign an agreement and fill out a questionnaire with questions about the characteristics and hobbies of the child. Upon signing the contract, a non-refundable “in-app” (wpisowy, entrance) fee is paid. Usually it is equal to the monthly payment or higher. This fee guarantees a place for your child. We will talk about other payments below. nine0003

In the meantime, I would like to note that there are two types of private kindergartens – nurseries (żlobek) and regular ones (przedszkole). Children are taken to the nursery from the earliest age (3 months) to three years. The usual groups are from 3 (although it happens earlier) to 6-7 years. It often happens that in the same kindergarten there are both nursery and regular groups. It should be noted that nurseries are usually much (1.5-2 times) more expensive.

State

Kindergarten applications are due in March. However, several of my friends easily arranged for children in state kindergartens in the middle of the school year, the main thing is that there are empty places. There are usually no problems with places, at least in most areas of our city (this does not apply to those where there are solid new buildings and poor infrastructure). They submitted an application – and in the same year they went. But the situation with nurseries is worse – there are very few state nurseries, so you need to get in line for them immediately after the birth of a child. Children are taken to state nurseries from a year (a “decree” in Poland lasts just a year) to three years, to ordinary state kindergartens from 2.5 years. nine0003

I would like to add that according to Polish law, every child (whether from another country or a local) is required to undergo “Zeruvka”, that is, pre-school education, before entering school. This can be done both in the kindergarten (analogues of our preparatory groups), and right at the school. In general, if you enroll a child of 5-6 years old in a kindergarten, then he must be provided with a place, regardless of the workload of the institution. By the way, children in Poland go to school from the age of 7, but if desired, it is possible from the age of 6 (before, by the way, it was like that, but this norm was changed). nine0003

I would add that all children are admitted to public kindergartens, regardless of whether their parents work or not. I heard from someone that it is mandatory that both parents work. So, nobody asks about it.

2. How much do kindergartens cost in Poland?

Private

In Lublin, a private garden will cost PLN 280-450 per month. The nursery is on average twice as expensive. The specific price depends on the garden itself, its size and equipment. The monthly contractual fee (czesne) is paid every month. And even if the child is ill all this month. Such is the minus of private gardens. nine0003

Meals (wyżywienie) are paid extra and cost PLN 7-10 per day. At the beginning of the month, you can choose how many meals are enough for your child and they will order just that many for him. If the child is ill, then you need to notify the director about this by call or SMS before a certain time, then the food will not be ordered and you will not pay for it.

There are other regular payments (once a year or otherwise). For example, for materials (felt-tip pens, paints, paper, plasticine, etc.) or additional classes at your request. nine0003

State

A big plus is that they are partly free. Visiting from 7 am to 13 pm for no charge! From 13:00 to 17:00 – depends on the city, but usually it is 1 zloty per hour, that is, a penny. Meals – about PLN 8 per day, if you take a full set of breakfast, lunch and snacks. For example, my friend pays about 180 zł a month for a state garden, her son goes there until 5 pm.

When a child enters, a contract is signed, which indicates at what time he will visit the kindergarten. If necessary, the time can be changed later. If the child falls ill, again, this must be reported in advance and payment for those days when he was not in the garden will not be charged. nine0003

Consumables (pencils, etc.) are included in the payment. Although additional contributions are sometimes still required, for example, to the “garden fund” or for child insurance.

Opening hours

Private

As a rule, they are open from 7 am (rarely from 6!) to 5 pm. The Poles are “early birds”, usually leaving for work early, but they finish already closer to 15 o’clock. It is not uncommon when at 15-16 hours there are almost no children left in kindergartens.

Private gardens open all year round. However, during the summer holidays and New Year holidays, mixed groups are created, since there are few children walking. nine0003

State

Also open from 7 am to 5 pm. Like schools, most of them are open from September to June, holidays in July and August. Although there are gardens on duty.

What do children do in Polish kindergartens?

Private

The monthly fee includes daily lessons. They are usually held in the morning before lunch. As a rule, this is a foreign language, drawing, modeling, dancing, rhythm, singing, etc. On the eve of some holidays, performances for matinees are being rehearsed. nine0003

Afternoon classes are available for an additional fee (parents need to register their children in advance). It can be Lego construction, martial arts, plastic arts, circus / theater, chess, pottery, drawing, and so on. They are conducted by experts in their fields, “tour” in all the gardens of the city.

Private gardens are great because they offer children a lot of extra activities and excursions. Children are taken to zoos, game centers, museums and other interesting places. For example, to a bakery, to a pottery workshop, to a pet store, to a fire station. Theaters come to the garden, representatives of various professions (firefighters, policemen, athletes). Recently, representatives of the cynological society came with specially trained dogs. The children were delighted! nine0003

State

In general, the same thing here. There are classes for everyone, there are for an additional fee, there are matinees. But excursions, performances and interesting guests are much less common.

Catering

Private

With very few exceptions, private kindergartens do not have kitchens. Food for children is ordered from catering companies that cook to order and deliver food to city organizations. In the garden itself, there is only a kitchenette with 1-2 employees who put food on plates and distribute it to groups. nine0003

The company’s menu is usually known in advance, it is posted in the corridor of the kindergarten, it is sent to parents by email. Everything there is usually tasty, healthy and quite varied. If a particular child has allergies to certain foods, special meals will be ordered for them.

Sample menu

State

There is no catering here anymore – there are kitchens, there are cooks, everything is cooked in the garden. I have not heard bad reviews from friends about food in private gardens.

What do Polish kindergartens look like?

Private

In terms of size and territory, private kindergartens are very inferior to public ones. With very rare exceptions, they do not have their own buildings, they are located on the first floors of houses or rent office space

Although there are also “private psheshkole” with their own buildings, but very rarely + they are more expensive.

Due to the small area, most private gardens are cramped. The corridors and changing rooms are small. Group rooms – where it is, but I would not choose a garden where 15 people huddle in 15-20 sq.m. nine0003

There are no separate bedrooms, for children to sleep promo put special mattresses on the floor, which are then stacked.

If some additional classes are held in one group, then children who do not attend them are collected in another.

Only private gardens located in their own buildings have their own playgrounds. Although sometimes there are exceptions. For example, our kindergarten is located near the park and, apparently, by agreement with the city authorities, they installed their own indoor playground. Well, most often children are taken to public playgrounds (in warm weather – summer, late spring, early autumn), or they walk in pairs next to the kindergarten. nine0003

If we talk about the interior decoration and equipment of private gardens, then everything is fine – good repair, comfortable bathrooms especially for children, there is everything you need.

State-owned

If we talk about equipment, the state-owned ones are no worse than private ones – they also have excellent repairs and excellent toys. But there are more pluses – most state kindergartens have their own buildings of several floors.

From this it follows that the locker rooms are spacious, the groups are spacious, there are separate assembly / sports halls, bedrooms with beds. And also its own rather big territory with playgrounds (unless they may not always be new) and greenery. It’s safe and fun for kids to walk there. nine0003

How many children and teachers are in the groups?

Private

Usually in groups of 10-15 people. But often someone is sick, so they go less. There are usually two teachers. There are more nurseries – one adult for 4-5 people.

State

There are usually a lot of children in groups – 20-25. There is one teacher and a “nanny”. There are more teachers in nursery groups.

What is the daily routine in Polish kindergartens?

Private

The gardens are open from 6-7 am. By 9 most children come, so until 9 they do exercises and have breakfast, and classes start at 9. At 12 lunch, then a walk and additional classes. There is always free time when children can just play with toys. At 15-16 hours – afternoon snack. Since many children are already being taken away at about 3 pm, from that time on, prefabricated groups and on-duty educators remain in many kindergartens.

As a rule, children from the age of 3 in Polish kindergartens no longer sleep during the day. Instead, after dinner there is leżakowanie, 15-30 minutes they lie, relax and listen to calm music or fairy tales. For babies who are used to sleeping during the day, this rhythm can be difficult. nine0003

State

Everything here is the same as private.

That’s all I wanted to tell you. Ask questions in the comments if you have any :-).

We have been studying at the ballet school, one might say from the very beginning, for almost three months now, for all the time my child does not go, she flies to school for classes. The highest punishment is not to go to the ballet, starting with the banner at the entrance and ending with everything inside, everything is perfect! Having always entered the school, with a kind smile, our administrator and I will probably call the not very appropriate word MISTRESS, but she really, the mistress of her business, the owners in all respects, will meet, see off, hug, I am sometimes jealous))), my daughter loves her very much and admits it publicly (and it costs a lot), Oksana is always attentive, polite, tactful, always looks like a million! After all, it is so important for girls to see beautiful well-groomed women, it enriches the inner nature of every future lady. You can write endlessly about the school and its leader, my daughter and I are in love with ballet! This is our everything now! With love to the school of Russian ballet in G. BALNAUL. Evgenia

My daughter Masha has already attended 30 ballet classes in Omsk with teacher Ekaterina Vladimirovna. She really likes to study with her: a calm, balanced and at the same time very attentive to detail style of teaching. Masha enjoys going to class. Thanks to Ekaterina Vladimirovna for her patience, ability to find an approach to the child and create a comfortable atmosphere in the classroom. And the straight back, slender neck and smooth movements of Masha, which we have acquired during this time, further support our desire to practice!!!

We are engaged in the school “Russian Ballet” in the city of Krasnodar along Levanevsky Street. My daughter and I are delighted with the teachers, the atmosphere in this school. The teachers are very attentive to the children, they will pay attention to everyone, they will help and prompt everyone. But live music distinguishes it from other schools. Children are engaged under the piano, which causes additional interest in classes.
Thank you!!! We will try not to miss, but we will definitely not give up !!!!

Since April, the child has been attending this school. She is my electric broom and she needs rigor and discipline, even her daughter has crooked X legs. Ballet was an excellent alternative to all this for 5 months, the child’s gait improved, the legs became even and of course the iron discipline does its job. Solnechnogorsk city

My daughter goes to classes with Ekaterina Vladimirovna Maksimova. The child looks forward to every lesson. A teacher with a kind heart, loving children, a professional in his field. Ekaterina Vladimirovna finds an approach to each child. We are very happy that we took classes with her!
