“Russian Word” weekend school in Rome.
Our school
Founded as part of the Russkoe Slovo charity in 2012 on the initiative of interested parents and teachers. This is a weekend school. Classes are held on Saturdays. Our goal is to enable the child to get acquainted with Russian culture, art, literature, folk art and music while studying the Russian language. And what is important in our interactive age is to create a beneficial and interesting environment for communication for children with peers in Russian.
School program
Our school program includes not only entertaining classes in the study of the Russian language and Russian culture, but also fun holidays for children and their parents! Fascinating excursions and trips! Developing extracurricular activities and much more!
Today, the Russian Word school is the largest in the city of Rome and one of the largest in Italy, with over 200 children from 2 to 18 years old. There is a 4-level kindergarten, primary and secondary schools. In addition, the school offers courses “Russian as a foreign language” for an adult Italian audience.
Pupils of the school
Pupils of the Russian Word school actively participate in various international competitions in the Russian language, history and culture of Russia. We are proud of our results, this is an objective indicator of the quality of our school.
We are the winners (1st and 2nd prizes) of the international competition of children’s creativity “Tales of a Beautiful Heart” in 2014 (conducted by the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO).
Awards and achievements
We were awarded a special diploma of the international competition-festival “We speak Russian” (organized by the Bashkir State University in May 2015) for the essay-essay “What does the Russian language mean to me.”
Pupils of the school became laureates of the contest “The best performance of a song in Russian”, held in Moscow in 2013.
We became part of the children’s team that represented Italy at the Children’s Sports Olympiad in Sochi in 2016. In the team standings in swimming (3 out of four participants are our students), Italy took 11th place out of 30, and in the individual standings in chess, a student of our school, Rubinstein Camilla, took 6th place out of 34. competitions of the Sochi 2016 Olympics took 1st place out of 45 teams.
1st place in the category “children 9-11 years old” at the first Russian language Olympiad in Italy, held by the Harmony Educational Center in May-June 2016 and in which all the leading Russian schools in Italy took part.
In 2016, the school entered into an agreement with the State Institute of the Russian Language. Pushkin, and now we are the Rome Center for children’s and adult certification of the level of Russian language proficiency. The agreement was signed by the Rector of the Institute Margarita Rusetskaya.
We have been actively participating in the program of the Russian Government “Creating a Russian School Abroad” since November 2015, as part of a project proposed by the Evrika Educational Concern. In addition, we were invited as representatives of Italy and took part in the First International Congress “In Russian. In the context of multilingualism”, held in Berlin in April 2016 and dedicated to the creation of Russian schools and the promotion of Russian education abroad.
Association
The Association is a full member of the ARSI and takes an active part in events organized by the Russian Embassy in Italy, KSARSI, and the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Rome. We work in close collaboration with the Parish of Rome of the Russian Orthodox Church and took part in the international “Round Table on the Issues of the Russian Orthodox Church”, held in November 2014 in Rome, as well as in the seminar “Communication between the Russian Orthodox Church and associations of compatriots”.
Being an active promoter of Russian culture and the Russian language in Italy, the association represents the Russian diaspora at events organized by the Municipality of Rome, such as the “Festival of Cultures”, “Christmas Celebration”, organized by the Romanian Association “Blue World”. Articles about our school were published in the international magazine “KIDS”, in the newspaper “Vesti obrazovaniya”, as well as videos were shown on various channels of Russian and Italian television.
The bilingualism of our children is a great asset. And it is in our power to maintain, develop and increase this wealth!
Pre-school education in Italy – features, cost, start of general education, come in!
Education in Italy attracts those who plan to connect life with creative professions, such as art and design. If you plan to study at a private school in Italy, you should also send your child to an Italian kindergarten to immerse yourself in the language environment and smoothly adapt to local educational traditions.

How is pre-school education organized in Italy?
Pre-school education in Italy consists of two stages.
Asilo Nido is a nursery that accepts children from three months to three years. Most often these are groups of short stay – from 9:30 to 13:00. A full day for this age is offered mainly in private kindergartens.
There are not enough places in the nursery in Italy, the children of poor parents have a priority right to them.
In the nursery, children only play, the main focus is on social adaptation and the development of basic self-care skills.
Scuola Materna is intended for children from 3 to 6 years of age. Despite the fact that learning remains completely playful, children still learn here.
Priority areas for the development of pupils include familiarity with the outside world and social development, physical and creative development, classes in their native and (in some institutions) foreign languages.
Characteristics of Italian kindergartens
- There are usually at least 16 children in the state scuola materna group. For this number there is one educator and one assistant.
- Groups of different ages – children from three to six years old are together. For classes, pupils of different ages are seated at different tables.
- Most often, gardens are open until 16:00 without daytime sleep, rare extended day groups are open until 19:00.
- Children in kindergartens are fed with lunch, which is prepared at special food processing plants. Parents can provide breakfast and an additional snack to the baby with them.
How much does preschool education cost in Italy
If the child goes to a state kindergarten, then the visit will be free, but meals and monthly excursions are paid separately. Usually the amount is up to 100 euros per month and is recalculated if the baby for some reason did not go to the garden.
In private kindergartens, the fee is up to 300 euros per month. This amount is fixed and is not recalculated in case of illness.
The price usually includes sports and music lessons, and in many gardens, swimming and English lessons.
Trying to solve the problem of lack of places in preschool institutions, Italians are also actively opening family or home kindergartens. They are slightly cheaper than standard private gardens, but much more expensive than public gardens.
Kindergartens as a shortcut to private schools in Italy
Attendance at kindergarten is not required by law. And yet more than 90% of children attend them. This is done, among other things, because when entering a good school, the question will definitely be asked – did the child go to kindergarten. Socialization in Italy is one of the most important components of preschool development.
Many private schools in Italy have their own kindergartens, which provide high-quality preparation for studying in this particular institution. For example, if in the future education is planned partially in English, then they begin to study it already in kindergarten.
For a child studying in such a kindergarten, a place in an elementary school is automatically reserved.
