While preparing the materials for this article, I couldn’t get the lines —The handshake seals the contract. From the contract, there is no turning back — out of my head. 

For those who do not know, the above-mentioned lines are from the song Everything Counts by Depeche Mode. 

And really, it seems that everything counts in the job application process.

We live in times when employers are just a few clicks away from learning anything about the professional who applies for a job. 

Almost nothing can be hidden from managers and bosses — from professional records to personal viewpoints. 

Therefore, employers often opt for a withdrawal of an employment offer because they subsequently see that they do not like something about the initially accepted professional.

Bearing all this in mind, in this article, we decided to conduct research and explain to you:

No matter the reason, rescinding a job offer is a big deal. You’re dealing with someone’s livelihood, not to mention the investment the hiring team has in their selection. That means that you need to be courteous, direct, professional, and prompt. Be prepared for the candidate to have a negative reaction, and unless it’s excessive, don’t hold it against them.

It’s best to call the candidate to inform them of the offer being rescinded. Once that’s done, you should also send a written communication to that effect. This puts everything in writing and makes it harder for the candidate to sue the company. It also prevents any confusion, whether feigned or genuine.

Of course, some of the show is going to depend on whether the error was yours or the candidates’. If the error was on the company’s end, then it’s even more important that you act quickly and professionally. Be sure to apologize for the error. If there’s a chance to offer them a similar position, it may be in your best interest to do so.

Consider the candidate’s circumstances. For instance:

  3. Then select “Recall message”;

How to revoke a letter in Outlook 17

The principle of manipulation has not changed in the latest version, the procedure is almost the same. To revoke a notification through Outlook 2017, you need to run:

  1. Find a message in the “Sent” category;
  2. Click on the “File” menu;
  3. In the menu, select the item “Details”;
  4. In the column “Replanning” below there is the item “Resend”, you need to click on it;
  5. In the drop-down list at the bottom, click on “Recall letter”.

If the message just needs to be corrected, then at the last step you need to click on “Send again”. In this case, a separate page will load with the ability to edit content.

Important! To find out whether the user received the message or was able to withdraw it, you can open the Tracking item in the “Parameters” section, where you can set a selection next to the options with receiving notifications about the delivery and reading of letters.

How can I cancel an email via a browser?

Outlook mail can be used not only through the application client, but also through the web interface of the resource. You can access it just by logging into Microsoft through the site:

  1. Launch a desktop browser;
  2. Go to https://outlook.live.com/mail/#/inbox;
  3. Enter the address of the mail account and go to the next window;

This authorization will allow you to use the same features as the app, including the ability to revoke emails.

  1. After loading the page, you need to select the appropriate letter;
  2. An active “Cancel” button will appear at the top;
