The Simpsons High School: 10 Hidden Details You Definitely Didn’t Notice

    Fandom

In the 30 years that the show has been on the screen, all Springfield locations have been explored many times by fans. It would seem that it is simply impossible to learn anything new about the town! But no: the creators often leave funny easter eggs, change the appearance of buildings right in the course of the story, or simply reveal the details of key places.

    Mystery Pool

Springfield Main School has an amazing array of facilities for every student, including sports fields, a park and well-equipped classrooms. The most incomprehensible area is the pool. In the early episodes it is closed, in later episodes it is open, then it is filled up, but the children still go to swimming lessons. So how many pools does this school have?

    No less mysterious belfry

Another structure that appears and disappears throughout the series. Most often, the bell tower flashed in the early seasons, when the relationship between Director Skinner and Patty Bouvier is just developing – lovers arrange dates there. But when the connection stopped, the bell tower also disappeared. Maybe she stood there specifically for tragic love? ..

The school is constantly changing color

In general, it is not surprising that many buildings in the city are repainted. However, Springfield Elementary School does not change its colors once every few seasons, but once a season, or even several times per episode. The work of the gardener Willy or did the artists overlook?

    Surprisingly many teachers

Recall that we are talking about an elementary school, which is almost entirely made of fiberglass. For a place that holds back salaries and fails to provide students with the proper education, Springfield School has a huge teaching staff. Over the course of the series, at least five different physical education teachers, a ballet teacher, and a coding teacher were mentioned or shown. Although it is possible that the school just has a huge staff turnover 🤷‍♀️

    Real address

Rarely mentioned, but it exists: the school is located at Plimpton Street, 19 . By the way, this is the real address of the city of Middleboro, Massachusetts, however, there is not a school there, but a private house. Perhaps the creators did not start from the real place, but paid tribute to the animator Bill Plimpton in this way.

Memorial to Children Lost on Tour

Springfield Elementary School teachers love outdoor activities and field trips. Usually children are taken out for a walk, and teachers do not need to plan the lesson. No wonder Miss Crabapple and Miss Hoover go on such sorties all the time.

However, in such open classes, children constantly get lost, run away to the city or the forest. Therefore, next to the school there is a huge wall in memory of the children who got lost during the excursions. The gardener, Willy, looks after her and periodically writes down all the new names.

    Springfield Elementary School

    Springfield West Elementary School

    The school has a “twin”

It makes sense that there are several elementary schools in Springfield, but for some reason they all look the same. In the west of the city is located West Springfield Elementary , which has exactly the same floor plans and decor as Springfield Elementary. Lisa learned the hard way how easy it is to confuse the two places.

And there is also a talisman!

Like most American schools, Springfield Elementary has its own mascot, a huge life-size puppet that serves as a mascot for the school and its sports team. Here it is “noble cougar” , as Skinner puts it. Thus, the school’s football team is known as the “Springfield Cougars”.
