    Principal’s Message

    Dear Parents/Guardians:

Welcome back to the 2022-2023 school year!  We hope you had a wonderful and relaxing summer vacation and are ready with your children to begin a new school year!

We look forward to providing a continuous educational process – 3K through 5th Grade

Your children’s learning progress will be monitored monthly and periodic parent reports will be issued to you.  In November, and in March, we urge you to attend Parent/Teacher Conferences to discuss your child’s developing progress. We would like to see every parent as we will not send home report cards with the students at these times. We hope you will remain in close contact with your child’s teacher to follow your child’s progress, as well as lending your support to your child throughout the academic year.    We encourage your involvement in the school throughout the year!

On behalf of the Staff and myself, we welcome you to the start of a great new school year!

     Sincerely,

    Shirley Torres, Principal

high school education, large selection of New York private and public schools

    New York school system

Decided to send your child to a good New York school? This must be taken care of in advance, at least a year before the start of the school year. The sooner you start your search, the easier it will be to apply and get into the school of your choice. To enter a good kindergarten, some parents enroll their child there even before his birth.

The school system in the United States is:

    – First comes Pre-kindergarten School or nursery. They are intended for children aged 3 to 4 years.

    – Next comes elementary school (Elementary school) . Elementary school education lasts until 5th grade, but in many schools in New York it goes up to 6th grade. The first year of elementary school in the United States is classified as kindergarten. Kindergartens are designed for children under the age of 5 years.

    – After school begins (Middle school ). It lasts from 6th to 8th grade.

    – And finally, high school

There are two types of schools in New York: free secondary (public school) and private school (private school).

New York Private Schools (private school) can attend all the children of the city, regardless of their place of residence. The application process, like tuition, varies by school. Tuition fees can reach $30,000 per year. However, in order to get into a good school, you need to withstand tough competition, and for this you need to think everything through in advance, at least a year in advance. The receipt of scholarships and financial aid depends on the academic performance of the student and on the financial situation of his family. All schools require an entrance test. Some schools also require you to write an essay and/or pass an interview.

Please see our list of Kindergartens, Elementary Schools, Private High Schools, and Top Private High Schools

New York Public Schools (public schools) offer free education to any child over school age. There are 4 types of public schools, which differ from each other in terms of admission.

Public schools, admission to which depends on the place of residence

Admission to public school , kindergarten , primary school or secondary school depends on where you live. There are 32 school districts in all New York City districts, six of which are in Manhattan.

School distribution is handled by district public school offices. For enrollment, you need to come with your child and all the necessary documents to the district office. There are two district offices in Manhattan, which cover all 6 districts of Manhattan and the Bronx:

    District Office No. 9

District Manager: Peter Khini (Peter Heaney, Jr)

    School areas 1, 2, 4 and 7

    333 7th Avenue

    +1 212-356-7500

    District Office No. 10

District Manager: Gale Reeves (Gale Reeeves)

    School areas 3, 5, 6 and7

    4360 Broadway

    +1 917-521-3700

    The necessary documents:

Valid proof of your place of residence

  • Birth certificate, passport
  • Immunization report
  • Child record card (recommended but not required)
  • Child’s Individual Education Program
  • Charter Schools

An alternative to public and private schools are charter schools that combine features of both. They are operated independently of New York State and are focused on bringing new ideas and community education. If you are interested in more information about charter schools, please call: +1(212)4378300

    Public High Schools

New York City Public High Schools have no residency restrictions. Most children apply to high school during their last year of high school. Some schools include both middle and high programs and therefore do not require such applications to be made after high school.

    Specialized Public High Schools

New York has several specialty high schools that are also the city’s top high schools. These schools are called specialized, as each of them has its own profile. For example, if your child is interested in the performing arts, you might want to look into one of the schools with such a focus.

In order to enter any special school, a student will have to pass an entrance test (SHAT). You can find the date and place of passing such exams on the website of the New York Department of Education.

Many of your questions can also be answered at NYC Department of Education by calling +1(212)3743990 or emailing [email protected] .
