Kindergarten in Phuket and schoolsOlgatravel.com

Questions about moving to Phuket with children have become more frequent, a lot of questions about a kindergarten in Phuket and schools. In this article I will tell you everything I know about kindergartens in Phuket and a little about schools.

– Thai Pass cancelled! From July 1, it has become even easier to enter Thailand!

Kindergarten in Phuket: general information

There are several types of kindergartens in Phuket:0012

  • Private Thai-English kindergartens
  • International kindergartens
  • Gardens at international schools
  • Russian kindergartens
  • From what age, kindergartens on Phuket

    • in Thai private gardens usually accept children from 9 months
    • 1111. kindergartens usually from 1.5 years old
    • Kindergartens at international schools from 2-3 years old
    • Russian kindergartens in Phuket from 2-3 years old, except for two, which can be sent from 1. 5 years old

From the age of 5 in Thailand, children go to school, so most kindergartens are up to 5 years old, but Russian kindergartens in Phuket are up to 6-7 years old.

    Working hours

Each kindergarten has its own working hours, for example:

    • our private Thai kindergarten is open from 7:30 to 18:00
    • 8:00 to 17:00-18:00

Usually Saturday-Sunday are days off, but, for example, our kindergarten is open on Saturdays (except the last Saturday of the month). Holidays are the same – somewhere more than weekends, somewhere less. School gardens are on vacation, just like schoolchildren!

During the coronovirus and quarantine, kindergartens at international schools did not work, our small private kindergarten worked almost all the time, closed only at the very peak of quarantine.

    Location

There are a lot of kindergartens in Phuket, completely Thai, about which I don’t know anything, there are in every district. But private gardens, gardens at international schools and Russian gardens are concentrated mainly in the center and south of the island. But do not look for such gardens in Kata, Karon, Patong – they simply are not there.

To find kindergartens in your area, type in Google maps: Kindergarten, Nursery, Pre-School. Each kindergarten has a page on instagram and/or facebook.

How to arrange a child in a kindergarten in Phuket

Usually in small kindergartens (private Thai, international) there are always free places and it is not difficult to get there, the problem with places happens in Russian kindergartens (especially during the peak season) and in some kindergartens at international schools.

    What documents are needed?

    • Copy of the parent’s passport
    • Copy of the child’s passport or birth certificate
    • Completed questionnaire
    • I heard that somewhere they require a certificate from the clinic that the child is healthy – they didn’t ask in our kindergarten. Now they can ask for the result of a covid test, a vaccination certificate from covid parents.

    Russian kindergarten in Phuket

Now there are five Russian kindergartens and one semi-kindergarten in Phuket 🙂 The first three are considered international – bilingual kindergartens.

    1. Kinderville Kindergarten. In Rawai/Niharn area. For children 2-7 years old. There is a swimming pool. Classes are in Russian, there are English lessons. Works from 8:00 to 18:00. The cost is about 33,000 baht per month, with an annual contract of 24,500 baht per month, an initial payment of 5,000 baht. Often there are no places during the peak season!

    2. Kindergarten Tale . In the Rawai area, but closer to the Chalong ring. For children 2-7 years old. There is a swimming pool. Classes in Russian and English. Works from 8:30 to 17:00. The cost is about 20,000 baht per month, book your seats in advance!

    3. Kindergarten Smile. Located in Chalong in the side street towards the Big Buddha. For children 2-6 years old. Classes in Russian, English, Chinese. Opening hours from 9:00 to 17:00. The cost is 17,000 baht per month.

    4. Kindergarten Mama Mia. Chalong. Works from 9:00 to 17:00. For children from 1.5 to 5 years. A very cozy home kindergarten, ideal for the little ones, my Yaroslav went to this kindergarten during the coronovirus and the closure of our main garden. You can go half a day or a full day. The cost is 16,000 baht per month.

    5. Kindergarten at the Lemonade kids club. It cannot be called a full-fledged kindergarten, rather day care. The only place with Russian-speaking teachers in the north of the island in Bang Tao. It is located at the Lemonade club, which I wrote about in an article about children’s playrooms in Phuket. For children 3-6 years old, open from 10:00 to 16:00 cost 1200 baht per day!

    6. New Kindergarten “Mango”. In the Bang Tao area near the Blue Tree. For children 2-6 years old, opening hours from 9:00 to 17:00. Cost from 30,000 baht per month.

    7. New garden Jumandji. Russian-English. Yanui District (Rawai), children from 1.5 to 7 years old. Opening hours 8:30 – 18:00. Cost from 40,000 baht per month or from 33,000 baht if paid annually.

    Kindergartens at international schools

Every international school has kindergartens. They take children from 2-3 years. In the main large schools:

    • payment by semesters (not by months!)
    • there is a down payment that is not refundable
    • returnable deposit

But now, during the pandemic, many schools are making concessions, especially not as popular as HeadStart or British, and take children for a short period, allow you to pay by months and do not require you to pay a deposit.

Main international schools with kindergartens attached to them.

    • UWC Thailand International School – 529,000 baht, located in the very north of the island closer to the airport
    • British International School – 422,000 baht, center of the island
    • Kajonkiet International School – 245,000 baht, center of the island, Kathu
    • HeadStart International School – 300,000 baht, center of the island, Kathu , Chalong
    • Berda Claude International School (BCIS) – 218,000 baht, Chalong
    • Buds International School Phuket – 12,800 baht per month. Chalong
    • International School of Phuket (ISP) – 107 900 baht per year, you can pay by month – 11,980 baht per month, Rawai near the Chalong ring
    • Lighthouse International School Phuket – 151,600 baht per year, you can pay by month, Rawai.

    Other kindergartens

There are many other kindergartens in Phuket, I will list the ones that are well known: Jay ALCC – Kathu Phuket Town

  • Kanok Khwan Kindergarten – Phuket Town – Chalong
  • Lighthouse Chalong International Kindergarten & School – Chalong
  • Little Einstein Kindergarten – Chalong – Rawai
  • ABC International Nursery and Pre-School – Rawai 9 – Naiharn
  • Star1 – Kamala

In these kindergartens, the average cost per month is 7,000 baht – 15,000 baht

You can go for half a day or all day. The cost from 8:00 to 12:00 – 8,000 baht per month, from 8:00 to 18:00 – 15,000 baht per month.

    Schools in Phuket

Fatal prank: the Ministry of Emergency Situations told what safety rules should be taught to children in the first place

Darya Ilyina, senior inspector of the department for supervision and preventive work in the city of Tver, gave advice on how to teach children simple safety rules during a fire.

The main causes of fires involving children, as a rule, are childish pranks, as well as the lack of proper parental control. This year, three children died in fires in the Tver region. Children of what age are more likely to suffer from careless handling of fire? How to prevent a tragedy for parents on their own, and what preventive measures are taken by the Ministry of Emergency Situations? Daria Ilyina, Senior Inspector of the Department of Supervisory Activities and Preventive Work in the City of Tver, announced this on the air of the program “In the Center of Attention” on Pilot Radio, the full version of which can be listened to in the “Podcasts” section on the radio station’s website.

The reason for childish pranks in the case of young children, from three to five years old, is insufficient control and attention from parents. In the case of adolescence, this is already a manifestation of a certain independence, excessive responsibility, which is supported only by criminal liability, which comes from the age of 16. To minimize the number of accidents with children, the Ministry of Emergency Situations regularly takes preventive measures.

    — We come to kindergartens, preschool educational institutions, schools, colleges. Also in separate circles and classes. We also visit large families. With younger children, it is easier to conduct classes in a contact form, a game, also showing bright pictures, images, videos. At the moment, a lot of videos are represented by cartoons. Children are interested. They get emotional. Often they say some things that adults do not know, – says Daria Ilyina.

The main cause of death of children in a fire lies in their inability to act in critical situations. In order to teach a child this, it is necessary to develop a specific algorithm of actions for him.

    – If a fire broke out in a room, then the first rule in this case is to move away from a source of open fire or smoke. Flames and smoke are the main factors in the injury and death of children in a fire. There is a so-called security corridor. At a level from half a meter to the floor level, where the maximum smoke-free zone. It is necessary to move on your haunches. You need to move along the walls to a safe area, to the exit from the room. Also, the child must understand that the means of breathing and vision must be closed. You need to move by touch, covering your nose and mouth with some kind of rag. It can be a thing from the room, it can be clothes. Better if the fabric is wet. It can be dry, the main thing is to cover it tightly so as not to get carbon monoxide poisoning and directly toxic smoke, – explains the senior inspector of the department of supervisory activities and preventive work.

There are a number of rules to remind your children. For example, that the main cause of fires is short circuits. They are associated with any household appliances that we use every day at home, including children. It is strictly forbidden to touch a burning, smoking electrical appliance.

    – I do not consider it necessary to assume any extinguishing or elimination of fire by children. Accordingly, the main rule for them is to explain that you need to run away from the cause of the fire. The main thing is to hide from her. It is very important to explain to the child that it does not matter what caused the fire. If he is left at home alone, or an adult is in another room, then the child should not hide, be silent. He must speak, identify himself. It can scream loudly, it can knock on something. If the situation has moved to the level that there is no one left in the room, and the fire department comes to the rescue, only by the noise, by the voice of the child, they will be able to find him. So it will be easier to find him, – Daria Ilyina indicated.

If the child has the opportunity to leave the apartment or private house, they must immediately leave the premises. If suddenly a fire started from the area where the only way out is a window or a loggia, it is necessary to close all the doors that bring the child closer to the fire so that temperature, smoke, and the flame itself do not penetrate there. Next, you need to close the door on the balcony behind you, shout for help.

Another potential hazard is pyrotechnics. The number of points of sale increases with the approach of the New Year holidays.

    — In advance, fire inspectors begin raids on the sale of pyrotechnics. These can be autonomously located in separate areas, even those located in any territories of pavilions and shops. Distances, primary fire extinguishing means, availability of all certificates for the products sold look natural. Also, only dummy boxes should be in the field of view of a person. All goods must be kept out of the reach of children and parents, says the guest of the program.

In the Tver region, the installation of autonomous smoke fire detectors in houses inhabited by large families and families in difficult life situations continues. Work in this direction has been activated in the region since 2019 on behalf of Governor Igor Ruden. Statistics are being kept on how many people were saved thanks to timely triggered devices.

    – In this year, 2022, 7 cases of operation of autonomous smoke fire detectors were registered. In total, they helped save the lives of 36 people, of which 22 are children, – the senior inspector of the department for supervisory activities and preventive work cites statistics.

If, nevertheless, an accident occurs and the apartment catches fire, the parents are not at home and the neighbors are also at work, then the child, as soon as he ran out into the street, must remember a number of rules.
