KPREP – Heartland Early Education

KPREP FLYER

K-Prep serves “at risk” four year-olds who have been excluded from a regular preschool or childcare setting because of emotional or behavioral problems.

It is an intensive treatment program with an education component. This program will help children identify and begin to change unsuccessful behavior patterns and attitudes before returning to a regular preschool setting.

Each child’s parent/guardian assists in the development of individual objectives to address the specific reasons the child was recommended for K-Prep. Family participation through case management, involvement in “family nights” (held once each month at K-Prep), and family therapy, play an important part in the success of everyone who attends K-Prep. The continued commitment of parents and caregivers, as well as that of cooperating agencies, is essential in helping children be successful.

K-Prep’s Mission is to:

  • Provide services to children not having success in typical preschool settings

  • Provide high quality, high intensity mental health services

  • Provide kindergarten readiness for kids with greatest need

  • Provide support to ensure successful family engagement

This team meets regularly to review referrals, track the progress of program participants, and make recommendations for additional assistance when necessary.

If referral is approved, paperwork and the enrollment process will begin.

If referral is not approved, resources will be provided which may include screening for special education or application for mental health services.
