Nature Center Preschool
Established in 2000, Nature Preschool is a play-based program in which children learn by doing: hiking, climbing, digging, building, and being outdoors. We believe that early childhood is a time for discovery, a time to enjoy the many miracles of the natural world:
- The colors of fall prairie grass.
- The texture of a snake’s skin.
- The call of chorus frogs.
- The smell of plum blossoms.
- The feel of cool, damp soil.
Research has found that frequent, unstructured play in natural environments has a strong positive influence on the developmental needs of young children. Play contributes to school success by helping children develop the skills necessary for literacy, math, self-regulation, social negotiation, critical thinking and leadership. The preschool program at Pioneers Park Nature Center provides the opportunity for children to learn through play and with nature, setting them up for success in Kindergarten and beyond!
Nature Preschool offers two programs; preschool for children 3 – 4 years of age on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 – 11:30 a.m. and prekindergarten for children 4 – 5 years of age on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00 – 11:30 a. m. or 12:45 – 3:15 p.m.
The curriculum at Nature Preschool focuses on the children’s interests and discoveries in nature while also incorporating activities for:
- Developing and strengthening communication skills.
- Developing independence and perseverance.
- Recognizing letters, words, and developing phonological awareness.
- Learning shapes, counting, quantities, sorting, and comparing.
- Self-expression through visual arts, music, movement, and dramatic play.

Work program of education in kindergarten
At the section we will consider the recommendations of the authors of programs and manuals on the creation and effective implementation of a work program of education in a preschool educational organization, on the integration of the content of the work program of education and the main educational program. Let’s discuss the traditions and rituals of the kindergarten, which have a huge educational potential. Let’s talk about the experience of preschool organizations that have developed working programs for education. We will be able to answer the questions of practitioners on the creation of currently relevant local acts of the ECE.
Program of the section:
13:20-13:30 Opening remarks to the work of the section
13:30-13:55 Educational program of the PEP “Rainbow”
today, the optimal choice for a preschool educational institution, regardless of the level of material security, territorial location and mode of operation? What kind of support do the Prosveshcheniye publishing house and the authors of the program systematically provide to teachers working under this program?
13:55 – 14:20 Educational potential of the kindergarten educational program. Experience under the Rainbow program
To create an effective and efficient educational program in kindergarten based on socio-cultural, spiritual and moral values and aimed at creating conditions for self-determination and socialization of each child, teachers need an effective and easy-to-use tool. For our institution, this is the Exemplary Educational Program for Preschool Education “Rainbow”. It contains author’s technologies and methods that form the child’s feelings of patriotism, citizenship, respect for people. In our kindergarten, programs of environmental education, patriotic education are successfully implemented, the regional component is also important for us, and the Rainbow Program helps to combine all tasks into one educational system. We are happy to share our experience in this area.
14:20-14:45 The educational program of the PEP “The World of Discoveries”
The content of the educational program of preschool education initially included a set of educational tasks aimed at educating the personality of the child through the formation of his activity and the development of consciousness, through the accumulation by the child of the experience of joint activities and communication. The layout of the working education program developed on the basis of the World of Discoveries program will be presented by Olga Vladimirovna Berezhnova, one of the authors of the program, the author of the layout of the main educational program based on the World of Discoveries. The layout presents an integrated approach to the organization of the education of preschool children in the unity of the meaningful, emotionally motivating and activity component.
14:45-15:10 The educational component of the pedagogical process in the comprehensive educational program “World of Discoveries” (on the example of civil-patriotic education )
the personal qualities of the child are independence and responsibility, curiosity and activity in the knowledge of the world around, initiative and goodwill. Educational tasks are solved in conjunction with teaching and developing. How do teachers develop the child’s experience and educate his personality? Teachers implementing the World of Discovery program will talk about this.
