I like the coop experience. For kids start to separate from the parents, this is a mild way that doesn’t need worry about hearing kids crying for hours and having nightmares’. Helping them getting familiar withschool, teacher, friends and routines before leaving them would definitely be a good start for separation. The teacher are nice and there are a lot of activities. There is no mandatory activities, the teacher would let the kids sit or walk free so they won’t feel they were forced to do something.

My daughter attended Building Kidz of South San Francisco from when she was 7 months old until just a couple of weeks ago, she’s now 2.5 years old. Our son (6 months) also started daycare there at 4 months. We had a wonderful experience with Building Kidz of SSF. The teachers are great. All of the teachers, even the ones that were not instructors of their classes, knew their names.
It is an incredibly friendly and warm environment. Both my husband and I work full time so to find a daycare/preschool that we could trust our children with was a huge win for us. We would have continued to keep them at this school, however, we just moved to San Carlos. We actually transferred my son to the Building Kidz San Mateo location because of our positive experience. Thank you to the entire staff at SSF for making our daughter and son’s time there so wonderful.

Our son went to Building Kidz SSF from age 11-18 months and we were super happy with our experience. From day 1 the teachers all knew our baby by name and seemed to really care. Our boy would go happily into day care every single day, no tears, and in fact would excitedly say their names in happy anticipation when getting ready in the morning.
I loved the app they use for keeping us in the loop every day on what he was up to/ how his meals and naps went – the messaging function was a really quick and easy way to communicate with staff.
COVID protocols have adapted over the months, and have helped us feel safe sending our baby there.
Overall we have been so glad we chose Building Kidz SSF and highly recommend to to anyone looking for care. We are so sad we have moved away and lost this great local resource!

Leaving your baby in the hands of anyone besides your own parents, well… we haven’t even done that yet, but we will Mom I promise!! They have provided great care to our 6 month old and to us by always responding to our questions through their app and keeping us informed on when he’s sleeping/ eating/ and pooping , which makes us feel that we are actually there! Can’t be any happier with them and their service! Strict COVID precautions are also nice to see. Temperature checks, masks for all providers… I feel safe leaving my most prized possession with them!

My daughter loves coming here.
They do so much for the kids and Teacher Anna Sheafe is great! She really makes the effort to keep her students clean and tidy, I can tell because whenever I pick up my daughter, she is just the way I left her. Most places let the kids get dirty and run around with their hair all over their faces and covered in snots, they have their jackets on at a 80 degrees weather, not here! Its the little “mommy” things that matter and teacher Anna makes sure your kids are taken care of. Its a good home, away from home for your little preschooler. I am happy my daughter is with teacher Anna.

When the journey is long, you, my reader and I get tired of following the topic. Two years have passed since the beginning of this journey, and then, in 2012, we had two springs. We still had to meet spring in Australia, because we have it in September, but I decided to capture the usual spring for everyone in April for myself at Golden Gate Park . After all, this is San Francisco (San Francisco) !
The 26th day of our trip, April 18, Wednesday
The day started as usual, at dawn at Golden Gate Bridge . We had breakfast at Bay Watch (2150 Lombard St, San Francisco, CA 94123, United States). This place is open from 7 am. We just walked along the street where our hotel was located and looked for a working cafe. The menu and prices were tolerable ($55 for three), but there was no WiFi.
After the guys decided to have a rest at the hotel, I wanted to go to Golden Gate Park , namely Japanese Tea Garden . After all, when we talk about spring, the association with cherry blossoms in Japan comes as a stereotype.
Ilya took me to the park, namely to the corner of Fulton and 10th Ave. The most convenient place to walk to the tea garden.

Not far from the entrance was a grove of cherry blossoms.

Following the hiking trails, I came to Stow Lake , a small artificial lake made in 1893. In the center of the lake is Strawberry or Strawberry Hill, from which the artificially made Huntington Falls flows into the lake, and on the bank of the hill there is a Chinese gazebo. The waterfall got its name in honor of the railroad magnate Collis Huntington, who paid for the creation of both the lake and the waterfall.
Moon Viewing Pavilion , the name given to the Chinese gazebo, is a gift from one of San Francisco’s many sister cities, Taiwan’s Taipei.

Golden Gate Park is considered the largest in San Francisco, its area is more than four hundred hectares and its territory extends from the city center to the ocean. This is a real miracle of landscape design. It was founded in the nineteenth century, and today it is considered one of the most famous parks in the world.

And so, a little east of Stow Lake is located Japanese Tea Garden (Japanese Tea Garden) or you can also meet the name Garden Hagiwara Tea (Hagiwara Tea Garden) ) , in honor of the creator of the garden.

The garden was originally called the “Japanese Village” and was built specifically for the 1894 California International Winter Exposition.
And after her, the Japanese landscape designer Makoto Hagiwara (Makoto Hagiwara / 萩原) proposed to turn the exhibit into a park, to leave it to posterity. The construction of the garden began in 1894, and it is still being modified. Landscape designer Makoto Hagiwara was the caretaker of the garden for many years (until his death in 1925). He ordered a thousand cherry blossoms from Japan, as well as other native plants, birds, and goldfish.
The Japanese Tea Garden is the oldest public Japanese garden in the United States.
The descendants of Hagiwara took care of the Japanese tea garden until the outbreak of World War II. In 1942, his family was forced to leave their home, along with 120,000 Japanese Americans, and moved to an internment camp under President Roosevelt’s Emergency Executive Order 9066. The garden itself was renamed the Oriental Tea Garden (“Oriental Tea Garden”), and then completely ignored.
Many of the garden structures were destroyed or moved from their original location. Without care, the garden turned into ruins. When the war ended, the Hagiwara family was no longer allowed to return to their home in the tea garden.

In 1949 in 1949, S&G GUMP Company presented the Garden of a large bronze Buddha, cast in Tajim (Japan) in 1790 . In 1952, the park was returned to its former name Japanese Tea Garden, and since 1953, landscape designer Nagao Sakurai has embodied his ideas here. So he created a zen garden, which is a modern version of “kare-sansui” (a dry garden that imitates landscapes – for example, a miniature mountain with a stone waterfall and a small island in the middle of a river made of pebbles). At the same time, the Lantern of Peace (weighing 4100 kg) was brought here, bought with money collected by Japanese children and on their behalf – as a sign of friendship for future generations.

Is it easy to be gay in San Francisco? | The world around us
According to my interlocutor, the definition of queer depends on the ideas of the person who is queer. For example, a person whose sexual orientation or gender does not match the narrow boundaries of heterosexuality. Queer includes everyone excluded by society – lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender people, their allies and all other non-heterosexuals.
Bisexual implies that there are only two genders, but there is no limit to the number of genders.
What would a person whose gender is constantly changing call themselves? Whose gender is mobile, non-static? Gender queer. The word “queer” has no static boundaries and is therefore radical. Includes anyone who wants to call themselves queer. You can be gay and queer, lesbian and queer, or gay and queer, lesbian and queer. It is even possible to be “traditional” in gender, orientation in everyday life, and be politically queer. Queer used to be a derogatory term for LGBT (Lesbian-Gay-Bisexual-Transgender) people. Now it is a radical and political word.
The LGBT movement is taking steps forward. But not all people embrace queer diversity. Queer people often have other radical political views as well. For example, “queer radicals” are queer anarchists. They often do not support the movement for same-sex marriage, as they are against marriage in general (but this is a political opinion – does not mean that they somehow interfere with this activism).
In California, in 2008, the State Superior Court ruled that the ban on same-sex marriage violated the constitutional rights of state citizens. Same-sex marriage became legal. That same year, right-wing groups organized as Initiative 8 to change the California constitution to define marriage as a different-sex union (it used to just be spelled “marriage,” without defining what it was). 52% of citizens voted “yes”, and same-sex marriages became illegal again. After that, several same-sex couples went to court in nine states (district 9), claiming that Initiative 8 violates the US Constitution. The High Court must decide whether the Constitution guarantees the right to same-sex marriage. And this decision will be the last.
Today same-sex marriages are registered in five states and recognized in three more.
At the federal level, they are trying to pass a law that will protect all LGBT people from discrimination at work (Employment Non-Discrimination Act – ENDA). In 2007, they could have passed the law if they had not sought rights for transgender people in it, but most activists and organizations decided that solidarity was very important and refused to support ENDA without protecting the rights of transgender people.
There are many mainstream activist organizations. The largest is the Human Rights Campaign. However, it was they who supported ENDA without transgender people in 2007. Queer and transgender people organized protests against them.
But there are other groups. One of them is a very radical group called Gay Shame. They are against the assimilation of LGBT and queer people into mainstream society because it is full of racism, capitalism, exploitation and so on.
Many in the group are anarchists and are engaged in direct action. This is a protest against power and discrimination in society. There is also the Pride at Work group, which organizes LGBT and queer workers.
When I asked what pronoun queer people use when they talk about themselves, whether they say “she”, “he”, the interviewee answered that everyone chooses a pronoun that suits him. People can choose between the traditional pronouns he and she. Or they might come up with something new, like ze and hir. The interlocutor preferred the pronoun they. When meeting queer people in San Francisco, it’s customary to ask what pronouns they prefer.
Then we talked about the rainbow-flagged area of San Francisco, the Castro gay area. It used to be more radical, now mainstream gays live there, that is, white, wealthy gay men with racial and economic privilege.
Radical queer people view the area with doubt or disgust. But this area is important – there are few similar ones in America, especially such popular and developed ones. Tourists love it very much. If Castro used to be a center of gay activism, now it is more of a center for gay consumerism. Capitalism co-opted him. Castro is similar to other bourgeois districts of the city, only half of the inhabitants are gay.
In the Castro area there is a Community Center for all LGBT people. There are support groups for young people, all sorts of events, concerts, health care programs, a kindergarten for LGBT families, an art gallery for LGBT people, an annual film festival, job search programs for LGBT people, etc. In Berkeley there is also a center, but it is much smaller.
Despite educational efforts, discrimination persists in California.
There are teachers, professors, doctors, policemen and just people who are against LGBT people. But this is not accepted and is considered immoral, low, inadequate behavior among cultured people.
Berkeley also has a legendary clinic for the poor, which traces its history back to the hippie riots and the Battle of People’s Park. The Berkeley Clinic provides free medical services to everyone who needs them, an ethno-collective works there. Moreover, everyone who does something there does not work for money, but because they want to help people. Students, the poor, the homeless, drug addicts turn to this clinic. They are provided with medical services there, many of them are preventive, they are vaccinated at the clinic, they are tested for diseases, mainly for sexually transmitted diseases. The clinic exists on donations from individuals, a small amount of money is paid from the state of California.
There are many gay clubs and galleries in San Francisco where many events take place. Especially during the month of pride – everything is just related to LGBT everywhere. The whole city goes to the parade, which lasts three days in a row.
In San Francisco, Pride is the city’s most important holiday tradition. The city’s big celebration, where everyone comes, leftist groups, LGBT people from the area, from the city, from California and in general from all over the country participate. There are many LGBT allies present there. And in general, people who are simply pleased and interested in coming to a big holiday in the city. The pride lasts three days. And every day is dedicated to one group. Friday is transgender day. A lot of people – transgender people and their allies – gather in the park.
There is a concert, different people sing songs related to the rights, LGBT singers perform, songs and speeches related to the rights of transgender people are heard. And then they march through the streets.
When I asked what helps Americans overcome xenophobia, my interlocutor replied that it is necessary to communicate with different people. This helps to understand that all people are first of all alike, and no one should suffer from discrimination. You need to connect with people who are racially and economically different from you. This way you can better feel such concepts as “racism”, “poverty”, “sexism”, “transphobia” – this stops being just words and allows you not to succumb to social stereotypes that support oppression, helps to overcome ignorance and ignorance.

Aircraft carrier USS Midway

Point Loma

Cabrillo National Monument

Mission San Diego de Alcala
The church was founded in 1769 by a monk from Spain, Unipero Serra. By 1862 it was already in ruins. The sluggish restoration of the temple continued until the 1930s.
