Luis Alderete-Martinez found or missing: where is Regina Martinez now? Refresh

The disappearance of Luis Alderete-Martinez from his hometown of El Paso has been one of the most mysterious cases that Texas authorities have faced in recent times. At the time of his disappearance, he was only three years old, and his father, Luis Aragon-Alderete, mentioned that he last saw his son when he took the baby to kindergarten. Although Luis’ mother, Regina Martinez, claimed to have picked him up from vacation, they went missing shortly after, prompting a large-scale police investigation. Let’s dive into the details of his disappearance and find out if he was found, shall we?

What happened to Luis Alderete Martinez?

The father of Luis Alderete-Martinez, Aragon-Alderete, met his mother Rehina Martinez in 2010. Although the latter is originally from Chihuahua, Mexico, she married Aragon-Alderete and settled in El Paso, Texas. Over time, the couple had a son, Louis, but problems soon crept into their relationship. With no end in sight, Aragon-Alderete and Regina eventually decided to divorce, finalized in 2014, with a judge giving Luis’ father primary custody.

Naturally, Regina was unhappy with the custody decision, but she was allowed to see Luis from time to time and spend time with him. However, until June 1, 2015, everything was going smoothly for the little one, and people who knew him described him as an agile little boy who loved toy trains and ice cream. In June 2015, Luis was just three years old and attending a preschool in El Paso.

On the morning of June 1, Aragon-Alderete drove his son to school, not knowing that this would be the last time he would see his little boy. Reports state that Regina was supposed to pick Luis up from school that day, as she planned to take him on a short break. Although Aragon-Alderete didn’t think much about the vacation, he became increasingly worried when he didn’t get a notice from his ex-wife. The former had no idea where Louis was, and repeated phone calls and text messages to Regina’s number went unanswered.

However, he realized that his ex-wife did not want to talk to him and left the matter alone, waiting for his son to return. However, once the day of Luis’ planned return passed, Aragon-Alderete realized that something was wrong. He knew that his ex-wife was unhappy with the custody situation, and, unable to contact her, he was forced to contact the authorities and report his son missing.

Luis Alderete Martinez found or missing?

Luis Alderete-Martinez is still missing today, although his father, Aragon-Alderete, is confident that he will meet his son again. As soon as law enforcement became involved in the investigation, they organized large search parties along with local volunteers and combed the areas where Regina could lead Luis. The police even questioned several of her acquaintances, but no one knew that she was planning the alleged kidnapping.

In addition, the authorities wasted no time printing missing child posters and putting them up all over the city, hoping to get an important lead. However, due to the lack of witnesses or evidence on which to base the investigation, the case remained stagnant for some time. What’s more, with no updates even in 2020, authorities have set up 11 digital billboards across Texas that will feature a photo of Luis as he ages and urge the public to come forward with any information they may have.

Where is Regina Martinez today?

On February 18, 2016, authorities issued an arrest warrant for Regina Martinez and charged her with kidnapping on one count. The warrant gave her fugitive status and declared her a wanted man in the United States. In November 2016, Regina was also included in El Paso’s most wanted list. However, she continues to evade law enforcement, and Aragon-Alderete believes his ex-wife has returned to her native Mexico, specifically Chihuahua, along with Luis.

Over the years, Aragon-Alderete has been asking US authorities, including the El Paso Police Department and the El Paso County Attorney’s Office, to expedite the investigation. Moreover, as soon as he realized that Regina could return to Mexico, he even tried to hire a private detective and a lawyer in a foreign country, but to no avail. She continues to evade arrest, and with the warrant still active against her, she remains on the run in the United States.

However, the police still consider the case an active investigation and are confident that they can get Luis safely home to his father. On the other hand, Aragon-Alderete has entered into a new relationship and is currently sharing a one-year-old with his new partner, the mother of an eight-year-old.
