Poems by Oryol authors about the city of Oryol | Book:

    POEMS ABOUT THE OREL

    Vasily Katanov

    ORLOVSCHINA

Oryol land lies on the map –
And pulls again to roads and bridges.
I will go in lyrical passion
    To dear and memorable places.
    In the land of Turgenev,
    In the homeland of Leskov,
In the garden where the nightingales sang Feta,
The time-tested word thunders for centuries
About courage, about glory, about love.

    Late clear autumn,
    Going around the borders,
From the peasants Ivan the Terrible
    Heard about the bird everywhere.
“A fortress will rise,” he said,
In honor of the eagle over the Okoyu.
The city will stand guard over
    Peace and quiet.
    And the gray-haired legend
    Turned into reality:
Again the Eagle over the Eye
    Spread its wings.

Oryol Territory, open spaces of the field,
    Motherland forever.
As the daughter of a great mother – Russia.
She lives with her in one breath.
    Life is raging
    Eye in a big flood
On all roads of our side
    From Bolkhov epic to Liven,
From Long to Mtsensk and Kolpna.

    My land,
    And suddenly – guns again
Rumble over the Oka here and there,
And Gurtiev falls with a broken chest,
    Without hearing the first –
In honor of the Eagle! -Salute.

    Tatyana GRIBANOVA

    ***

    Fresh straw,
Snot is silver in the frost.
Maples like a flame near the house.
    Autumn… Oryol autumn…

    Turgenev Land and Fet
    Known far and wide.
    Warmly praised by poets
    Its capital is Bezhin meadow.

You will not find in the whole world
    Such forests, such fields,
    Such a bottomless blue expanse
With the farewell cry of cranes,

    Orlik’s waters are calm,
    cold and green.
    Swamp spirit, coniferous smell,
    waiting for the moon.

    Trees rustle in the night,
reeds in the water up to the chest.
The city is dormant. Sleeping village.
    The Milky Way floats by…

On the Oka River and on Orlik
The city of my destiny has grown.
    Its lanes and courtyards
Are blue in the morning light.

I love it when the first tram chimes
    And its sound, slowly melting,
It flies over the sleepy city, trembling,
And the sky brightens. It’s getting light.

Russia! Your beauty is a mystery.
    In the gilded light
    Above the Eye merge
    Winds of Forest and Steppe.
It’s getting dark here for a long time.
And you can see better from the road,
    How Russia merges
    With the skies above it.

Dawn reveals the silhouette of the city.
I watch how Orlik merges with Oka.
And signs of a fine long day
Timid freshness keep me on Strelka.

Who dreams of the Baikal fairy tale,
    by the Valdai Lakes,
And I would be the road to Spasskoye
    and Novosilsky expanse,

    Pushkar old courtyards,
    Turgenevsky Berezhok,
The shy of the quiet Orlik,
    on the basket –

    birch …

I’ll look at the Eagle from the window:
    There, towering, it floats
Captive in cumulus clouds0011 Golden-domed bellflower.

Take a bun and go to Orlik,
And feed the frozen ducks there,
And watch how the janitor sweeps
The rest of the day off the sidewalk.

Feeling the freshness of the whole body,
    Cross the footbridge,
    There, in an open palm,
    City holds a large stele.

    Unintentionally experience pride
Before the majesty of the obelisk.
    And feel – this city
Became my family and friends for a long time.

    Far above the Russian plain
I can see the wingspan of an eagle –
    This is my poplar city
    Reflected in the domes.
    Turgenev’s house, Leskov’s house –
    Along the coastline
I hear the echo of the imperishable word,
I see the cross of centuries of memory.

The night will leave like a frightened she-wolf,

Will disappear somewhere beyond the Eye.

Morning is knocking at the Kalitins’ House,

It’s coming through the palaces of Botany.

    Whatever the old house,

    That legend,

Names that stepped into the centuries.

And a great history of breath

Eternal call of the soul from afar.

There the future polar explorer Rusanov,

There Fatyanov is a song poet.

Fet and Tyutchev from the ancient barrow

    Looking into the distance,

    How the dawn spreads.

I will stand at the beginning of the Eagle –

At the bridge, at the water, at the pier.
Two rivers – two eagle’s wings:
I’ve been seasick in the old days.

    I love the great city
    Named Oryol.
    Visible by factories
    And inspired by glory..
The wind is making noise in the chestnut trees.
    Tram chime.
    Trolleybus drones.
    Lights. Flowers. Spring
And between the rivers fell asleep
    Gray-haired old.

    Antiquity is at hand:
    Noise, like many years ago,
    Over the majestic Eye
    Orlovsky Schroeder garden.
    Benches of a strict boulevard.
    Chestnuts in bloom. Gray oak.
    Ancient waltz. Couples are spinning.
    Young Turgenev is coming.

    Church of the Archangel Michael,
And at a distance Basil the Great.
    Sunday morning ringing,
Late in the evening – moonlight.
Lilacs are raging in the police gardens —

It’s good to stand by the lilacs…
    Leonida Andreev’s shadow,
    Leonida Afonin’s shadow —
    Dear Oryol’s shadows.

    Let’s go to my land,
To the fields, to the meadows of the Oryol region,
I have never met a better land anywhere.
    I’m here on “you”
    With any stream and grove,
    Here for me
    The beginning of all beginnings.

You hear the echoes of songs.
Happiness in your hands – collect.
    I love you, Orlovsky,
    Legendary, Russian land!

Ancestors lived – they did not grieve:
    And they built the Eagle.
    And heroism deserved
    Eternal glory halo!

And in the spring of the Eye, moving away from sleep,
Rushing to the ravine in violent force.
In this city, all of Russia is visible to me
Because it is in the heart of Russia.

Two rivers – Oka and Orlik,

    And Turgenev and Leskov,

This is all Orel – my city,

The city of songs and poems.

    This city is my home.

The eagle is beautiful, it is big.

In summer it is buried in greenery,

And in winter it is shrouded in snow.

At the confluence of two rivers was born

My city, which was called the Eagle.

Here he became an outpost on the border

    To protect Russia from enemies.

In the very heart of mother Russia:
At the confluence of the Oka and Orlik rivers,
    Beautiful in name and appearance,
The city is a bird, a worker and a stoic.

From ancient times he protected Russia
From the threat of enemy invasions.
    On its shores
There were many victories and disasters.

The city with a proud title – Eagle,
    Sung in songs and legends,
    The city that gained immortality
As a land of thinkers, poets.

Surprising the whole world with this
    For almost five centuries now
He stands, spreading along and in breadth
The wings of the streets, like an eagle on the rise.

    Aimed at the coming centuries,
All the Oryol people believe in it sacredly,
So that it doesn’t happen, for sure
Will forever be in undying glory.

His two rivers are like two arms,
    Wings to serve Russia…
The Motherland will soar like an eagle,
The Russian spirit will rise with renewed vigor.

    There were explosions near Orel.

    Bullets and shells were flying.

    And bumping into obstacles,

    Our tanks went ahead.

    Explosions thundered over the Oka.

    And people remember that battle,

    Because for your liberation

Fireworks are thundering over the Eagle.

And the stars in the sky fade.

    The Eagle celebrates today

    Its victory over the enemy.

Fireworks are thundering over the Oka.

    And they reopen old wounds

    Bow to you low, veterans,

You saved our native home people,

It is this segment of a person’s life that is most favorable for the emotional and psychological impact on the child, since his images are very bright and strong, and therefore they remain in memory for a long time, and sometimes for life, which is very important in the education of patriotism.

Orel is famous for its many sights. One of them is the Cathedral of the Epiphany. The temple, built in the 40s of the 17th century, is considered the oldest stone building in the city. Initially, the church Orthodox shrine belonged to the Epiphany Monastery, which was abolished in 1680. Until today, in the Epiphany Cathedral, located in the central part of Orel, on the river bank, ancient icons have been preserved, which are credited with miraculous properties. The temple is located on the square of the same name – Epiphany.

Going on a tour of Orel, you can not ignore the Assumption Monastery, which is of great interest to tourists. Previously, on the vast monastic territory there was a bishop’s house with many buildings of various types and purposes. Unfortunately, only the two-domed Trinity Church-tomb has survived to this day. It was erected within 2 years, in the period from 1843 to 1845. The initiator of the construction was the local governor Kochubey. The shrine was conceived as a memorial church, next to which the relatives of the manager were laid to rest – mother, wife and two sons. Unfortunately, today nothing remains of the graves, but the church still exists. At the beginning of the 21st century, a beautiful chapel was built next to it and named after Alexander Nevsky. Directly below it is a well with the purest artesian water. Its depth is 148 m. Well water is consecrated, anyone can taste it.

Another notable Orthodox cloister is located in the city – the Vvedensky Convent. The old building was empty in 1923 and gradually collapsed over a long 70 years. In the early 90s of the 20th century, the city authorities decided to restore the shrine. Restoration work is ongoing to this day. One of the main assets of the monastery is the list of the Balykinskaya Icon of the Mother of God. This list, endowed with miraculous properties, was presented as a gift to the monastery by St. John of Tobolsk back in 1712.

If we talk about the mundane sights of the city, then there are no less of them. Extremely interesting are the Trade Rows dating back to the 18th century. The building, stretching for a whole block, has a sad history. Shortly after its construction, it was badly damaged by fire. The malls burned out almost completely, but, fortunately, they were restored in the middle of the 19th century.

In the 60s of the 20th century, a commemorative memorial dedicated to the anniversary date – the 400th anniversary of the founding of the city appeared on the territory of Orel. Compositionally, this monument is a huge obelisk made of granite, stretching up to 27 meters. Various dates directly related to the history of the Eagle are engraved on its surface. It is known that under the obelisk its founders bricked up a letter addressed to future generations of the 21st century. By the way, the memorial is located directly at the confluence of Orlik and Oka.

Guests of the city are genuinely interested in the tourist complex “Grinn”, on the territory of which and next to it there are a large number of sculptural and architectural monuments, both ancient and modern. One of the sights is the cafe “Boyarskoe”, stylized as antique. Not far from it is a museum complex, the exposition of which tells about the history of the construction and development of the Eagle from its origins to the present day.

Another place that guests of Orel should definitely visit is the Noble Nest. The magnificent green square is geographically located on the left bank of Orlik. According to legend, in this landscape area there was once an old manor, which the famous writer I. S. Turgenev described in the work of the same name. On the very outskirts of the square, a beautiful wooden gazebo, nicknamed “Turgenevskaya”, was erected. A marble bust of the writer was placed next to it and a comfortable observation deck was equipped.

The city of Orel has a large number of museums – as many as ten, while 6 of them are dedicated to Russian literature and famous writers and poets of different eras, whose lives were somehow connected with the Oryol province. Thus, Orel is a real paradise for connoisseurs of Russian classics.

You can have a calm and useful rest by visiting local theaters or walking through charming parks and squares. From one of these parks called “Oryol Polesie” is literally breathtaking! On the most beautiful territory of several hectares, a huge number of representatives of the fauna live almost in natural, natural conditions. Luxurious enclosures have been built for animals and birds, the size of which allows the inhabitants to feel free.
