Summer afternoon—summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language.

Henry James

I absolutely agree – there is nothing as ideal as a summer afternoon!

That doesn’t mean that summer isn’t without its challenges. You’re busy enough without having the added extra of needing to come up with weekly themes and to plan lessons and activities for your kids! That’s where summer preschool themes come to the rescue.

We’ve put together a list of summer-themed ideas to help you get started with lesson planning. These lessons all focus on summer-based themes, including:

  • Beach and Seashells Theme
  • Bubbles Theme
  • Camping Theme
  • Fruits and Vegetables Theme
  • Ice Cream Theme
  • Mindfulness and Yoga Theme
  • Ocean Theme
  • Picnics Theme
  • Sharks Theme

I’ve made a free printable preschool theme list to help with all your planning!

All About Me Theme

Summertime is a great time to explore personal interests and learn more about each other! Children can learn about their own features and attributes, as well as their community. This is an easy place to incorporate name recognition and activities, such as tactile name writing practice or this simple craft.

Grab the free All About Me poster below to guide your preschoolers as they share how truly unique they are!

Check out the All About Me lesson plans for either toddlers or preschoolers in our preschool store or toddler store!

Around The World Theme

Learning about new places is a great theme for summertime. Preschoolers love to share their travels and the places they have visited. This theme lends itself to learning about new, faraway places and discovering all the features of a map! The book Me on the Map is perfect for helping preschoolers see where they live on a map, and check out this me on the map craft!

Travel to our store and grab the Around the World lesson plan for extra ideas!

Beach and Seashells Theme

If you’re lucky enough to live in a coastal area, this is a perfect opportunity for a field trip! Otherwise, you can make a sensory play recipe that feels just like beach sand. Talk about the unique creatures and the different textures. Also a great time for an ocean creature sensory bottle! While you’re studying about the beach, why not explore seashells as well? This is also a great opportunity for kids to learn about how seashells are formed and what animals live in seashells, along with the different types and colors of seashells. This alone is a fun theme but the tie-in options are endless!

Get a whole beach lesson plan from Preschool Teacher 101 to make your theme a splash! Or looking for more shell ideas? Preschool Teacher 101 has you covered with an entire seashell lesson plan!

Bubbles Theme

Is there anything more magical than bubbles? Summer is a great time to explore and to play with bubbles as much as possible. Blow with them, paint with them, put them in the sensory table, and more. Every preschooler loves bubbles! Make a kitchen sink bubble explosion for a themed sensory science experiment.

Get an entire bubbles lesson plan from Preschool Teacher 101.

Bugs, Bees, and Butterflies Theme

Summer is a busy time for our insect friends. Our pollinators are especially busy this time of year. You can break this summer preschool theme out into several weeks, or do a quick overview of different types of bugs.

Bees are one of the hardest workers on the planet who have a very important job. This torn paper flower craft is an easy tie-in as you talk about these busy helpers. You can also learn about pollination and patterns. Maybe you can even spot some busy bees near your home!

Don’t stop at just bees…learn about other bugs and insects and learn about their similarities and differences. You can dazzle your students with interesting animal facts about ladybugs, butterflies, and spiders.

For some beginning math practice with a butterfly theme, check out the butterfly ten frame counting mats in our store! Use them to teach children to count up to 20 and to learn number sense. Ten frame mats are a perfect way to teach subitizing, one-to-one correspondence, and cardinality.

Along with butterflies, we have counting mats themed for every holiday and season!

Buzz over to our store for our bugs and butterflies unit lesson plan for even more ideas!

Camping Theme

Summertime is the perfect time to go camping, explore outdoors, and experience nature. However, camping can be just as fun indoors! Building an indoor tent might be just the thing for a rainy afternoon. Set up a sleeping area or make indoor s’mores! This is a great reason to pull out the flashlights and to talk about spending the night in nature. Our friends at Fun-A-Day have a ton of great learning activity ideas for a camping theme!

Check out Preschool Teacher 101 for camping lesson plans.

Farm Theme

Preschoolers love the farm! Preschoolers love learning about farm animals, how plants grow, and getting up close to big farm equipment. Use farm animals to learn with these fun ten frames! Enjoy hot summer days feeding animals and reading about them in our farm book list. And don’t miss our fun list of farm songs, perfect for circle time!

Moo-ve over to our store for an entire farm themed lesson plan.

Flowers and Trees Theme

Get children excited about flowers, plants, and what plants need to grow with a preschool flower theme. Learn about local flowers and trees, plant seeds, and watch them grow! Use cupcake liners to make an easy flower craft. This theme has endless ideas and is a big hit with preschoolers!

Jump over to our store for an entire flowers and trees themed lesson plan.

Fruits and Vegetables Theme

Want a preschool theme that’s more than just apples? Talk about all the fruits and vegetables! What makes them different, how to grow them, how they taste, and why they are good for us!. This is a great time of year to put in a summer garden and explore yummy summer vegetables.

The talented teachers over at Preschool Teacher 101 have put together this amazing vegetable lesson plan!

Ice Cream Theme

Ice cream is a kid favorite so using it as a preschool summer theme is a fantastically sweet idea! Have you tried this 3-ingredient ice cream scented bubble recipe? We especially love this ice cream writing tray!

For some sweet math practice with an ice cream theme, check out the ice cream counting mats in our store! Use them to teach children to count up to 20 and to learn number sense. Ten frame mats are a perfect way to teach subitizing, one-to-one correspondence, and cardinality.

Along with ice cream, we have counting mats themed for every holiday and season!

Eat up some more delicious ideas in this ice cream themed lesson plan from our friends at Preschool Teacher 101.

Mindfulness Theme

Learning to be mindful is an important skill for preschoolers. Since summer is in full swing, take this chance to get out of the heat and head indoors to do some calming, cooling, mindful exercises. This is a perfect theme for introducing yoga, whether through yoga books, kid yoga videos, or printable yoga cards and posters. Incorporate brain breaks to help relax or rejuvenate. Mindfulness can even be used outdoors!

If you’ve already got the FREE animal yoga pack and still want more, you can grab these yoga cards in our store!

Ocean Theme

This is one of the most popular summer preschool themes. An ocean theme is so much fun! Learn about unique ocean creatures like sea stars, discover unique shells, explore an ocean-themed sensory bin, and more.  Or check out our full list of ocean books for kids! You can also tie this into your moon theme by discussing tides, currents, and other ocean phenomena. Study this theme individually or combine the ocean theme with the sharks, beach, and seashells theme.

If you need more ocean ideas, we have a sea of ideas in this ocean lesson plan in our store.

Picnics Theme

Everyone loves a picnic! There is something magical about eating somewhere new! Read this perfect book, Let’s Have a Picnic, and get creative as you set up a picnic with your preschoolers! Or bring your teddy bears along and enjoy The Teddy Bears’ Picnic! Bring in some fun music with The Ants Go Marching!

Rainbows & Weather Theme

Rainbows are so magical and with these wet summer storms, there’s a good chance you might catch a glimpse of one in the sky! Learning about rainbows is such a fun theme to explore. The supplemental activities are endless – science activities, fine motor practice, sensory play, discovery bottles, process art activities, sight words, crafts, and much more! Don’t miss listening to rainbows and colors songs while you learn. This theme transitions nicely to learning about the weather… and summer weather can be unpredictable and so exciting!

For a full weather lesson plan, check out our store.

Sharks Theme

There’s a whole week dedicated to sharks every year in July or August, which makes sharks one of the more popular summer preschool themes! What other animal has as many teeth as a shark? Practice counting high digit numbers by counting their teeth. Plus, it’s a great week to work on Baby Shark songs!

Space Theme

There are so many ways outer space can be a ‘blast’. Stars, moons, and planets are just some of the miraculous things you can teach kids about space. Make a night sky sensory bin for some themed sensory play! You can incorporate math by using these space-themed number writing practice cards, make a rocket ship out of a cardboard box, or doing constellation activities. On a clear night, look at the stars or see if there are any astrological events happening in your area, such as a meteor shower, eclipse, or blue moon. Or, show kids pictures and talk about life on the International Space Station!

If you’re in need of an entire space lesson plan, we’ve got you covered in our store.

Summer Theme

Focusing on summer as a whole season is another great theme option! Summer is full of fun – beaches, vacations, lemonade, and of course the POOL! Check out this pool noodle name recognition activity, or a whole list of pool noodle hacks and learning ideas. This is a great theme for the end of the traditional school year or during the summer months.

Jump over to our store and check out our whole summer theme lesson plan.

FAQ About a Summer Preschool Theme

What do you teach preschoolers during the summer?

A summer theme is perfect for learning about the ocean and all the amazing aspects of sea life. Picnics and camping are also great seasonal themes that encourage children to explore the outdoors. The farmer’s market is full of fresh fruit and vegetables so don’t forget to learn about healthy foods and eating habits!

How do I explain summer to a preschooler?

Children catch on quickly that summer is the hottest time of the year, and that the trees have lots of leaves and flowers are often still in bloom. Share that during the summer season the temperature stays warm, making it a great time of the year to swim, go to the beach or lake, and spend time outside.

What summer activities are appropriate for preschoolers?

Preschoolers love completing art projects, blowing bubbles, playing in water (or ice), exploring nature, playing outside games, drawing with sidewalk chalk, experimenting in the kitchen, and performing science experiments! No matter the activity, soak up the summer sun or even the rain with loads of our fun ideas! Even taking your usual preschool activities (like circle time) outside can be perfect for summer.

Keep your preschoolers learning with these educational learning activities for preschoolers.

Engaging Preschool Activities for a Summer Theme

Get ready for the sun with these fun summertime preschool theme ideas. Here are some popular hands-on activities to keep with your summer lesson plans.

Literacy Activities for a Summer Theme

Watermelon ABCs – Watermelon is the quintessential summer food! Kids love to eat it, and it’s even more fun to make playdough letters that look like watermelon! Using dried black beans and red playdough, get those little hands rolling and molding playdough into letters. Help your preschooler say the letter and make the letter sound. Build their watermelon name, then head into the kitchen for a tasty watermelon snack!

If you’re looking for an amazing homemake playdough recipe, this is our all time favorite!

Online Story – Go to YouTube and listen to the story I See Summer by Charles Ghigna. After listening, discuss what other types of things we might see in the summer. Cut three pieces of paper in half and staple them together to make a book. Invite your preschooler to draw their ideas on each page with the text “I see _____”, just like the story. Assist them as needed and let them write any sounds they hear on the page. Then re-read your new I See Summer book together.

Fantastic Summer-Themed Picture Books!

One of the best ways to enhance your preschool summer theme is by hand-selecting the highest quality picture books! This is a book list for our best-loved picture books for a summer theme, and it’s been approved by top preschool teachers in the nation!

Math and Science Activities for a Summer Theme

Ice Cream Counting Mats – Using pom-poms with these ice cream counting mats is the perfect way to work on counting and reinforcing number skills! Don’t have a printer? Just add pom-poms to a small bowl and pretend.

Lemonade One More/One Less – Using red/pink buttons or counters, help your preschooler master this important skill. Start by counting the middle glass of lemonade, then decide what is one more and one less and count that number out. Or use three real plastic cups and add buttons or counters to determine one more/one less.

Make Ice Cream in a Bag – It may sound challenging, but with the right ingredients this experiment is quite tasty and exciting! It doesn’t take long, the process is simple enough for a preschooler to do, and the results are worth the effort. Infuse some science by learning that the salt lowers the melting point of the ice, resulting in frozen milk (or cream)! Follow the directions step-by-step here for a cool and refreshing summer treat.

These summer activities for preschoolers will get your little one excited about kindergarten.

The BEST Summer-Themed Toys!

One of the best ways to teach preschoolers about any theme is by hand-selecting the right manipulatives and toys to pair with the theme. Here are some things I pull out every year for some extra fun in the sun.

Playful Learning Activities for a Summer Theme

Estimation Jars – Grab some measuring cups and some clear cups or bowls of different sizes and widths. Pour a cup of water into one of the cups. Ask your preschooler to describe how full it is, then pour a cup of water into one of the bowls. Why don’t they look the same? Use other materials like noodles, pom-poms, or dried rice to estimate and observe the differences in shallow cups or deep bowls.

Legos in a Kiddie Pool – Who says you have to build inside? Bring out some Legos and lounge in the sun while building a Lego masterpiece. Watch them float, build a floating vessel, or a water tower that rules the pool. Time to get creative!

Summer Smoothies – Invite your preschooler to make a refreshing summer smoothie with all of their favorite fruits and vegetables. Encourage them to assist in the kitchen by cutting up the fruits and adding in the liquids. Now’s the time to try new varieties of fresh or frozen fruits )and vegetables too)!

Make summer preschool extra memorable with these free preschool lesson plans.

Social-Emotional Learning for a Summer Theme

Tropical Island Memory Game – Memory games can be hard for little ones. They require concentration and focus as well as attention to detail and spatial awareness. Preschoolers can be hard on themselves when playing or give up easily. Using this tropical island game, encourage your preschooler to take a “picture” in their mind of where the card goes back if it’s not a match. Help them remember to pull up that picture in their mind when they’re trying to remember where that matching card is. Building this skill is great for perseverance as they get older and start to encounter academic and social challenges.

Working Together Makes Your Heart Happy – Go to YouTube and listen to the story Day at the Beach by Tom Booth. After listening, discuss with your preschooler about Gideon’s perseverance. After 6 attempts, many would give up! But Gideon kept on and finally found the perfect spot. And yet–after all that hard work–he seemed less excited than he thought he would be. Why? Sometimes having fun together is more important than perfection.

Just Plain Fun Activities for a Summer Theme

Camping Bingo Game – Everyone loves playing Bingo! This is a game that’s fun for everyone that you simply print and play. Camp outside as you play for a double dose of camping fun!

Summer Playdough Mats – Perfect for a playdough break, these mats are full of fun in the sun and have endless options. Ideal for a rainy day or a break from the heat, your preschoolers will love making playdough popsicles or toasted marshmallows!

Lemon Stamping – Save those lemons after you make lemonade! Once cut in half, dip the lemons in yellow paint and stamp on paper. Check out the cool details inside the lemon. Try new colors, too!

Ice/Water Play – Get cool on a hot day! Add ice to the water table or bucket and watch it melt. Use tongs and scoops, too! For color fun, dye the ice cubes with food dye and dump them into the table one color at a time. Watch as they melt. Time to add in a new color! What happens when you do?

These free lesson plans for preschoolers have more than 16 summer-themed activities.

Get Online Activities for a Summer Theme

Online Story – Go to YouTube and listen to the story The Watermelon Seed by Greg Pizzoli. After listening, discuss with your preschooler what happens to the crocodile. Do you think that a watermelon could really grow in your belly? Why or why not? Feel free to draw a picture of what you think happens to the crocodile now that he has swallowed another seed!

Mister Sun Song – Summer is all about sunshine and long summer days, so learn this snappy sun song! Warning: it just might get stuck in your head!

Summer Brain Break Song – Enjoy this song when your preschooler needs to get some wiggles out and move! Follow along with the dancers and the silly lyrics!

The Best Preschool Summer Theme Activities

As the temperature starts to go from mild to hot outside it can be fun to explore summer themes with your kids. Whether you are just looking for summer activities you can do from home, fun summer themes to explore during summer camp or year-round preschool, or a way to keep your kids entertained during the summer months, here are some fabulous resources for planning your preschool summer theme activities. Most of these activities are designed for kids ages 3 through 5, but many can be modified for younger and older kids as well.

WHY IT’S FUN

A summer theme gives your children a chance to explore a major seasonal change that brings hot summer days and fun-filled activities for your kids such as building sandcastles, water balloon fights, and learning about animals and plants that thrive in warmer climates. Whether you live in an area where there is a drastic change or not, kids enjoy being able to pretend and engage in common summer activities.

WHEN TO TEACH A SUMMER THEME

Summer arrives near the end of June in many areas here in the United States. However, it can start to feel like summer outside as early as May or early June. This is most often the time people choose to begin teaching summer themes. Others prefer to lump all of the seasons together into a unit and investigate the cycle of seasons so kids can make connections between the different seasons.

Fantastic Activities for a Preschool Camping Theme

Over the years, a preschool camping theme has consistently been a hit with the kids. I love that it’s a preschool (or kindergarten!) theme that can be used almost any time throughout the year. We tend to use it towards the end of the school year, or for a super fun summer camp for the kids.

Table of Contents

Preschool Camping Theme Ideas That Kids Love

Below you’ll find activities that I’ve tried with multiple groups of kids over the years. They have consistently been a hit with the children! I’ll add some other ideas on my “to try” list afterwards, too!

A Camping Treat

The kiddos LOVED this camp-out treat – s’mores on a stick was a definite hit! I have to admit, it made me giggle to see how enthusiastic the children were when it came to eating their s’mores.

Fishing at Camp

We did this as both an indoor activity in our sensory table and an outdoor activity in a kiddie pool.  Inside, we used fishing poles made with wooden dowels, magnets, and plastic string (along with foam fish with magnets on them).

Outside, we simple set it up with water and fish in a kiddie pool.  The fishing nets came from The Dollar Tree, and the fish were bath toys.

Painting with Marshmallows

I had way too much fun watching the children during this camp-themed process art activity! You can also use the marshmallows to paint letters, create patterns, and to stamp the kids’ names.

Building a Campfire

Obviously, we didn’t let the small children play with fire!  Really, if you met me, you wouldn’t want me playing with fire either.

In the building center, the students used long wooden blocks as the “logs”.  They got really inventive and chose fire-colored (orange, red, and yellow) small blocks to act as flames.  They also had the option of using some red, yellow, and orange tissue paper so the children could build “fires” in the home and block centers.

Tracking Animals

This activity began a bit differently than it ended up!  At first, we set out small plastic animals and stamp pads, so the children could make animal tracks.  The children had had magnifying glasses and print outs of tracks that different animals make.

Well, our kiddos grabbed the track papers and the magnifying glasses, then proceeded on a hunt for animals!  I loved watching their imaginative play!

Pet Rocks

Sometimes the simplest activities make the children the happiest!  Our pet rocks definitely fall into this category!

Camping Pretend Play

This was another  activity we did both inside and outside.  In our home center, we set up a small tent and laid out a few sleeping bags an flashlights.  During center time, the children pretended they were on a camping trip.

Outside, we had a larger tent set up.  There were also camp chairs, real logs, and pretend food from our home center.

Flashlight Reading

Despite the light pouring in from our classroom windows, the students still seemed to enjoy sitting and reading books with flashlights.

Putting a sheet of paper over the windows to create a darker environment for flashlight reading is also an option. Be sure to check out this list of the best books to read by flashlight!

Campfire Hand Prints

Hand print artwork makes me happy, and I like to do at least one a month during the school year.  Handprint and Footprint’s “Handprint Campfire” came out awesome! The children loved having these “campfires” in their end of the year portfolios.

More Preschool Camping Theme Ideas to Try

There are so many wonderful ideas out there to try with a camping theme, so it probably doesn’t surprise you that I haven’t had the chance to try all of them. Here are more ideas I’m keeping on hold for the next time we having a camping theme with the kids!

Set up a camping small world for the kids in the sensory center or literacy center. Just imagine all of the conversations and oral language development.

Have some parents donate firewood to build and play with outside.

Challenge the kids to make their own rock sculptures in the science center (or try it outside).

Make your own pretend play s’mores for the dramatic play center.

Before having some s’mores as a snack, why not have the kids try this s’mores STEM challenge?

If you want to do more with marshmallows, exploring them with the 5 senses would be a great science activity for the children.

Have the little campers make some animal track stamps to use during art.

Make sure to check out the list of preschool camping theme printables for some other fun activities and free printable resources!

Materials for a Camping Theme

Here are my product suggestions for a camping theme (I may get commissions for purchases made through links in this post):

* * *

Before taking on any of the plots, it is advisable to evaluate the resources available in the camp: will they allow you to fully implement the selected scenario? Of course, stories can be combined and combined. But most importantly, you can and should come up with scenarios on your own, because creativity is an important component of any successful holiday.

We wish you a bright summer!

Thematic sessions in the camp for schoolchildren

Let’s figure out what topic of the camp shift will be relevant in the new season and what will be required to organize it. Summer holidays for children should be interesting and exciting. Thematic shifts in the camp will help to achieve complete immersion in collective activities, team cohesion and a change of scenery after intense study.

Modern topical topics for 2022 will allow organizing high-quality recreation for children with creative development and acquiring new communication skills. Within the framework of the developed program, not only recreation can be planned, but also training in the form of a game.

The importance of the theme of the change in the camp for the child

Many children spend their holidays in the camps every year. In some cases, a child may attend children’s health, education or entertainment shifts several times a season. In this case, the student will quickly get tired of the monotonous program of 2020, 2021 and previous years, he will be reluctant to take part in social events, and may not be interested in a train to rest. Themes for summer shifts in the camp will help to solve this problem. When creating thematic camp shifts, you will achieve the following results:

  • organize the correct upbringing of the future generation;
  • distract children from school work and relieve stress;
  • organize interesting, useful for the development of children’s leisure;
  • give in-depth knowledge on a specific topic;
  • achieve team cohesion and awaken the team spirit.

The key to a good camp session is a well-thought-out program of activities for a certain age with enough free time to socialize. Children will learn to fantasize, invent, compete with other squads for the title of the best and learn to accept defeat. As a basis for the theme of changing the summer camp, you can take a universal direction that does not get old from year to year, or focus on topics popular among young people.

Popular summer camp topics

You can choose a camp topic based on information from the Internet or a survey of children. You can notify schoolchildren in advance about the future direction of the camp, tell about the name of the shift at a meeting of parents in order to attract the most interested children. For modern children, the topics of sports, space, fantastic heroes, ecology and patriotism are always relevant. As part of them, you can think of several summer camp shifts at once, which will differ from each other in terms of the content of the classes and will be of interest to schoolchildren who come to rest again.

Harry Potter

Currently, the Harry Potter theme camp will be at the peak of popularity, as children have again become interested in movies and books with a young wizard. Mass layouts are actively selling clothes with prints in this direction, games are being released and a fan society is being created, just like 10 years ago. The topic will be especially relevant for educational camps that teach foreign languages.
When preparing this direction, you can use the following areas of work with units:

• Send out letters of invitation to camp to all the children, using as an example the letter that young wizards received from Dumbledore. For it, you can use beautiful aged paper and calligraphic font;
• Squadding for children of the same age can be done in a testing format instead of a sorting hat;
• On the day of arrival at the camp, all children can be given themed T-shirts, shorts and other clothes in the theme of the camp for solemn rulers;
• camping days can be made into a fun journey of learning unusual skills (cooking instead of potions), chemical experiments, clues to ancient runes and other sciences;
• Quidditch-type sporting events must be included in the summer camp program. You can organize croquet, rounders, baseball and other activities that are not typical for ordinary schools;
• You can complete your shift by passing the OWL exams with the issuance of certificates or certificates of training in a real school of wizardry.

Ideas for organizing a good Harry Potter-style shift can be taken straight from the books. J. K. Rowling has given many ideas that can be implemented to entertain children.

Space

Thematic session in the format of space adventures will impress children of all ages. She will be interested in a child from junior and senior classes, an athlete, an activist and a quiet person from the back of the desk. Each day of the shift can be planned so that children can visit different planets, learn about the stars and travelers. The following activities can be taken as the basis of the lessons:

  • stay in space orbit, where the traveler’s ship will be located. You can conduct an initiation into astronauts, create teams based on knowledge, endurance and other qualities,
  • carrying out health-improving procedures in order to prepare for flights into space: exercises, hardening, moderate physical activity, team competitions in order to strengthen team cohesion and unity of children in difficult situations;
  • intellectual games and competitions aimed at gaining knowledge about one’s own planet Earth and other cosmic bodies;
  • You can complete your shift by receiving rewards for new discoveries or heroic deeds.

As part of space travel and space exploration, you can raise environmental issues, study the physical properties of light, air and other interesting issues. Such a theme will help expand the knowledge of the child and make schooling easier.

Superheroes

Society has always been interested in the theme of heroes and a fantastic direction, so the camp theme can be based on the heroes of the legendary Marvel comics and their fantastic universe. The name of the shift can be thought up based on the goal: saving the world, defeating enemies, learning new abilities, or gaining public speaking skills. As with organizing other topics, the following ideas can be used:

• each squad or child can choose an interesting character for themselves and determine for themselves the abilities that he will have;
• You can organize training for children in new professions that are associated with heroic deeds, give knowledge on how to behave in front of the public and not be shy in the spotlight;
• During the shift, unusual physical competitions, intellectual battles of characters with different abilities, creative talent contests and robotics will be interesting;
• at the end of the shift, you can issue certificates of passing the school of heroes.

The theme of heroes will be interesting for boys and girls of different ages. As part of it, you can develop the creative abilities of children, achieve their emancipation and unity with the team.

Ecological

The issue of ecology is acute all over the planet and many children begin to worry about it at a young age. You can spend a shift as part of caring for nature and gaining new knowledge on how to save the planet for future generations. The following activities can be organized for children:

  • study of the existing problems of the planet;
  • acquaintance with unique natural reserves phenomena that exist or have ceased to exist;
  • getting information about what everyone can do to improve the environment;
  • departure for excursions in order to get acquainted with reserved, unique places;
  • organization of subbotniks and sports events in support of wildlife.

If children can get acquainted with environmental problems early and learn to behave well on the streets, take care of nature, it will be possible to raise a conscious generation that will save the earth’s atmosphere from destruction, and animals from extinction.

Travel

Travel is as big and timeless as the space industry. You can organize the rest of the children in the summer camp so that each shift will visit different countries and times, or get acquainted with famous places around the world. As a starting point, you can choose primitive times and gradually reach the present. Travel in one shift can be organized in one of the following directions:

• sailing the seas and exploring the oceans;
• acquaintance with the ancient world of Greece or Egypt;
• space flights;
• study of Russian nature and its amazing territories;
• immersion in the world of Mexico, Africa, America, Antarctica and other countries;
• travel to the Middle Ages in the era of knights, to primitive people, to the Soviet Union and other eras.

As part of the trips, children will be able to get acquainted with the peculiarities of the nature of different eras and countries, will be able to prove themselves in sports competitions, will learn to use objects that have gone out of use or will see iconic places from around the world.

Patriotic

It is important to educate patriotism from a young age, so it is important to organize a camp connected with the history of the motherland, the peculiarities of the life of its population and culture for schoolchildren of any age. You can choose a military direction, a Soviet theme, or a generalized introduction to the culture of the nation. It will be interesting for children to get acquainted with the heritage of their people, learn about the clothes worn in the past, the exploits of heroes who went through the war, participate in team competitions together and sing songs around the fire. The patriotic camp allows you to feel the unity in the children’s team, helps to awaken feelings of mutual assistance, mutual assistance and camaraderie.

Historical

With the help of the historical direction of the summer camp, you can acquaint children with interesting facts, cultures of different countries and existing peoples. Can be organized:

• modeling courses;
• study of painting;
• an olympiad was held between teams in different sports;
• fashion show and accessories related to different eras.

Children will be interested to learn about the life of Russian poets, primitive people or pharaohs of Egypt. Each detachment can take a separate era for itself and acquaint other children of the camp with its features.

Back to the future

Every child has fantasies and dreams. In the format of the game, children can get acquainted with the technologies of the future, go on a trip to the planet Earth in 2100, 3000 or even more distant year. The camp shift can save the Earth from an approaching asteroid, conduct experiments on the properties of water and other substances, and prepare for life on other planets. The more unusual and fantastic the tasks of the guys are, the more interesting they will be able to spend time. You can remember the movie “Back to the Future” and all its parts to organize the following activities for the guys:

• carrying out laboratory experiments;
• design of robotics and electronic circuits;
• fashion shows with fantasies about the clothes of the future;
• non-format sports;
• Proms, parties with themed clothes.

Squads can compete among themselves for the right to win the cup of the best inventor, for the sake of interest, you can organize an excursion for the winners to the museum of technology and inventions.

Conclusion

Themed summer camps make a child’s summer not only interesting, but also productive. The team learns to work together, fights for victories in unusual competitions and gains new knowledge and skills that can be useful in school and future life. It is important for teachers and educators to organize the process in such a way that children from the first minutes feel that they have entered a new, unusual world where adventures await them. Inspiration can be taken from books and students, films and TV shows. Guys, like a sponge, absorb new knowledge and open up if appropriate opportunities are created for them. Changes in the thematic camp will allow you to receive more applications for tours, will interest parents and children, in contrast to the classic vacation according to standard schemes. Interesting topics will stimulate the desire to return back in the same year or next season among young travelers and dreamers.

June 25, 2015 – Thursday – photo report

The last day of the camp… We, the counselors, are very sad to say goodbye to the children, because so much has happened to us this month. Everyone became friends, learned a lot of interesting things about each other, how many secrets and secrets we heard from the guys .. Of course, we will keep it all!

Today I didn’t want to show the children that there is a reason to be sad, because the last day should be remembered as bright and cheerful, we tried to spend it at 100!

In the recreation center “Solnechny” we had a lot of fun watching the series “Yeralash”, laughing, smiling and sharing our impressions with each other. And then we were met near the entrance to the camp.. BIKERS…

The guys were in shock and were satisfied after such a surprise, they listened to our guests with pleasure and attention and even managed to feel like real racers camp this year. In the morning we had breakfast and went to the Solnechny Palace of Culture to watch a cartoon. There we were shown “Yeralash”. After the cartoon, we went to the school, where the bikers were already waiting for us. Everyone was very happy to meet them. The guys asked a lot of questions and had the opportunity to take pictures for memory. Then we had lunch and all together went to a concert in honor of the closing of the summer school camp. There, each squad showed their interesting and unusual numbers. Certificates were also awarded to children who distinguished themselves in the life of the camp. In the end, everyone said goodbye to each other until we meet again, which will be at school this fall. Nobody wanted to leave, everyone got used to each other very much and fell in love with their new friends, counselors and educators!

We spent the rest of the time in the library. Children were divided into groups, depending on age. The older group was given the opportunity to get acquainted with the veteran, and the younger group to draw pictures on the topic given to them. After the library, we went to school, where we were “showed” a fairy tale. It was about the magic heart of the boy Mark. Viewing this fairy tale did not pass without a trace, but taught the children a lot and made them think. Then we had lunch and went outside. We had fun there. At the end we said goodbye and went home. We really didn’t want to leave.
