Before and After School Child Care

The Laveen Elementary School District offers a before/after school child care program called Kids Club.

This program offers carefully planned, well-supervised activities for children in grades kindergarten through sixth. The many opportunities offered through the program are designed to interest your child and to foster his/her emotional well-being and social, physical, and critical thinking skills.

Our staff consists of trained professionals who plan and guide unique activities to help the children in this program expand their knowledge and experiences, and to participate in a wide variety of hands-on or discovery type activities. Typical activities consist of group games, team sports, hands-on science activities, arts and crafts, music, drama, plus many other activities from which your child may choose. Each day includes quiet time for homework assistance and encouragement, plus a nutritious snack.

The Kids Club Program is a licensed program of the Laveen Elementary School District and is supported solely by fees collected from registered participants.

For more detailed information, please see our 2022-23 Kids Club Handbook.

Before and After School Care

When school’s out, you can trust the Y to provide an engaging experience for your child after school. Before & After School Care gives your child the opportunity to get to know some of their classmates better as they engage in active play and collaborate on fun projects. In the process, they’ll continue to develop the physical, educational, emotional and social skills that are essential for success.

The Y provides safe, supervised care until 6 p. m. for school age children (K-6). Our participating schools are Florence City (Weeden, Hibbett, Forest Hills & Harlan) and Lauderdale County (Underwood, Wilson, Central & Brooks). We will be partnering with NACOLG & Florence City Schools busing for traveling to and from the schools. Buses will pick up your child after school and bring them back to our new Youth Center at our YMCA!

The YMCA believes that staff training is essential to providing quality programs. Our childcare staff members maintain current First Aid and CPR certifications. Each staff member also completes pre-service orientation training as well as training throughout the new year. All potential employees are required to pass a drug test and criminal background screening. YMCA staff are also required to attend child abuse prevention and awareness training.
