Update
8/22/22
Dear PFT Members,
Welcome Back! Here is some news you can use as you settle into a new school year.
State & PUSD Budget and Negotiations
Good news! The California Federation of Teachers (CFT) and other organizations have been lobbying for an increase to the base funding formula for K-12 public education for many years. The state education budget has been finalized and it contains long-awaited increases to this base funding! 😊 We saw some increases to the base in the Governor’s May Revision, which allowed us to negotiate a 5% salary increase for this school year. In the final adopted state budget, the increases were even greater than they were in the May Revision. As a result of these new funds, the district added the school site supports below and we are going back to the negotiating table on September 13, 15, 21 and 22 to determine if additional PFT Member bargaining priorities can be negotiated.

June 17, 2022
Dear PFT Members,
The PUSD School Board has voted unanimously to approve the Tentative Agreement (TA) between PUSD & PFT for a 5% ongoing salary increase for next school year! The 5% increase will be reflected on your first pay warrant of the 2022-23 school year. This 5% increase is in addition to the 4% increase we received this school year. The agreement is attached to this email. Happy Summer!

TPLES – Teacher Professional Learning and Effectiveness System
Dear Colleagues,
The demands on a teacher’s time are endless, and the school year seems to go so quickly from this point on. The below link Teacher Professional Learning and Effectiveness System (TPLES) reminder sheet is intended to provide support and suggestions for teachers in the evaluation cycle this year, as they monitor and document progress on their SLO/PLO. It can also help make the final evaluation conference, for both traditional and alternative evaluations, more meaningful for the teacher and administrator.

Classroom Supplies using Online Donation Site |
What teachers need to do first to be eligible for donations: Go to www. pusddonate.org. Click your grade level (elementary, middle, high), click your “Site”, click “Teachers”. Please be sure your name is listed. The website is linked to the district’s payroll system. Therefore, the donation website uses the same name you are using for payroll purposes (legal name). Unfortunately, we cannot change that name.
What the Online Donation website provides:
1. Parents have the option of donating directly to their child’s teacher(s), program, department, grade level, program, or the school site’s general fund using this online donation website. The website is designed to provide parents with an easy and convenient way to help fund our instructional supply needs. Teachers and schools have received more than $100,000.00 in donations using this website. It works.
2. Parents may access the donation website by going to www.pusddonate.org. Parents receive a tax deduction and email confirmation when donating. The website also includes a “Matching Gift Program” if a parent’s employer provides that benefit.
3. Teachers receive an automatic email confirmation stating the amount of the donation, donor’s name and email, and student’s name, if provided by the parent. Our District uses a spam filter. Therefore, to receive confirmation emails from the donation site you must check your spam folder. When you see the link, [email protected] that’s the Online Donation secure banking (when using a credit card) email address. Please “whitelist” this email address. For accounting purposes, your site finance clerk or site secretary receives a monthly report of all donations. If you have not received an email confirmation but think you have received a donation, check with your site secretary or finance clerk.
Donation: Teachers access these donations the same way they would their regular supply budget/s at the site.
COMMUNICATION STRATEGIES: Teachers may communicate this website to parents via their MyConnect site, newsletter, and/or during Back-to-School Night (see Common Message on Q&A attached). To promote greater equity among all our classrooms, we suggest grade-level teams or departments come together to identify their “collective” supply needs and request donations be made to the grade-level or department, rather than individual teachers.
Please note: Donations to this account may only be used for instructional supplies (e.g. school supplies, software, workbooks, art and science materials…). If requesting donations for technology, check with your principal. The primary function of your site Foundation is to purchase software and technology and teachers should be coordinating their efforts.
Field Trip Fees: The Classroom Supplies ~ Online Donations website now offers the option of collecting Field Trip fees. More information and directions for teachers will be coming soon in a separate email.
I’ve attached an FAQ and a handout you may wish to provide to parents.

where to live and study in California – Tranio.Ru
Tranio continues to talk about the best schools and universities in the most popular US locations among international investors. In this article, we will talk about the education system in California.
In terms of school enrollment, California ranks only 43rd among regions in the United States. At the same time, however, the state is famous for the best universities in the country, which attract the largest number of foreign students in America. Two local universities are among the top ten universities in the world according to the QS World University Rankings.
In California, in the south of the San Francisco Peninsula, is the world-famous Silicon Valley. This is a 32 square kilometer area owned by Stanford University, which houses the headquarters and offices of leading IT companies, including Adobe, Apple, eBay, Facebook, Google, Hewlett-Packerd, Intel, Yahoo, Xerox and others. Graduates of Stanford and other prestigious California universities quickly find places here.
Preschools and Schools
Preschool is not required in California, but a child can be enrolled in a kindergarten if desired.
Kindergartens are generally fee-based, but there are subsidy systems and free places for low-income families. A child can be sent to a state kindergarten at 4 years old, to a private one – at 3 months. Classes in private kindergartens cost from $500 to $2.5 thousand per month.
Compulsory education in California begins at age six. The authorities are obliged to provide the child with a place in a local educational institution. There is no need to take exams, but children of foreigners must pass the California English Language Development Test (CELDT) so that they can find the right curriculum for them.
California private schools rank significantly higher than public schools in terms of quality of education and university acceptance rates. The best private schools are concentrated in Los Angeles, Pasadena, San Francisco, San Jose, San Diego and Pato Alto. Four of them are among the top ten schools in the country.
The average cost of tuition in private schools in California is approximately $13,000 per year. At the same time, parents pay an average of $10,000 a year for their children’s education in elementary school and $18,000 a year for high school education. Tuition at the most prestigious educational institutions can reach 20-30 thousand dollars a year.
Parents who want to buy property in cities and areas with good schools should expect significant expenses. The average cost per square meter in Los Gatos is about $8,800, in Mountain View it is $10,000, in Pato Alto it is $16,000
Universities
California ranks first among the states USA in terms of the number of foreign students, there are about 150 thousand of them studying here. Between 2006 and 2016, the number of international students at California universities doubled. Most students from abroad are in Stanford and the University of Southern California.
Applicants are most interested in programs in biology, engineering and computer technology at Stanford University, space technology and physics at the California Institute of Technology, economics, business and law at the University of Berkeley.

Renting a house near California’s best universities is not cheap. According to a report by Zillow and U.S. News & World Report, the most expensive housing near America’s best universities is rented out in Pato Alto, Pasadena, Berkeley and Los Angeles. The median monthly rental cost is $2.3K in Pasadena, $2.6K in Los Angeles, $3.1K in Pato Alto, and $3.3K in Pasadena. in Berkeley.
Parents often purchase California homes for their children, as many continue their careers here after attending top universities in the state. The average cost per square meter in Pasadena is $5.7 thousand, in Berkeley and Santa Barbara — $7.5 thousand, in Pato Alto — $16 thousand.

Musicians Blink-182 – Blink-182
Tom DeLonge
Full name – Thomas Mattew DeLonge, Jr.
Date of birth – 12/13/1975.
Place of birth – San Diego/CA.
Nickname – Hot Pants.
Weight – 6’1″.
Height – 184.
Shoe size – 11 (USA).
Girl – wife (Jen Jankins).
Favorite bands – Menudo, The Descendants, NOFX, Far, Jimmy Eat World, Beastie Boys, Pennywise, Prophagandhi, Screeching Weasel, The Queers, NOFX, Bad Religion.
Favorite movie – Anything with a naked Mel Gibson.
Favorite TV show – X-files.
Hobby – Communication with the beloved.
Position in the group – Guitar, vocals.
Thomas Matthew De Long Jr. is an American musician best known for his involvement as the leader, vocalist and rhythm guitarist in the band Blink-182 c 1992 to 2005 and later returned to the stage from 2009 to the present day. While Tom was a member of Blink-182 from 1992 to 2005, he also created a side project with Travis Barker called Box Car Racer in 2002, releasing one self-titled album. After leaving Blink-182, he formed Angels & Airwaves with former members of Hazen Street, The Distillers, The Offspring and Rocket From The Crypt.
Tom was born in the small town of Poway in California. He has an older brother, Sean, and a younger sister, Carey. At sixteen, DeLonge was expelled from Poway High School after he was caught drunk during a basketball game. He moved to school at Rancho Bernardo where he developed his interest in punk rock. The biggest influences on his musical views were the Descendents, Screeching Weasel, The Cure and Freak MonDay. When he returned to his home school, he was elected Homecoming King by the students of the school, despite the fact that his name was not even on the ballot.
When Tom DeLonge moved to Rancho Bernardo High School, he met Mark Hoppus there through Mark’s sister Anne. On the day the two future founding members met, they were skateboarding with friends in the parking lot of the market square, and Hoppus climbed a lamppost and jumped off the top of a lamp post to impress DeLonge, injuring both heels in the process. Mark and Tom realized that they had something in common and that same evening formed a band called “Duck Tape”. The name Duck Tape was soon changed to Blink. As a drummer, DeLong called 14-year-old Scott Raynor, whom he met at a party.
May 26, 2001 Tom married his longtime girlfriend Jennifer Jenkins. He now lives with his wife Jennifer, daughter Ava (AVA, which is why one of the names of Angels and Airwaves is AVA) and son Jones at Rancho Santa Fe, California.
Mark Hoppus
Full name – Mark Allen Hoppus.
Date of birth – 03/15/1972.
Place of residence – Carmen Mountains Raunch / CA.
Nickname – Fish Guts.
Girl – wife (Skye Everly).
Favorite band is Jimmy Eat World.
Hobby – Fishing.
Position in the group – Bass guitar, vocals.
Mark Allan Hoppus is an American punk rock musician and composer who is best known as the bass player and vocalist for the band Blink-182. He is also one of the founders of the +44 group.
Mark was born March 15, 1972 in Ridgecrest, California. Mark’s parents, Carrie and George, divorced when he was 8 years old, and Mark went to live with his father in a small desert town in Ridgecrest. His sister Ann stayed with her mother in San Diego. Mark often sat at home alone as his father worked late, and one day, after watching the evening news about motorcycle killers on the loose, Mark heard a motorbike outside and got scared, he hid and called his mom. He later returned to San Diego, and all this time he often spoke about how much he wanted to play in a band. Mark’s sister introduced him to Tom, resulting in the formation of Blink, later renamed Blink 182.
Mark’s girlfriend at the time really didn’t like the fact that he was spending more money on the band than on things that, according to her, “were more important”, and she gave him a choice – either he ends playing in the band, or their relationship ends. Mark, oddly enough, left the group, but still a few days later he came to his senses and broke up with the girl, after which he returned to Blink. On top of that, Mark writes songs at an incredible pace. The song “Dammit” was written by him in five minutes, and the tabs for the song were composed on an old acoustic guitar, which was missing two strings, but this did not make the song worse.
Currently married to one Skye Everly (now Hoppus) and has a son, Jack (born August 5, 2002). Mark has gained a reputation for being “the most fan friendly”, occasionally appearing online, interacting with fans, signing CDs, chatting with viewers after the show, and on top of that he was also the craziest member of the group, likes to wear Dickies shorts and puma sneakers.
The Hoppus family currently resides in Los Angeles.
Travis Barker
Full name – Travis Landon Barker.
Date of birth – 11/14/1975.
Place of birth – Fontana/CA.
Nickname – “Fuck Boy”.
Shoe size – 11 (USA)
Girl – yes (Sevda).
Favorite bands – The Police, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Descendents, Method Man, Bad Religion, NoFx, Dag Nasty.
Favorite movie is True Romance.
Hobby – Collector (bicycles and cars).
Position in the group – Drums.
Travis Landon Barker is a drummer best known for his work in the pop punk band Blink-182.
Travis started playing drums at age 4 when he was given a set of percussion instruments. Travis became the drummer for Blink-182 in 1998, following the departure of former drummer Scott Raynor from the band. In 1999, in parallel with his work in Blink-182, Barker played in the band Transplants. From 2001-2002, he was the drummer for Box Car Racer formed by Blink-182 guitarist Tom DeLonge. After the Blinks took a vacation in 2005, Travis founded the +44 band with the band’s bass player Mark Hoppus and two other members.
Before becoming a full member of Blink-182, Travis appeared in The Vandals and The Aquabats. And although all these bands play punk music, you should not think that Travis is a narrow-minded drummer. “For a long time I was limited to the jazz style of performance. When I was little, I took lessons from a teacher obsessed with it. And when I brought him records of Van Halen and Motley Crue, he just laughed and introduced me to diametrically opposed things – Billy Cobham and so on. It helped me a lot and I am very grateful to him.” Barker says.
In 2005, Classic Rock magazine published a list of the “Top 50 Drummers in Rock”, in which Travis Barker was ranked 32nd.
On September 19, 2008, Travis survived a plane crash. The incident that claimed four lives took place in Columbia, South Carolina. The plane he was on went off the runway and caught fire. The musician received second and third degree burns and was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Barker and the relatives of the victims then unsuccessfully sued the airline for damages.
Travis was married to Miss USA Shanna Moakler from 2005 to 2006.
Former band members:
Scott Raynor
Full name – Scott William Raynor, Jr.
Date of birth – May 23, 1978.
Place of birth – California, USA.
Scott William Raynor Jr. is an American drummer who is best known for being a member of the band Blink-182. Scott was a member of the group from its inception until mid-1998. Until the moment when he was asked to leave her. Scott Raynor was replaced by Travis Barker, who drums in the band to this day.
After being fired from Blink-182, Scott became the guitarist for Death On Wednesday in 1998, where he played until 2003. He then joined One Track Mind as a drummer in 2003 and played there until 2006. Scott currently plays drums in a band called “Isinglass”.

Is it hard to play the harp? That’s usually the first question people ask. my answer? Not at all! I teach the harp in three easy steps: Speak, Read, Write. “Speaking” music simply means learning to listen and play your harp. We learn tunes by ear to start, just like you would if you were learning a language. Reading and Writing are what allow you to pick up your favorite piece of music and learn it on your own, just like reading a book. Whether you want to play in a concert hall or in your living room, I will give you the knowledge and technique to help you make the harp a part of your life.
