The Tehran tragedy, or how the headscarf rules sparked spontaneous protests

An accident

For the first time since the victory of the Islamic revolution in 1979, the Iranian authorities are facing such a scale of protests that creates a real threat of civil war. At the same time, the key role in organizing the protests, according to the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev, belongs to the secret services of the West, trying to saddle spontaneous protests, directing them to overthrow the theocratic authorities in Tehran and break with Russia.

The protests that erupted two months ago are becoming larger and more violent, and the cause for unrest was the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, who was detained by the vice police for violating the rules for wearing a headscarf. Law enforcement officers were immediately accused of her death, who allegedly severely beat the girl, which caused her death. However, the results of the autopsy were released this week. And it turned out that at the age of eight she underwent a complex brain operation. Already at the police station, Mahsa suddenly lost consciousness, and later, in the hospital, as a result of a stroke and a heart attack, she fell into a coma. So no one even laid a finger on her.

The death of Mahsa Amini shook not only Iran.

Meanwhile, the death of Mahsa Amini received a great public outcry: a scandal immediately began to spin around the tragedy – the authorities accused of cruelty and savagery. Moreover, even before the results of the autopsy, the police officers who detained and interrogated Amini were arrested, and the head of the station was fired. But this did not affect the course of events: the country exploded with spontaneous demonstrations, the participants of which demanded an objective investigation with the involvement of independent experts, as well as softening the most stringent religious rules and requirements, and abolishing the interference of the clergy in private life. A little later, demands were made to replace the aged and frail Rahbar (supreme leader) Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who is considered a die-hard conservative, as well as his like-minded and fellow conservative President Ayatollah Ibrahim Raisi, with secular politicians.

In the forefront of the protests, as usual, were young people, most dissatisfied with restrictions of a religious nature and most affected by the current Western sanctions, which led to rising unemployment and worsening living conditions. In solidarity with the deceased girl and protest against the sometimes draconian rules of life dictated by the clergy, many young women not only in Iran, but also in many European countries, including famous actresses, artists and other representatives of the art world, do not yet know the results of a medical examination , cut off hair. True, the action took place not in the squares, but mainly on Internet sites.

As a sign of solidarity with the Iranians, women from different countries cut their hair in public.

Be that as it may, street protests very quickly covered 20 out of 31 Iranian provinces, mainly it was the Iranian periphery – Kurdistan, Khuzestan, Sistan, Balochistan on the border with Pakistan, West Azerbaijan, Gilan, as well as the central regions around Tehran, Isfahan , Shiraz. Soon there were also demands for the expansion of the rights of national minorities.

Cruelty

At first, the authorities tried not to act too harshly. However, after the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Canada, as well as Israel and Saudi Arabia, using the situation, launched a hybrid war against Tehran, Iran moved to harsh suppression of protests, up to the use of weapons. This angered the street even more. The West only added fuel to the fire.

Expert of the Valdai Discussion Club Farhad Ibragimov notes the unprecedented nature of the attempts of foreign intervention in the situation. Both the diplomatic and political support of those forces that advocate the overthrow of the theocratic regime, as well as the sabotage and subversive and information-subversive activities of the special services and the media associated with them, were used. The supply of weapons and explosives by Western, Israeli and Saudi intelligence services to the most extremist protesters, including jihadist groups, is also not ruled out.

As indirect evidence, we can cite the recent increase in cases of attacks and killings of security officials belonging to such structures as the police, the IRGC and the Basij (“Resistance Mobilization Force”). In this case, officers are mostly killed. According to Iranian government data, the number of dead security officials has reached 55. In addition, attacks are being made on clergy, abbots of mosques, especially in the periphery.

The Iranian authorities are trying to suppress the protests by force.

Because of the lies and provocations that have become generic in the Western media, it is impossible to get an idea of the real number of victims among the protesters. Western sources speak of approximately 370 killed, including 60 children. There are reports that the authorities cut off access to the Internet, that protesters burned down the old house of the regime’s founder, Ayatollah Khomeini, that protesters do not have access to lawyers, and that they are mentally and physically tortured to give false testimony.

Common lies

The coordinated nature of the actions of the Western intelligence agencies was particularly evident last week, when Canada and Britain almost simultaneously fired a propaganda salvo at Tehran. A spokesman for the Canadian Security and Intelligence Service said that according to “credible sources”, Iran is ready to physically destroy a number of Iranian oppositionists living outside of Iran, including in Canada. In the same vein, only in relation to the Iranian opposition in Britain, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom, James Cleverley, spoke. And the CEO of the infamous MI5, Ken McCallum, said that London had to provide protection for Iranians working on the British TV channel Iran International, which broadcasts in Farsi.

US special envoy for Iran Robert Malley also supports his fellow disinformers: he allegedly became aware of the preparation by Iranian intelligence services of an assassination attempt on former high-ranking officials from the administration of ex-President Trump John Bolton, Michael Pompeo and former Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Jubair. At the same time, French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna said that the Iranian authorities had arrested seven French citizens for subversive activities. Let’s clarify: caught red-handed during the recruitment of agents.

Farah Pahlavi, widow of Iranian Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi, supported the protesters.

Another feature of the struggle of the “civilized world” with Iran is that, in the opinion of Iranian experts, Germany has assumed a kind of coordinating role for the efforts of Western countries. It is impossible not to mention the activation of the family members of the former Iranian monarch, Shah Reza Pahlavi, who were overthrown by the 1979 revolution. Moreover, his widow Farah “soloist”.

By proxy

What are the goals of the unleashed anti-Iranian campaign? According to most Russian and Iranian experts, this is, firstly, the destruction of Iran as a state or, at least, the change of the religious regime to a secular one. It is this goal that the West, primarily the United States, as well as Israel, has been pursuing from the very beginning, that is, since the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979. Of course, Israel is most interested in this, for which Iran is an existential threat. This is the only state in the world that, according to Tel Aviv, is a real threat to the existence of the Jewish state. And what is happening around Iran today is the rarest chance for the Israelis to get rid of such a threat, and by proxy.

The second, no less important goal is to break ties between Tehran and Moscow in the face of growing cooperation in the military, technical, political, economic and financial fields. Here, our “partners” seek to kill two birds with one stone: to weaken both Russia and Iran at the same time. According to Fuad Izadi, a member of the Academic Council of the University of Tehran, it is impossible not to notice the connection between pressure on Iran and the fighting in Ukraine. The goal is clear: first, to ensure that the Russian-Iranian partnership develops into rivalry, and even into confrontation, and then completely destroy it. At the same time, the tools used by the United States and Israel are extremely heterogeneous and therefore especially dangerous.

Sanctions after sanctions are imposed against Tehran – allegedly for the supply of Iranian weapons to Russia, for the fact that Iran allegedly transfers documentation to Moscow for the production of drones and generally supports Moscow in the Ukrainian conflict, for not giving up the idea of creating nuclear weapons. And Washington also declares that most likely it will not revive the JCPOA, that is, the “nuclear deal” – the United States simply deletes it from the agenda.

© RIA Novosti

The new sanctions package developed by Washington will “hit” Iranian individuals and legal entities.

Although the same American experts believe that Biden is just bluffing and after some time will return to this problem again, but for now he is simply scaring Tehran, arranging something like a mental attack. So, it may be too early to completely and completely bury the deal.

Well, Israel decided in parallel to blackmail Russia. According to the Kan-11 TV channel, the head of the National Security Council of the Jewish State, Eyal Khulata, brought to the attention of Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, through the Israeli ambassador in Moscow, Alexander Ben-Zvi, “Tel Aviv’s deep concern about the proliferation of Iranian ballistic missiles.” In particular, Mr. Hulata said: if Russia buys missiles from Tehran, Israel will supply its high-precision missiles to the Kyiv regime. These are the high relations established between the Jewish state and the Bandera government.

However, the Iranian leadership, we must give it its due, is well aware that any disagreement between Moscow and Tehran in the conditions of the hybrid war declared by the West can have very sad consequences for both countries. Tehran, writes the Iranian Hamhsahri, has found itself in the center of a confrontation between the great powers, and the situation requires balanced approaches. It remains to be hoped that after the publication of the causes of the death of Mahsa Amini, the intensity of passions will subside. In addition, there are many people in Iran who support the current regime.

However, it is not a fact that they will not find another reason to stir up Iranian society. As you know, the revolution has a beginning, the revolution has no end. Including the colored one.
