Pinwheel is a Licensed Small Family Daycare (up to 8 children) that offers an Educational Program for children 2-4 years old. We operate in an eco-friendly classroom where the children are encouraged to explore their own interests and thrive in a loving and trustworthy environment, but mostly enjoy the learning process!

Our Team

Maria is the Owner and Director of Pinwheel. She holds a Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education from the Alexander Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki in Greece and has been working as a preschool teacher for the last 15 years in both Greece and the US. She is a passionate Teacher who adores working with children and watching them thrive happily through the learning process.

The opening of Pinwheel is the culmination of years of hard work both academically and professionally. Coupled with determination and passion to provide toddlers and pre-K children with an outstanding environment to develop self-confidence, basic life skills and a lifelong curiosity for learning. In her free time, Maria enjoys cooking and spending time with her friends and family, her husband and her two sons.

Our Green Classroom

Having our students’ safety as our priority, our health and safety policies and practices are based on the “Caring for Our Children”, National Health and Safety Performance Standards; Guidelines for Early Care and Education Program. “Caring for Our Children” (CFOC) is a collection of national standards that represent the best practices, based on evidence, expertise, and experience, for quality health and safety policies and practices for today’s early care and education settings.

Furthermore, Pinwheel aspires to maintain an eco-friendly environment for the children and teach them how to love and respect the Earth. Some of our best practices to achieve that are:

• Choosing learning materials made from sustainable wood, silicone or BPA-free plastic.

• Using furniture made from sustainably harvested wood with low indoor emissions, certified by GREENGUARD Gold.

• Using non-toxic, safe, natural and effective cleaning products.

• Recycling and Composting.

• Using low-VOC paint and non-toxic flooring throughout the facility.

• Offering organic meals and snacks.

• Offering water filtered by a reverse osmosis system.

• Using dinnerware made out of the best eco-friendly, high-quality, non toxic materials, like bamboo, silicone and BPA free plastics.

• Teaching the kids about energy and water saving, planting, material reuse and recycle.
