This includes enhanced sanitation of high-contact touchpoints and increased frequency of everyday sanitation practices throughout the day and overnight. Cashiers are asked to sanitize their workspace and hands in between each customer.

Plexiglas

® Shields

Plexiglas® shields have been installed at all of our pharmacies and front-end registers and will be installed in additional areas.

Slowing the Spread

We are providing masks for all employees to wear during their shifts. All customers are also required to wear a cloth mask that covers their nose and mouth when entering the store.

Social Distancing

We encourage social distancing by placing visual indicators at all of our front-end registers, pharmacies and throughout the store. We are operating our stores at 15-20% of their maximum occupancy and have practices in place to ensure we are staying within those limits.

Wellness Checks

We’ve always asked our employees to stay home when they don’t feel well. As an added measure, we’ll be implementing pre-shift wellness checks for all employees. As always, we offer free EAP Resources.

Supermarket chain Wegmans has no problem attracting customers who come and sing about the supermarket in musicals and take guests on tours. And the retailer, in defiance of the crisis, enters the highly competitive market of New York

Usually 60-year-old people do not go grocery shopping every day. But Tommy Muley does just that. The Rochester, New York morning radio host drops by daily for Vietnamese spring rolls and fried chicken at a nearby grocery store, and sometimes he pops in just to grab a coffee and chat with Jimmy, his buddy in the vegetable department. nine0003

The radio host loves this place so much that he didn’t even bother hiring a catering company for his own wedding, but outsourced the cooking and table setting to his favorite supermarket. And friends who come to stay in Rochester, he often takes on a tour of the store.

“They usually say, ‘It’s just a regular grocery store, what’s good about it?’ Muley says. “But I explain that they will have the best shopping experience of their lives.”

Muley’s Vent is a Wegmans grocery chain. The family chain stores with an office in Rochester have only 98 stores in six eastern states is less than Walmart in New York state alone. But the chain manages to jump above its head by combining the advantages of competitors: a wide selection of products like Walmart, quality like Whole Foods, which specializes in organic products, and fast service, like Trader Joe.

America’s favorite network Wegmans introduces self-service checkouts

American retailer Wegmans Food Markets, recognized as America’s favorite chain , has decided to automate its stores with self-service checkouts, according to democratandchronicle.

The chain, which has about 100 outlets in the US, equipped six supermarkets with compact self-service checkouts in Monroe County, New York.

“We have been eyeing self-service checkouts for many years, but could not find devices that were small enough to allow customers to make their small purchases quickly and easily”, , Wegmans spokesperson Joe Natalie said.

According to him, the supermarket on East Avenue originally had 21 regular cash registers, and now there are 12 new self-checkouts. Six cash registers will be for customers who buy seven or fewer items, they can pay by card or through the ApplePay service, another six for customers with large purchases – up to 15 items, they can pay by cash, cards or through ApplePay.

Wegmans was previously voted the US’s favorite supermarket chain, according to a Market Force survey of more than 12,000 respondents, 76% of whom said Wegmans was their favorite grocery store. The network is expanding dynamically, and the management is betting on training its employees, who later become the “superfans” of the company, whose goal is to open a new store near their home. nine0003

Note that the company ranks second in the top twenty most influential companies in the US market. The first place was taken by Amazon , and Elon Musk’s car company Tesla took bronze. In addition, Wegmans is one of the companies that has been included in the Top 100 Employers list every year since its inception. Wegmans Food Markets, which has managed to maintain a sense of family among its nearly 47,000 employees.

The main idea of the store is to promote healthy family food at an affordable price. Also part of the profits to send to those in need of help. Shoppers are mostly middle class. nine0003

In order to attract low-income customers, the store has introduced so-called club packages: for a small fee, a customer can purchase the most necessary and frequently consumed products for the family — milk, meat, yoghurts, herbs, apples, and the like. In order to be eligible to buy a club package (and it comes with a big discount), the buyer must be a member of the Wegman club: joining the club is free, you just need to issue a plastic member card. Instead, the buyer has the opportunity to buy, for example, organic chicken meat at the price of non-organic in another store.
