santiz – Our little world
Today I woke up
And pulled one at once on the balcony,
No, this is not the beginning of a better day
No, definitely not a better day
No, definitely not a better day nine0003
You know here I remembered literally recently quite, and again these weekdays
Leave me alone, I ask me not touch me already pretty,
So many bitches, they right climb into the soul
Without catching up that I do not have it,
nine00004
I only have them yes, I don’t care so much yes
I only have them yes, I don’t care yes
I’m waiting) pack in suitcases things
No, do not kiss
No not until the emergency
No

No so it will be forever
This is our little world with you
alone
Your perfume everywhere, infuriates, damn with him
I pour wounds as if I Bu werekovski
I pour wounds as if I Bu werekovski 9
Simply, still smells a sheet
Just, I hear a voice near
16, as if teenager
So serious and I got sick
honestly, come on
No, I do not miss, honestly, yes, throw you
Everyone taken away
Everyone taken away everything
Tired of these rules, like a torch
From me smoke remained, your tears
I have no one to light, too late
I will write to you, I dare, after the last stack,
And you read a monologue, but it is so sketch

CHILDHOOD BOOK
Today Jaromira Kolarova is justly considered one of the most interesting Czech authors. Having started her literary activity in the pre-war years as a critic and publicist, she later gave preference to fiction: she wrote novels, short stories, stories, and reports. In a variety of genres, creativity is clearly felt close attention to the fate of children and adolescents, to the moral and ethical issues of the spiritual maturation of the younger generation. nine0004
For example, the collection of short stories “Strange Children” [1] (1975) is dedicated to the first particularly sharp encounters with the life of young beings, for one reason or another deprived of family comfort and warmth. The joys and sorrows of girls who early began working as saleswomen in a large store are described in the story “Girls from Porcelain” (1973). The world of the child’s soul is also presented in various ways in the book “Houses on a Green Meadow” (published in Russian by the publishing house “Children’s Literature”, 1971).
In modern Czech literature, it is necessary to note the fundamental interest in the problems of the younger generation, the family, and the moral issues associated with this. Of the writers closest to Kolarova in this regard, one can name J. Moravtseva, J. Kadlec and others. nine0004
In the works of Kolarova, a tendency is clearly manifested that is generally characteristic of today’s Czech literature: the world of her heroes, even if it is only about their family and personal affairs, one way or another enters a large historical panorama. In the novel Only About Family Matters (1965), despite such a chamber, even polemically directed title, echoes of serious social conflicts are clearly heard. In a later novel, My Boy and Me (1974), the heroine’s account of her life is closely connected with significant events in the history of Czechoslovakia in our century. nine0004
This novel is written in the form of a heroine’s diary, interspersed with later entries by her son. The reader is presented with a charming image of a woman who came from a poor working-class family and experienced many humiliations during the time of the bourgeois republic before she managed to get an education. She participated in the anti-fascist resistance during the Nazi occupation, in the post-war years she selflessly devoted all her strength to the struggle to strengthen the socialist system. The vicissitudes of history have sharply affected her life path, but to the end she retains the passionate conviction of a communist and devotion to her party. nine0004
It is necessary to note a certain autobiographical nature of some of the writer’s works. This applies not only to the novel “My Boy and Me”, but also to the book “Our Little, Little World” (1977), where the heroine’s name is the same as Kolarova – Jaromira. This, of course, is not accidental, in fact, Jaromira is not the first time appears in the work of Kolarova. We know her further fate from the novel “My Boy and I”. Only in “Our Little, Little World” all the attention of the author is focused on the childhood years of the heroine. nine0004
The novel does not have a clear plot. The girl talks about her life in the period from three to fourteen years old. However, the plot is still outlined – at first, Jaromir is waiting for the arrival of a stork, which should bring a little brother to the family. And on the last pages, the boy brought by the stork dies of spinal tuberculosis, and his sister, despite all her grief, looking into the mirror, is surprised to see an almost adult girl, whose blond hair is so mourning.
The novel is written in the first person. But is it possible to say that the writer reproduces reality only through the prism of children’s consciousness? Perhaps this is not entirely true. Behind the very lively and convincingly conveyed impressions and experiences of the girl, one feels a mature, experienced author, his sometimes sad, but, in essence, optimistic life wisdom. nine0004
In Kolarova’s novel, the complex and not always subject to analysis process of the formation of a human personality is subtly revealed. In this sense, we have a work that can be defined as a “novel of education”.
In the motley round dance of children and adults that surrounds Jaromira, who looks at her numerous relatives, neighbors, school friends and their parents with unchildish observation, the images of the father and mother of the little heroine stand out colorfully. These strong and outstanding people have undergone numerous hardships and need, but remained faithful to each other during the long years of separation during the war. The father is concentrated, balanced, he is distinguished by the pride of the worker and the passionate thirst for freedom, love of freedom and self-esteem are just as characteristic of the girl’s mother, although she has a less stable and more nervous nature. In her soul lives a beautiful dream of great deeds, of that fullness and beauty of life, which does not fit with her more than modest position. She also brings a romantic aspiration to a wonderful future into her communist beliefs. The romantic maximalism of the mother affected her attitude towards children: she is disappointed with the “ordinary” appearance of her daughter, cannot penetrate into her rich spiritual world, and gives all her maternal passion to her son, a handsome, intelligent, but hopelessly ill boy, whose illness hangs like a black shadow over the friendly and a happy family. The mother’s constant reproaches and her obviously disapproving attitude towards her daughter give rise to self-doubt in Jaromir, but at the same time, a spirit of protest ripens in her, a desire to defend her “I”. nine0004
The father, on the other hand, loved his daughter immensely, but his restraint, strength, and integrity of character somewhat frightened the girl and did not allow her to reveal herself to him.
Feeling her mother’s distrust, timid in front of her father, Jaromira became attached to her brother, who was bedridden by illness. The flexibility of his mind, the ability to invent endless tricks, the unrestrained imagination helped the development of the girl, largely freed her from some lethargy and constraint.
Nevertheless, knowledge of the world is not easy for the impressionable and withdrawn Jaromira, who does not like to ask about anything and tries to understand everything herself. It is not surprising that the world passes before her eyes as a string of bright or sad tales. nine0004
At first, Jaromir is interested in endless children’s questions, like “How big are tiny bugs’ toys?” Then she decides that the important village drake is an enchanted prince who can be disenchanted with a kiss. Gradually, the bitter reality of the world invades her consciousness.
She is shaken by her first encounter with death. When she learns of the sudden death from diphtheria of the ruddy neighbor boy whom she so longed to meet in order to play with his schoolbag decorated with drawings, the meaning of the terrible words “never again” dawns on her for the first time. And after the funeral of a relative, which she attended, death for her was associated with wet, slippery clay and flower roots cut with a spade. nine0004
This is how the impressionable and sensitive Jaromira enters life step by step. Many things cause her a sharpened, unexpected reaction: she cannot look at the crucifixion in the church without tears and feels disappointed when Christ does not come down from the cross during the Easter service; she worries about poor, defenseless Charlie Chaplin in comedy films – the cuffs that the heroes get, and their misadventures give rise to not laughter in her soul, but deep pain and compassion.
Of course, all the girl’s experiences are connected with the small world that surrounds her. But the fragile walls of this little world are shaken by external events. In literature, especially modern literature, we will find many significant works in which social reality is interpreted in children’s concepts and categories. In such works, a child’s vision sometimes helps, so to speak, to “delimit” reality, to reveal something ugly and unnatural in it, which appears more sharply in the naive perception of a child or adolescent. Everyone knows how deadly the statement “the king is naked” sounds in children’s mouths. It is on this principle that, say, such well-known works as Salinger’s “The Catcher in the Rye” or Lenz’s “German Lesson” are built. nine0004
Modern Czech writers also use this technique. As an example, we can cite L. Fuchs’s novel “Melody for a Dark String”, where the gloomy atmosphere of the eve of Munich is recreated, or K. Misarge’s novel “Outskirts”, where a boy from a proletarian family becomes a witness of acute social clashes of the first post-war years.
