Congratulations to Juliane Tsai on her Girl Scout Gold Award Project!
Brief Description from Juliane: After volunteering at this Special Needs Center over the summer of 2015, I decided to pursue a project to benefit the special needs community. I saw many of the students at OSF with their eyes glued to the tablets, lacking social ambition and interaction. So, I decided to create an interactive mobile app that teaches social skills in the form of a game. This game helps special needs children develop their inner communication skills by teaching them greetings, routine, and by encouraging interaction. To make my game more accessible, I fundraised for additional devices to allow for more students to use the app at OSF. Using the money raised, I was able to donate 5 brand new 10 inch tablets to OSF. After downloading my app on the tablets at OSF, I held a workshop to teach the kids how to play the game. I hope this fun and interactive application continues to help build a strong foundation in social communication, for special needs kids in our community.
2nd Saint Francis High School Community Service Fair on 10/30/2014 This fair benefits the community by connecting OSF with wonderful volunteers. OSF is grateful that more than 90 students signed up to volunteer. Special thanks to Saint Francis High School students Arpita Singhal, Priyanka Raghavan, and Joy Pham!

Relevance.
The family is the immediate first social environment that the child encounters. The appearance of a child with disabilities has a depressing effect on parents. Such families need socio-psychological and pedagogical support, and not only specialists from rehabilitation institutions, but also other parents who have children with health problems can play a big role in this.
The social rehabilitation of a child with special needs should not begin with the child, but with the rehabilitation of the parents, with the formation of their psychological readiness to raise such a child.
The appearance of a child with disabilities in the family leads to certain difficulties:
in the psychological sphere;

ROSATOM is 15 years old!
Present and future of Russian nuclear technologies
On December 1, 2007, a new era of the Russian nuclear industry began. Atomprom development programs were launched. Thanks to the consolidation of assets, it was possible to form a chain of a full cycle of technologies from uranium mining to the decommissioning of nuclear facilities. In the 15 years since the historic decision of the President to establish the State Corporation Rosatom, the nuclear industry has come a long way. Rosatom has become a national champion in the energy sector and a leader in the global nuclear technology market.
Great Deputy
With the introduction of unprecedented sanctions against Russia, two irreconcilable schools of economic thought began to take shape in domestic reality. In fact, neither approach, no matter what happens, will win. When all the ideological wars around this issue die down, the one who was able to understand the true meaning of the term “import substitution” in time and in practice will be in the royal position. It is inevitable where it is possible, it is not possible everywhere – but wherever possible, it is the future source of profitability, profits and local prosperity. We propose in this project to look for these areas of import substitution, without exchanging for dreams of lifting sanctions and a closed economy: we believe that such a search will pay off well.
Pivot point
How telecom operator technologies help small and medium-sized businesses
Small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) have traditionally been heavily dependent on the general state of the economy, and not only statistics show that business processes in Russia are slowing down today , but also surveys of entrepreneurs. Thus, the October RSBI index amounted to 48.5 points, which means that the SMB business activity continued to decline for the second month in a row – it returned to the indicators of spring 2022. Such a decline is an understandable reaction of business to “geopolitical and economic processes.” Under the conditions of sanctions, the consumption matrix is shrinking, which means that the situation of SMEs, already unstable, is aggravated: entrepreneurs again have to optimize costs and adjust approaches.
In this situation, it is difficult to overestimate the support for small and medium-sized businesses that comes from large businesses that take on part of the burden. In the partnership project of Kommersant and MegaFon, we will talk about which IT products and solutions of the operator will be primarily useful to SMBs in the new economic realities.
Smart investments
How to make money on the crisis and taxes
Unit-linked insurance plans combine life insurance and income through investments in financial assets of various categories. The product occupies a significant share of the life insurance market in Europe and is in high demand. It is transparent and provides a high potential for profit, and also combines tax and legal insurance preferences. SberLife Insurance has developed a similar product for the Russian market – the Managed Capital insurance program with investment income.
Forecasts. Trends. Rates.
Sports betting is no longer just a form of entertainment – it’s a big industry. The betting market in Russia is developing and growing every year, and its audience is also increasing. Major bookmakers are sponsors of the national teams of the country in various sports, financially support the development of professional and youth sports. Bookmakers are struggling with match-fixing by controlling the number and size of bets on sporting events. About the key events and main trends of the betting market – in the joint project of Fonbet and Kommersant.
A new season of priceless emotions
The tenth anniversary draw of the Continental Hockey League started on August 21st. The regular season will end on March 1st. In the regular season, each team will play 56 games. 27 clubs will take part in the tournament. Together with the new KHL championship, the season of the Priceless League, a joint project of the KHL and Mastercard, begins. But first things first.
The Cloud Takes New Heights
How Cloud Infrastructure Helps Companies Become Market Leaders
$178 billion, according to Synergy Research Group, companies worldwide spent on cloud provider services last year alone. Compared to 2020, the volume of these investments has grown by 37%, and it will definitely continue to grow. After all, these expenses cannot be compared with the competitive advantages that companies receive by switching to cloud infrastructure – from saving money to using additional resources to reach a fundamentally different level of development.
In a joint project, Kommersant and cloud solutions provider Cloud, whose portfolio includes 80+ cloud services, a virtual data center, a platform for full-cycle ML development based on two supercomputers Christofari and Christofari Neo, tell how to become a leader in your field for account transition to the cloud.
Unity of platform and content
According to KellyOCG’s 2021 global survey, more than half of executives will transition their companies to a hybrid operating model after the pandemic. On October 5, 2021, Microsoft released the Windows 11 Pro operating system, which is designed with business in mind and is suitable for any work scenarios, including hybrid ones. Kommersant, together with Microsoft and Intel, talks about the main advantages of an OS based on the Intel vPro® platform.
From Russia with love
Holidays, including the New Year, are a good occasion to please yourself or a loved one with a jewelry gift. But buying a diamond can be accompanied not only by joy. In the windows today you can easily find synthetic diamonds under the guise and at the price of natural ones, and counterfeit products, and just precious stones with overestimated characteristics. This is facilitated by the fact that today all over the world there is no requirement to disclose the entire “pedigree” of a diamond, just a small tag with characteristics is enough.
Hands that cost a million
The famous Russian composer, pianist and conductor Sergei Rachmaninov did not like being photographed by reporters, especially paparazzi. Once he was on tour in a small American town, and the local photojournalist just did pursue him. When Rachmaninov was having lunch, the journalist took out a camera and tried to take a picture, but the musician covered his face with his hands. The picture appeared on the front page of the newspaper with a brilliant caption: “Hands that are worth a million.”
In our project, those whose hands are worth a million.
Nasha pharma
One of the main topics of today, the issue of national security, is providing the population of Russia with domestic medicines. The Russian pharmaceutical business has demonstrated its ability to adapt to changing circumstances by responding quickly and effectively to the COVID-19 pandemic. Providing every member of society with quick and uninterrupted access to medicines is the responsibility of a socially responsible pharmaceutical business. The task is difficult, but doable. About how difficult it is, what a long way medicines go before they get to those who need them – tells our project.
Photons put on rails
Today, the largest companies and countries around the world are developing their own projects in the field of quantum communications. This technology should provide a qualitatively new level of protection of transmitted data, protect IT infrastructure from attacks by intruders. Russia has adopted a large-scale program for the development of this technology; Russian Railways is implementing it. It is time to understand why rails are connected with photons, why quantum communications can prevent an accident at a nuclear power plant, and how boarding a German submarine proved the need for a transition to new cryptographic models.
What drives us
At the end of 2024, a new museum plans to open its doors in the capital — the Museum of Transport of Moscow with a permanent exhibition. The appearance of another museum site in the metropolis is an important event for the public life of the city for several reasons.
100 years of the Moscow Philharmonic
On January 29, 2022, the Moscow State Academic Philharmonic will celebrate its 100th anniversary. It traditionally counts its history not from its appearance “on paper” (this happened back in 1921st), and from the first own concert, which took place in the Great Hall of the Conservatory – now, a century later, the same works will be performed in the same hall. Celebration is all the more appropriate because, in addition to the great past, the Philharmonic Society has plenty of reasons for pride in the present.
How innovations are born
Every day we set ourselves new goals and invent ways to achieve them. And every invented method is an innovation. A technology that is added to the billions of previous ones. As a result, over the past decades, the world around us has become incredibly complex – and at the same time surprisingly simple in terms of ordinary human life. Take, for example, cars. Compared to the first self-running carriage of Karl Benz, these are unthinkably sophisticated, without exaggeration, fantastic systems, but all their complexity is aimed only at making every kilometer of the way as easy as possible for the driver. But have you ever wondered how all these incredible innovations like augmented reality appear, when a living environment complements a full-fledged virtual world right in front of the driver’s eyes? Often creative methodologies come to the rescue that allow businesses to come up with innovative solutions, find ways to exist in new realities and become stronger.
