Our experienced staff gives each and every child the attention and care they need. We understand that every child learns and develops at their own pace and we help encourage them by expanding their minds through fun learning activities. The programs are designed to help them advance in their academics and social skills in exciting and fun ways that keep them engaged. They’ll look forward to coming back where they can play, learn, and interact with the other children. To accommodate your schedule, we offer both full-time, part-time, and after school care so you can choose an option that works best for you and your child.

Aside from fun learning activities, nutrition is a very important part of our program. We use a local company called Midday Meals to provide all of our food and snacks for the children. They specialize in catering food for childcare facilities and provide a healthy mix of protein, dairy, grains, fruits, and vegetable options to keep their minds fueled and energized.

We offer full on-site tours of each of our facilities so you can see where your child will be staying as well as meet the directors and staff. We will begin by giving you a tour of the entire building and then will show you the room where your child will be spending most of their time. Nebraska

Name

According to one version, which is considered the most plausible, the state of Nebraska (Nebraska) got its name from the word Ni Brasge, which in the Indian language Oto, as well as in another native language Omaha, means “Smooth water”. This name is primarily associated with the Platte River. The calm flow of the Platte crosses Nebraska from west to east. The river is formed by the confluence of the waters of the North and South Platte rivers, which originate in the Rocky Mountains.

Geography

Nebraska has an area of ​​200,520 square kilometers. The state borders: in the north – with South Dakota, in the east – with the state of Iowa, in the southeast – with Missouri, in the south – with Kansas, in the southwest – with Colorado, in the west – with the state of Wyoming. The state is divided into 93 counties and two time zones: in the east they live according to the time of the Central zone, and in the west – according to Mountain time. In addition to the Platte River, Nebraska is crossed from west to east by 2 more rivers: the Niobrara and the Republican, which run through the north and south of the state.

The surface of the state gradually rises towards the west. The highest point in the state of Nebraska is Panorama Point – a mountain with a height of 1653 m in the extreme west of the state, where the spurs of the Rocky Mountains are located. In general, the relief of the east of the state is characterized by ridges of hills, and the west of Nebraska is plains, on which it is almost impossible to see trees. The state is almost equally remote from the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. The state is 340 km wide and 690 km long.

Climate

Nebraska has a temperate continental climate. As a rule, there are hot summers with frequent and severe droughts and cold winters. The average monthly temperature ranges from -5 °C to +24 °C. Rainfall in the state, like humidity, decreases as you move from east to west. Annual snowfalls reach up to 90 cm. The state of Nebraska is part of the so-called “Tornado Alley”. This means that in spring and summer you can often witness strong thunderstorms and tornadoes here.

History

Before Europeans arrived, Nebraska was inhabited by the Pawnee, Arapaho, Cheyenne, Omaha, and Sioux tribes. The first Europeans who appeared here in 1720 were the Spaniards from the detachment of Pedro de Villasur. In addition to Spain, France and Great Britain also fought for the territory of Nebraska. So, in the years 1763-1801, the territory of the state of Nebraska belonged to the Spaniards, then briefly fell into the hands of the French, and in 1803 the United States acquired it as part of a deal with the French, known as the Louisiana Purchase.

In 1805, the territory of Nebraska was studied in detail by the expedition of Lewis and Clark, in 1806 Montgomery Pike’s Zebulon conducted his research here, and in 1820 – Stephen Harriman Long. It is curious that Long’s reports did not impress the settlers properly on the possibilities of the territory of the future state of Nebraska, and they preferred to bypass these places, moving further west along the so-called Oregon and Mormon trails.

When these lands were nevertheless chosen by settlers, Nebraska did not immediately become a full-fledged state. From 1804 to 1805, Nebraska was only part of the Indiana Territory, in 1805-1812 it was still only a part, but already the Louisiana Territory, in 1813-1821 it was part of the Missouri Territory. When the state of Missouri appeared, Nebraska was included in the area that was known as the Indian Lands. And only in 1867, after numerous changes in the boundaries of Nebraska, finally became a full-fledged 37th US state.

Population

Nebraska has a population of 1,796,619. By origin, the inhabitants of the state are 38.6% Germans, 12.4% Irish, 9.6% British, 4.9% Swedes, 4.9% Czechs. Compared to other US states, Nebraska has many Czech Americans, Danish Americans, German Americans, and Native American Indians. 90% of Nebraska’s population is Christian. 1% are other religions. 9% of Nebraska residents are atheists.

Cities

89% of cities in Nebraska have fewer than 3,000 people. This is not the only example of a large number of outback areas in the United States. A similar situation is observed in 5 other states: Kansas, Oklahoma, Iowa, North and South Dakota. In addition, hundreds of cities in Nebraska have a population even less – below the mark of 1000 inhabitants. By and large, the only two major cities in Nebraska are Lincoln and Omaha.

The city of Lincoln is the capital of the state of Nebraska, which got its name in honor of the famous American President Abraham Lincoln. The city is one of the oldest settlements in the state, founded in the 19th century. Omaha is the largest city in Nebraska. It got its name from the Omaha Indian tribe, which lived in the northeast of the territory of the modern state. Interestingly, the American media have awarded the city of Omaha the 3rd place in the list of the most attractive cities for living in the United States.

Economy

Nebraska is a predominantly agricultural state. Animal husbandry plays an important role in its economy. Together with poultry farming, it brings 2/3 of farmers’ income. No wonder Nebraska is the 2nd largest meat producer in the United States. To ensure that agriculture, which is so necessary for the state, is provided with everything necessary, several industrial enterprises operate in the state, which are engaged in the processing of agricultural products and the manufacture of equipment for farms.

But that’s not all. Although there are rivers in Nebraska, this is still not enough to fully irrigate agricultural land. Therefore, state enterprises also produce equipment for artesian wells, thanks to which the fields of farmers are additionally irrigated artificially. Thus, only 1/5 of the land is irrigated from reservoirs in the state, and 4/5 is irrigated using water from underground sources.

Nebraska’s main crops are corn, soybeans, grasses, wheat, northern beets. The state also has its own flour-grinding, butter-making, sugar industry, non-ferrous metallurgy, and fertilizer production. Along with this, oil is also being produced in Nebraska. A large number of residents of the state, in addition to agriculture, today are also employed in the service sector. Moreover, this direction is developing, if only because one of the income items of Nebraska is tourism.

Culture

Nebraska has a lot of attractions, which are mostly concentrated in large cities. For example, Omaha is famous for being home to the largest theater community in the United States, the Omaha Community Playhouse. Omaha is also home to the city’s Symphony Orchestra and the Dutch Arts Center. The Omaha Opera and several other drama theaters are also located here.

Omaha’s most interesting museums include the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, the Omaha Children’s Museum and the Durham Museum. There is also one of the most famous zoos in the United States in Omaha – “Henry Dorley Zoo”. In addition to permanent exhibitions, concerts and performances, various festivals are held in the largest city of Nebraska. For example, every year hundreds of musicians from all over the United States come to Omaha for the Blues, Jazz and Gospel Festival.

Omaha is trying to keep up with the capital of the state – Lincoln. It also has a large theater, music and arts community, some of which are directly related to the work of the University of Nebraska, located in Lincoln. In particular, the city pays great attention to cinema, and the State University constantly arranges screenings of American and foreign films related to the so-called independent cinema.

Features

Nebraska entered the history of the most ridiculous legal incidents as a state in which for a long time parents had the opportunity to bring their children to the state, regardless of their age, and without bearing any responsibility for this. The fact is that before 2008, the “asylum law”, which was in force in other states, in Nebraska, was drafted incorrectly. In particular, it did not specify the age for the concept of “child”.

Therefore, parents who, according to this law, had the right to abandon their children, leaving them on state care, did this not only with babies, but also with boys and girls. For example, one mother thus abandoned her 18-year-old daughter, and one father handed over to the state 9 of his sons and daughters under the age of 17. It was possible to stop this when the age of children was indicated under the concept of “child” in the law – up to 30 days.
