Education in New Zealand, study and education in New Zealand
Senior College: Years 11-13
ACG Senior College is one of the best high schools in New Zealand. Since its founding in 1995, as New Zealand’s only pre-college education centre, the college has been dedicated to student achievement of outstanding academic achievement and has been a consistent leader in the national coeducational school rankings. According to the results of two Cambridge examination sessions, college graduates showed 17 best academic results in individual subjects in the world and 37 in New Zealand.
The college is located in the heart of Auckland with its vibrant and busy life. The educational institution occupies an old building, standing close to the Auckland Institute of Technology and located just a few minutes walk from the University of Auckland.
More
College FAQ:
1. How long is a lesson at ACG Senior College?
A lesson usually lasts 85 minutes. This assumes 5 lessons each day except Friday when students have 4 lessons in total.
2. How many lessons each day?
A typical 11th grade student may have 4 or 5 lessons a day. Usually there are 20 to 22 lessons per week. It depends on how many and what subjects the students have chosen to study.
Students in grades 12 and 13 typically attend 16 lessons per week, which gives them 8 free lessons for homework. But again, it depends on how many subjects they study.
3. Does ACG Senior College have a uniform?
No. The dress code is marked in the student diaries and the children can choose any clothes of their choice. But the school asks that the clothes correspond to the educational environment and look quite formal.
4. Does the location of the school in the city center interfere with the learning process?
There are many advantages to having the school within a 2-minute walk of the main street, Queen Street, adjacent to the city library. Proximity to the University of Auckland, Auckland University of Technology, art galleries and business centers help students and teachers gain a variety of experiences that are only possible in the city center.
