Society for Relief of Orphaned Armenians (SOAR)

Northridge became part of the SOAR family in August 2021. Northridge is in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles County. The community is home to California State University, Northridge, the Northridge Fashion Center, and a former Los Angeles historic ice skating rink, Northridge Skateland. Settlers originally named Zelza in 1908, and the township was renamed North Los Angeles in 1929, but this caused confusion between North Hollywood and Los Angeles. At 19In 1938 community leaders decided to rename the community the village of Northridge, which evolved into today’s Northridge. Northridge touches Porter Ranch and the hills of Granada to the north, North Hills to the east, Van Nuys to the southeast, Balboa Lake and Reseda to the south, and Winnetka and Chatsworth to the west.

Anna Sargsyan
President

Anna Sargsyan received her Master’s Degree in Foreign Languages ​​from the Bryusov State University – Yerevan. She is a certified paralegal and notary public. Anna worked as a personal injury paralegal for six years. She is currently an account manager for the North Los Angeles County Regional Center and does mobile translation for Language Line Solutions, Inc. Anna is excited to join the SOAR Foundation and contribute to the organization’s humanitarian goals.

Jacqueline Keshishian
Vice President

Jacqueline Keshishian received his Master of Public Health from CSU Long Beach and his BA in Child and Adolescent Development from CSU Northridge. She served a year with AmeriCorps VISTA, an internal peace corps where she created academic opportunities for students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. She currently works at the North Los Angeles County Regional Center as a Consumer Services Supervisor where she advocates for people with developmental disabilities. Yaklen has over 8 years of experience working with people with disabilities. She has dedicated her efforts to creating opportunities for those with the biggest differences.

Ani Sargsyan
Treasurer

Ani emigrated to the US when she was 19 years old. This country taught her to see this colorful world with an open look without any restrictions, a vision full of freedom.
She graduated from Glendale Community College with a degree in psychology and a bachelor’s degree in health administration with honors from California State University, Northridge. Ani volunteered for GLO Preemies while working at the Glendale Adventist Hospital.

She is excited to be part of SOAR and make a difference in people’s lives.

Tatevik Mkrtchyan
Secretary

Tatevik received her Bachelor of Science in Law from the University of California, Berkeley. After graduation, she worked as a legal analyst in financial companies. Tatevik currently works as an intellectual property analyst at NBCUniversal and plans to attend law school. She is fluent in 5 languages ​​and does freelance translations. One of the reasons Tatevik cares is children’s rights and she has been associated with the Armenian Red Cross, the youth and the UNICEF campus at GCC.

Anahit Nanyan
Historian

Anahit was born and raised in Armenia, and in her heart there will always be boundless love for her homeland. She graduated from the Armenian State University with honors in philology, Armenian language and literature. She came to the US in 2000 as a permanent resident.

Anahit graduated from California State University, Los Angeles with a master’s degree in special education. She has worked for the Burbank Unified School District and has always been in educational settings. Anahit currently works at the Los Angeles County North Regional Center as a bilingual Armenian service coordinator.
She is happy to be part of the Order of Northridge and bring her knowledge and efforts to the SOAR mission.
